“It’s usually common courtesy to ask before taking someone’s picture.”
He didn’t care a whole lot but… he typically didn’t care much for getting his picture taken. Generally, he didn’t like it. People expected him to smile and he wasn’t one to smile on command. Not usually. His eyes lingered upon the disposable camera. He silently considered whether or not it was given to her by the scientists or she’d purchased it herself.
‘Anything’s possible in this city, I guess.’
The words - spoken so sharply to her - did little to intimidate Yuri. He was clearly someone who easily intimidated others. Even Yuri herself would have been intimidated years ago before everything happened. However, as she lowered the camera, the female merely stared at him.
Or, rather, stared over his shoulder at the being behind him. The flash had been enough to turn whatever it was away, sending it plodding off after easier prey, perhaps. If it even was really there in the first place. Her gaze gradually slid over to the young man and she blinked once. Same age as her, most likely. He'd seen terrible things too, judging from the look in his eyes. The same cool detached expression she so often wore.
"I was testing it." There wasn't much in the way of explanation. "I didn't think you'd notice me. You didn't notice it, either." As she turned the slider to roll the film - the distinct sound of the spool cranking filling the silence - Yuri glanced over his shoulder once more. "Have you been unable to find someone important to you recently?"
