Made a quick menu mock-up (the fugly colour scheme is by no means permanent), made some more foliage, such as a chestnut tree, a juniper tree, more stumps and destructible shrubbery (as well as added some unseasonably festive decorations to the fir tree for gits and shiggles :V)

also occasionally picking at icons so that i can start replacing all the 24x24 coloured squares i’m using as placeholders.

and what’s destructible shrubbery without vast hordes of wealth to explode out of them? i figured i might as well animate the coins.

Some seasonal trees. Currently planned are four seasons, 3 months each with six total transitions - but this so far is more than enough to get testing it in unity, once i’ve polished up the snow a little more.

the art process with Rivers

first you work on something until it’s looking pretty okayish and be nearly done with it like literally just have the shading on one and a half branches left to go and then rework the back most branch so it doesn’t look like a sack of rotten scrotums. but then !!!!

then decide that trees kind of suck and you want to work on something bigger, more bombastic so you don’t get burnt out on foliage. So you get to work on a big bossfight arena set piece.

what’s the boss?  who knows!

is it plot relevant? guess we’ll find out!

what are the mechanics? probably something to do with time!

isn’t that going to be a pain in the ass to code? we’ll burn that bridge when we get to it!

so between a precarious financial situations, personal tragedy, the general batshittery that was 2020 and me being Not Good at this whole social media thing, it’s been tricky working on art and personal projects. now that things are a little more stable (at least in my personal life), i’m getting back on the wagon and working on Share of Winters again. so i present to you a piece i call Rivers Screams At Pixelated Rocks For Six Hours (WIP)

made a sort of ???overpass??? (not sure what it’s actually called i am Bad at architecture) for the Shroudpoint Village tileset and it seems to be tiling alright with the buildings

spent the few days i just had without internet working on some assets. the majority of the cathedral tileset interior is finished and all that’s left is clutter. Also gave some TLC to the smithing stations, so there’s the forge, smelter and anvil. Also also redid the witch’s portrait as the last one looked kind of wonky.

Did some work on the healer, Lishtu. She has two distinct outfits - her garb as part of plague mother’s congregation, and her ocean singer garb. The shading on the ocean singer’s garb needs some work, got to make it look a bit more iridescent. Lishtu is a part time member of the Adventurer’s Guild, Shroudpoint’s primary physician, and sister to Nolany’s wife, Lushtu. She joined the guild shortly after Lushtu retired to run the veterinary clinic.

Also finished up several other portraits that I posted to twitter but forgot to post to tumblr. Sol is completely finished. It took me like, 84 years to figure out what I wanted to put in her basket. Bread, cheese, potion ingredients, home made juice, and a sack of sandwiches. Debating if I should add a bow to her hat or the back of her dress or if that would look too twee.

There is the currently-nameless blacksmith, the head of the adventurer’s guild Nolany, and Shroudpoint Bank’s manager, Rosyne.

She’s a mighty halfling berserker who stands at a whopping 4′, and wields her trusty blade, the Dragonpoker
