Once again, I’ve made another Deadly Sin chart, this time for TTYD, my Favorite Mario RPG
Shadow Queen - Lust: The Shadow Queen definitely thinks she is a supreme being and above all else... however, this never seemed to be out of Pride, as the shadow queen was un-doubtfully powerful, to the point where Mario needed the power of Princess Peach to defeat her. That being said, I would say that the queen seems to have a lust for power, which is something seen in other Nintendo RPGs such as Fire Emblem’s Nergal. She sees everyone as a slave to her, making sure that there is no one that could possibly beat her. Thus, I would see her as Lust
Doopliss - Vanity: Vanity is more or less selfishness, having a pride in an accomplishment or attribute of one’s own. Doopliss put no one’s feelings in front of his own, also boasting about his power. Lastly, People of Vanity tend to be unoriginal (Due to boasting an attribute that usually isn’t unique to him/her such as beauty), which Doopliss, unfortunately, is his main source of attacking be copying others
Hooktail - Gluttony: This should be a no brainer, Hooktail is obsessed with eating people, seeing them as nothing but literal snacks for her to enjoy. Definitely Gluttony
Marilyn - Sloth: Marilyn stuck with Beldem through the end of the game, despite being abused by her older sister blaming everything on her and Vivian (and later Doopliss). Unlike Vivian, Marilyn never overcomes this, making her mental state Apathetic for not standing up to Beldam. (Note that Apathy and Sloth are the same things more or less)
Cortez - Wrath: Definitely the most Hostile Villain, constantly sending monsters to attack and destroy sailor’s ships. Cortez has caused much Turmoil for sailors, including Mario and Bobbery.
Grubba - Greed: Grubba does everything he can to keep his Body young and strong, which means eliminating threats to him and the Glitzpit. While his decisions may not be the best for the Glitzpit, they are the best for his goals and plans to advance himself in business. He also knew that even if popular fighters like The Great Gonzalas disappeared, a new champ would rally up fans anyway (Similar to Prince Mush’s Disappearance.) this leads for Grubba to be a very large sinner of Greed
Beldam - Envy: Beldam may have been a bit prideful, figuring she can’t do anything wrong, thus blaming it on her sisters (and Doopliss). However, it was clear that Beldam is quite envious of her younger sister, Vivian. Vivian was much prettier than her older sisters, Leading Beldam to tend to blame everything on her and giving her worse punishments than Marilyn. Also, while the rest of this is hypothetical, it is possible that Vivian was more liked by people than Beldam, leading Beldam to also be envious of this, since she wanted to prove herself to her Queen.
Grodus - Pride: The trend continues, most Big Bads always tend to be Pride and Grodus is no exceptions. It’s obvious from the very start he thought he could become a God by reviving the Shadow Queen. He also talked down to everyone as if they were fools, and treated his entire organization as nothing but a pawn for his true plans. Grodus is most definitely Pride.
