{OOC} Goodbye, one and all.

Hi everyone.

I say this with such a  heavy heart, but I think it's time for me to leave this RP group. I know I haven't been in Safe Haven for very long, but I've been in AARP for almost two years, and I feel like you've all been a crazy, warm, wonderful family to me. It was the first time I did any roleplay writing, and it's been a blast.

I've been losing my inspiration for Kitty recently, and my activity on here is dwindling. I have a few ambitious writing projects in the works, and I think I need to devote more of my time and brainspace to those. Two Shadows. (Rachel and Kitty)

Rachel tended to avoid people. At most the only contact she came with others was when she wanted to talk to them. And that was it. She only talked. She never touched. Handshakes were always ignored by her and no one in their right minds would hug a goth, especially one who seemed to stare right into your soul. Even when she walked in crowded places people seemed to swerve away from her. 

And that was how she liked it.

So it was a completely new experience for the young woman to have a warm body collide into her when she appeared in a whisper of shadows. The body seemed to have come out of nowhere it seemed. And as she lay on the trying to get her senses back into her she looked at the woman in front of her.

"How did you do that?"

Kitty didn't know how the HYDRA agents had found her, but they had. And now she needed to run. She skidded into the dark alley, her feet nearly slipping on the rain-soaked asphalt, and she phased straight through the side of a building. It seemed to be some kind of warehouse, the inside was full of boxes and crates, and the air was damp and cold. She couldn't hide there for very long.

She thought she was being careful; she knew she would become a target of theirs as soon as she tried to help the remaining SHIELD agents, and had covered her tracks as best she could, but apparently she hadn't been careful enough. The people they had sent against her clearly weren't all that bright; their weapons of choice seemed to consist of only guns and tasers, which were completely useless against a mutant with phasing powers and martial arts expertise.

She heard a clanging somewhere else in the building. Time to run.

She rushed through the outer wall of the building into what she hoped would be another dark alleyway. She materialized in the cool night air, but was met by another solid body. They both went flying on the impact, Kitty broke her fall against the brick wall, and turned around to see the other person lying on the ground.

"I'm - I'm sorry, are you - " Kitty stopped short, mid-apology, realizing that this could be another HYDRA agent her pursuers had placed in the alley in order to catch her. Her eyes narrowed in suspicion, looking the dark-haired girl over. 

"It's none of your business how I did it. What are you doing out here?"

Eye of the Storm || OPEN

This was going to be difficult.

Kitty knew that from the get-go. But she wasn’t going to stop now. She wanted to be there for the people of Detroit, she wanted to help whoever was left of SHIELD. Her students were safe in an underground facility, but she was sure that her powers would be extremely helpful in investigating the site of the explosion.

There were no flights going anywhere near Detroit, but Kitty found a redeye going from New York to the airport in Lansing, Michigan's capital. She only had a black messenger bag across her shoulders, so she made it out of the airport quickly. It was early morning, and thin pink streaks were just starting to make their way across the horizon. She shivered in the cool air, and jogged out of the busy traffic around the terminal, hoping no taxi drivers noticed her phasing through the front of their cars. The flashing sign above the airport bus stop claimed it was still sending busses to the Detroit area, so Kitty bought a ticket from the kiosk and waited.

The bus arrived over a half hour later; Kitty figured they were trying to discourage people from traveling to Detroit. There were only two other people in the vehicle, and Kitty could barely keep her eyes open. She willed herself awake, too scared to miss the stop. 

She stepped out into broad daylight when the bus let her off a short distance from the Detroit relief camp. The total destruction was astounding. There was debris and wreckage everywhere, even so far away from the center of the explosion - or so they called it. Several official-looking people were milling around the area, some with walkie-talkies or other equipment. Kitty approached the closest person she could find.

"Hello," She said, trying to strike a balance between nonchalant and business-like, "I'm here to offer help to SHIELD, or whoever needs it. I can assist with the relief work, or with assessing the fallout conditions. I'm a scientist, if that helps."

"Right?! Honestly, I’m surprised somethin’ like this ‘adn’t happened sooner."

"It probably did. This was just the breaking point."

"Don’t let a couple-a rotten apples spoil the whole barrel. Unless the whole barrel is rotten, then yeah the whole thing is spoiled I guess. I don’t even know what point I was trying to make now!"

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun! (Cassie and Kitty) {Circus AU}

Cassie felt a small laugh bubble inside her chest as she ran after the older girl.

She needed this free time with a friend. She loved her job as hard as it could be. But sometimes she just wished that she could just go away from everything and just have fun. And that was exactly what she had in mind as she ran with Kitty.

Stopping next to the girl Cassie took a deep breath, taking in the cold air and letting it cool her cheeks. She’d always liked the smell of cold winter air as well as the feel of it on her skin.

Blue eyes went from one shop to another, taking everything in, as the two girls walked down the pavement. Her eyes lit up when she caught sight of a small clothing’s store. “How about we check that out?”

Kitty loved the bustling sounds of the streets; the people walking around with coins jingling in their pockets, the cars whooshing by, the sounds clinking glasses and dishes coming from inside restaurants when the doors swung open. It was a true symphony of humanity - it was what brought a big city alive.

Kitty's face lit up when she saw the shop Cassie was pointing towards. It was a small building, and she could see through the window the rows of clothing racks squashed together inside the small space inside. It was a cheap second-hand place, but clearly the kind of store that would be fulll of treasures and surprises.

"Oh, I am so there! Let's check it out, shall we?" She grinned as she picked up her pace. She pushed the door open, and a little bell made a jingling noise. An old woman wearing layers of sweaters and scarves sat on a stool behind the counter reading a newspaper. She nodded at the girls when they walked in and kept reading.

"Wow, look at all these dresses!" Kitty called to Cassie, making her way toward the far wall. She ran her fingers slowly over the fabrics, taking in the colors and patterns. She pulled out a sparkly sequined purple single-strapped evening gown. "What do you think of this one?" She asked her friend, holding it up to her shoulders, "Do you think I could use this for my act?"

Vanishing Act || OPEN {Circus AU}

There was no greater thrill than hearing the gasps of the crowd.

Sure, the crowd was getting smaller year by year, but Kitty never ceased to amaze them. Pulling scarves and birds (seemingly) from thin air, pulling unsuspecting audience members and having them lock her in a box, only for her to reappear at the top of the circus tent's pole - watching their faces, seeing their shock; it just made her heart soar.

She never stayed for their applause, because her last trick always ended with a flash of light, a puff of smoke, and Kitty, obviously, being gone. Her well-trained bat, Lockheed, would always collect whatever money or flowers anyone threw from the audience, and bring it to her dressing room.

Kitty slipped through the tent flaps into the cool night air, listening to the cheers coming from inside. Her sequined black dress sparkled in the moonlight. The vanishing act was over, and she was tired. She spun around when she heard someone call her name from a few feet away.

"Who's there?" she whispered urgently. No one was supposed to see her after her finale.

Kitty had to make an effort to control her laughter. “You- you should have seen your face!”

It never got old, scaring people.

She’d had a knack for it since she was a kid, sneaking up on teachers and schoolyard bullies, pulling things effortlessly from people’s pockets. She would have made a fine thief, but she had made a vow to herself that she would never use her “gifts” for anything too immoral. But pranks? Those were just good clean fun.

She lightly slapped her friend on the shoulder. “You gotta be more alert, Cassie. Always be thinking about what’s coming up behind you.”

She shivered in the chilly night air, and hugged her oversized sweater a little closer around herself. “So, are you ready? Got enough cash? I hear everything is way too overpriced around here.” Their plan mostly consisted of “the city’ and “fun” - all the details would be spontaneous. However it was going to play out, Kitty was just thankful for an unscheduled night out.

One day she was going to die with all the scares she got.

Shaking her head as she tried to calm herself the blonde looked at her friend. “I always do it in the metaphorical sense. Didn’t know I had to do it the literal sense as well.” She continued rolling her eyes slightly, her lips tugging upwards in a smile.

Cassie nodded as she patted the front of her faded sweater. She didn’t like to put it in the pocket of her jeans. Or any kind of pocket for that matter. Made it too easy for the pickpockets to steal it. So the money was always safely tucked away in a small pouch, that had once been her mothers, hanging around her neck. “Been saving since the last time we were here. This is the one city we have the most fun at.” She gave a small smile as she looked at the city shining down below. Their little circus camp was situated on the outskirts of the city where there were lots of grass and trees for the many animals they had. And more space as well. Glancing back at the older girl Cassie grinned. “So are we going or what?!”

"Yeah, what are we waiting for!?"

Kitty grinned and grabbed her friend's hand, and started running down the crumbling road ahead of them. It was a chilly night, and the cool air whipped through her messy brown hair, making her feel more alive than ever. Kitty had masted staying quiet while running at a young age, but she wasn't sure how well Cassie could keep up. She slowed too a jog, but her heart kept racing.

"Where should we head to first?" She asked, as the sounds and lights of of the city below them became louder and bigger. 'There's so much to do here!" She pulled Cassie to the side of the road as a car came whizzing past them. Everything moved so fast in the big city.

Cassie bit down on her lip as she opened the door to her small caravan.

CRE-!

Of course the damn thing would creak!

She made a mental note to herself to oil the door in the morning but at that moment the blonde quickly wiggled her way through the half open door and stepped out of her caravan. Quickly shutting and locking the door behind her the young girl looked around cautiously, her lip pursed, eyes darting from one corner to the other. Seeing no one she quickly made her way across the little circle, that was made up with all the caravans parked together, towards the one painted purple and black. Sliding underneath the caravan the blonde emerged on the other side, her faded jeans supporting grass stains and her tank top and shirt a bit covered in dirt. Patting down on the dirtied spots to get rid of the dirt she quickly tightened her pony tail behind her head then sighed as she waited for her friend to show up.

A few minutes passed before the blonde made any movements beside the slow and steady fall of her chest as she breathed. She nearly screamed out loud when she felt someone place their hand on her shoulder. Whipping around, breathing heavily and clutching her chest she cursed.

"Damn it Kitty! Every time! Do you have to scare me every time?!" Her voice was little above a whisper but it was nothing compared to her rapid heartbeat at the fright.

Kitty felt a little pang of sadness at Hank's mention of the Rasputins. "Yeah. That's certainly someone I miss not having around for the holidays..." 

"But hey, we're still going to have a blast!" She added, trying to brighten up. And yet, Kitty sometimes wished she could go back to the old times; pulling pranks with Illyana on the stoic Piotr, secretly hoping he would spend more time with her- when did everything get so goddamn complicated?

"We can always get Summers drunk and become YouTube famous. Or, ya know, your classic holiday get-together."

"Who says you can't have one without the other? Someone just needs to casually tell Scott at the holiday party that he can't outdrink Logan. He'll obviously want to defend his manliness, or whatever it is he's defending these days."

Kitty smirked. "This should be loads of fun."
