I wrote some Velma/Daphne smut and put it out into the universe. It’s my first time sharing anything fictional I’ve written, so I’m obviously excited and terrified. 🧡💜

I am standing outside,
In the snow,
In a tank top and shorts,
Staring at the sky.
I need not explain myself further.
That is poetry enough.
There is no other
Way to explain it.
I am standing
Outside
In the snow
In a tank top and shorts
Staring
At the sky.

there are so many damn rules around queer representation and writing characters, and i'd like to blame it on the patriarchy.
examples-
anytime a character starts out as bi then ends up as gay, it's bi erasure and not just the fact that a character has now found their way out of comphet
if a gay character turns bi then the writer is erasing queer experiences and wants their character to be in a "straight-looking" relationship
if a queer relationship turns messy then you aren't giving queer people the happy ending that they deserve, but if the relationship is super perfect, then it isn't realistic
if a lesbian is super feminine presenting, the writers are afraid of exploring queer identities, but if a lesbian is super masculine presenting, then the writers are only playing towards stereotypes. if a lesbian is somewhere in the middle, then the writer is afraid of really showing the way that this person wants to present and be.
i could go on and on forever but the whole point is that we need more diverse examples of representation in specific areas, like diverse queer people who look different and have different traits, but it sucks because nobody will ever really be happy with all representation... will they?

— Eleanor Longden
“I never realized what a big deal that was. How amazing it is to find someone who wants to hear about all the things that go on in your head.”
— Nina LaCour
It such a big deal and only a few will understand.
