Planting update time.. Its been a while, but its all go now the sun has started coming out again. Perfect timing with all this lockdown isolation corona virus stuff, the plants on the windowsills are now moving out to the greenhouse...
First up, the Jalapenos, Hungarian Hot Wax and Cherry Red Peppers are outside in the greenhouse in bigger trays now they have sprouted well.
There was a problem with the Cayenne peppers i planted first, i dunno why but after they sprouted well they all started to wither and die. I moved the last 2 alive looking ones in to their own pot and added a few new seeds to keep them company (or replace the older ones when they die)
We have new additions since the last update, we have strawberry plants and lettuces. I got both of these from the garden centre, I've just moved them into bigger pots.
I hope that the lettuce pot is big enough for them, the packet said they want alot more room but i ain't got the space to do them properly. We will see what happens, maybe mini lettuces are a thing.
The original onions i planted kinda died as well. They went all limp and never regained their upwardness, so i cut my losses on them and replanted new seeds and will keep them outside. I think my main problem was i wasn't giving them enough water inside on the windowsills.
But in other onion news, i got red onion sets from the shop and planted a few of them which have started to show signs of life. Also in that picture are the chives and spring onions which i seeded today. Chives being a easy to grow herb you can just cut off as when you need them, i got the seeds for free so we will see what happens.
The garlics are going well, about the only thing thats actually doing well really, its great news as i bloody love garlic. And if any vampires try to come for me i will be alright.
Another new addition is the radish, they are quick turn arounds, only being in the ground a few weeks befor harvesting these will be a reoccurring feature. I have pickled radishes in the past so may well do that again as they were tasty.
The cherry toms went a bit weak and limp indoors from the lack of proper watering (i think) so these guys have been moved outside to the greenhouse. I re seeded a couple replacing the potentially dead ones.
My girlfriends sunflowers are also in there starting their long journey upwards, world record sunflowers coming soon
The last new addition is a blackberry bush that was on reduced price in the garden centre. Its potted and just sitting out on the patio with the mint bush which is started sprouting some new shoots..
