10/10 me for being productive and filling the void over break because I didn't know what the fuck else to do and if everybody is busy I can't make plans and if I can't host the plans then what should I do because I can't invite myself over to houses

oh and don't forget I can't make plans because the person I volunteered to do it for isn't even free, so then that would make me look like a bad person. fuck. my. life.

nothing more fake than a girl who's rephrasing a college essay for the one millionth time to fit that specific school and trying to pretend like she fucking cares about what she's writing but it's her mom forcing her to write an essay for a school that she doesn't even want to go to that badly and she thinks about why the fuck she didn't look at minnesota because her best friend will be leaving and she'll miss him so very much and she wants the two of them to be college buddies but doesn't know how to tell him this and she really just wants assurance they'll stay in contact in the future and give speeches at each other's weddings and take the european vacation and american hiking vacation together we keep talking about or maybe even combine the two im okay im okay im okay and she can only hope that he cares as much even though you're just the lesbian best friend and it's fine it's fine it's fine :)

oh and let's not forget... we hope he doesn't marry somebody who hates you!

5 college applications tips that have been helping me (adhd)

I made the common app account in May, and it was the best thing ever. It was nice to know that even if the portals for that school cycle didn't open till August 1st, I could at least look at the personal statement, profile, supplements, and start writing all of those things.

Sometimes for supplements, I'll write out my ideas on paper and even the essay on paper too. I won't give myself any pressure to revise on paper, but sometimes it's just hard to start the 100 word supplements online. I don't exactly know why.

I didn't put off any questions that I had to ask my parents on their information for the profile. I basically texted them and hounded them until my dad told me to come upstairs, and in those three hours, we knocked out all of the weird parent/family information questions together.

Sorry College Essay Guy, but I didn't read a million guides on how to do personal statements and supplements cause I knew I would get confused. Once I read a few examples to get a decent idea of what exactly should be happening, I just kind of took a stab at it. I do think though that having like one parent check it and one person who is outside of your family check it are both really good ideas. For me, that was my Mom and a family friend who was an English major and works in higher ed press releases/journalism.

If you have a more general major and don't need a super prestigious alma mater, then it's okay to apply to more larger general schools. For me, all 7 (yes, only 7) of the schools that I am applying to are large state schools because I feel like that's a lot less pressure on me. With ADHD, I feel like it's so easy to screw up in a small community.

bonus tip: I also got everything possible in minus one application before November 1st. I would have done earlier if I wasn't out of town and busy for the majority of August, but this also makes the waiting game a heck of a lot easier on yourself. Also, it's good I did this because I didn't have to worry about college during a super tough first semester of senior year.

realistic academia (this is for me to get motivated again and not procrastinate)

discovering a new love for physics and seeing it EVERYWHERE. in your car, cooking, formula 1, everything you love has physics

doing your homework right away and knowing that you can go to bed early if you do. you love the glow on your face the next day when you aren't tired

watching vlogs of accomplished people and people you want to be like, knowing that you will get there some day with a lot of confidence.

always caving out the time to practice music, knowing that your own extracurriculars are what make your brain alive.

turning the pages of a book well-loved by old students, knowing that every sticky note on there could have been a miracle of a thought that you and a student 20 years ago shared.

paying so much attention in that last class of the day, knowing that it deserves as much love as everything else on your schedule gets.

knowing that learning about our government is a way to critically look at the world and GOD, women love another woman who is well spoken.

making the best of every opportunity to study, knowing that these moments of your life are going to be rare in future years.

if you have a crush for the first time on an asian person, please don't say you had your asian awakening. it's gross and implies that you found all asians unattractive before.

no asian parent jokes if you are white. my parents are actually the reason why i have as much academic recognition as I do.

please learn where india is thank you and goodnight. it is a part of asia, and i'd love to know where you thought it was if not there.

i actually don't. it'll only make me disappointed.

i'm so tired of "love is love" being the main pride slogan thrown around during pride month. usually i see it on pride posts from businesses and corporations, which i know doesn't really count, but when it's the only thing i see from other queer people it makes me really cross.

yes, love is love. yes, that's important. but that's not all pride is about. pride is about celebration, resistance, and community.

if "love is love" is all you have to say about pride, you are excluding so many queer experiences. not all of us feel love. not all of our queer identities are to do with sexual or romantic orientation.

"love is love" does not celebrate trans pride. "love is love" does not (necessarily) celebrate arospec and aspec pride. "love is love" does not celebrate intersex pride. because those things aren't about love.

"love is love" does not celebrate the millions of queer people who still aren't allowed to love, because a three word slogan does nothing to give them freedom.

instead of celebrating only love, i want to celebrate queer people.
