There are so many things in this book that made me feel things I didn’t know I could feel. Every time I read the words “Just keep swimming,” I felt my heart break even more than the last. It made me angry, it made me sad, it made me happy. It seems like there’s not a single emotion that this story didn’t put me through.

Colleen Hoover really knows how to get under your skin. And she is merciless while doing it. 

I knew going into the book that I was going to be a mess when I finished, and lo and behold, a mess I am. Lily and Atlas’ story was beautiful and heart-wrenching. I (someone who isn’t that big of a fan of diary entries) found myself waiting for the next “Dear Ellen,” to show up so that I could hear more about the two. I found myself in love with both Atlas and Ryle, and even as Ryle began to get violent with Lily, I felt sorry for him. That wasn’t supposed to happen. I was making excuses right alongside her, even though I could already see that it wasn’t going to pan out the way I wanted it to.

I will absolutely never forgive this book for the way it made me feel. 

That being said…
