about:
This is a sideblog, and I follow back from my main @grimmusings. Please direct IMs there, since it's easier for me to keep all my messages on one blog. It's also easier to start interactions with me there, where I regularly post open starters and meme prompts. For a full list of rules, see my main. Honesty hour questions will largely be answered IC and treated as anonymous unless signed by a muse.
Hercules Alcides an original character interpretation from Greek mythology. His portrayal is a mix of various film and book lore, but is largely based in headcanon and original backstory. As the bastard child of Zeus, he was raised by his human parents, and Hera (not Hades) is typically the main villain of his story. In general, I do not pull much from the Disney movie, although I'm happy to write with those muses. I also don't pull any of his characterization from Percy Jackson, but since that world blends easily with most of Herc's verses, he typically considers other demigods to be like family (half-siblings, cousins, etc.). All details vary based on verse, and I'm happy to write him into crossovers or AUs.
default verses:
storyverse: Any events that take place in Ancient Greece, where Hercules is completing the trials and trying to prove himself a hero.
immortal gods: After the deaths of his family, Hercules recovers from his madness and spends decades alone on an island, where he struggles to come to terms with his guilt and his immortality. When he emerges, his story has become a legend told and retold across history. No longer wanting the fame, he takes lowkey jobs where he can help people without drawing attention to himself.
fableverse: When the storybook worlds collapse, Hercules finds himself in a contemporary town called Fableton, where he takes a job as a bartender at The Jolly Roger. He never finished his trials or became a hero, and he still struggles to control his strength at times.
ever after: Characters are reincarnated versions of their fairy tale counterparts, and few know who they truly are. Always an outcast, Hercules wanders into Fableton looking for the biological parents he'd never met and takes a job at the fire department. (bio)
