Shadowhunters: *gives 0 fucks about stereotypes, adresses real life problems such as racism, homophobia, slut-shaming, sexism, has 2 latinos, a black man and an asian/latino in their cast (4 out of 7 in the main cast are poc), right now their only main canon pairing is the one between a gay man and a bisexual poc man, builds beautiful relationships between women where they love and encourage each other (NEVER competing against each other), doesn't kill off women, poc or lgbt+ characters for dramatic plot, has interracial couples, their only episode named after a ship name is the one for their LGBT+ pairing, explores friendships between f/m, m/m, f/f more than anything, has a main character that never takes advantage of the people surrounding her, willing to risk her life for the people she loves and always thanks and apologizes for the mistakes she makes (and never makes something about her), FAMILY FEELS, has a female character explore her sexual life while wearing beautiful small dresses and all the guys and girls just compliment her, respect her and admire her for being comfortable with her body, RESPECTFUL romances (also where the shy and unexperienced one kisses the out-going and experienced one in front of everyone /sobs), has a dedicated cast, amazing writing, nice hair and nice clothes, has still more LGBT and POC relationships/characters to come, THEY'RE ONLY IN THEIR FIRST SEASON*

Can everyone calm down. Take a deep breath. Okay. Now the issue regarding people shipping Matthew and Harry and then going ahead and telling them things on twitter and so on.

If you are one of these people, let me tell you one thing first, ship who you want to ship. Okay because guess what you have every right to do so. However whilst doing that also remember that both Harry Shum jr and Matthew Daddario are in relationships with their significant other. Both of these actors are heterosexual males. The same way you can’t force a male to turn straight, it works the same with straight people, you cannot force them to be gay. That’s absolutely not okay. It’s wrong and honestly upsetting if you are hating on either Harry’s or Matthew’s respective others, this fandom has more class and a much more understanding to not to do that. And I hope that you keep that in mind.

Also if you are shipping these two together, please for the love of god, don’t send them things about it, because it’s all fun and happy to you but these two are straight. When you send them manips about fake things it might not correlate well with them because it’s not the truth. Keep your shipping to yourself, keep it within your domain don’t go around making other’s uncomfortable.

If you sit here and preach about how ‘you can’t ship Alec with clary because you’re taking away Alec’s sexuality’ and then you go ahead and do the same with harry and matthew and make it an even bigger ‘romance’ then there needs to be. Then guess what? You’re doing the exact same thing. You are erasing someone’s sexuality. Just because heterosexuality is common and the perceived ‘norm’ doesn’t give you the right to go ahead and erase it. Absolutely not okay.

And my last point. If you are hardcore shipping these two together, and sending them things on twitter and else where, sending hate to their wife/girlfriend. Please please keep this cautionary tale in mind: Harry and Matthew will stop giving interview together. Harry and Matthew won’t sit in panels together. Harry and Matthew won’t interact together in the SNS domain! And I can say this from past experience, that if you guys continue to do this, continue to erase their individual relationships with females, then guess what this will happen! And you’ll have no one but yourself to blame because you made them uncomfortable to be themselves without it being something more.
