Seven years and 5,000+ posts later I'm moving blogs. I've had this one as a side blog for a while now mostly due to keeping an RP blog as a main. I've not been writing on tumblr for a long while now, well over two years, so it feels time to let myself be my main again.

Nothing here will be deleted and content posted won't be any different at the new blog. I'm just sick of asks, comments, and follows being weird.

ao3 is not instagram, and it’s not embarrassing to comment on a story that’s old. we understand that you just happened to come across it now; writing is magical in that you often come across the right story at just the time you need to read it.

also, authors will literally cry over their keyboard if you comment on the stuff they write.

I've been tracking every fic I read this year, which had been super fun. My favorite graph though is this one that shows a pie chart based on ships.

The sheer joy of playing a video game as your favorite blorbo is unmatched. 10/10 highly recommend. It is and always will be my favorite rp adjacent hobby.

Currently playing sdv with KisaIta where I nodded in single dad Sas who may or may not be having a fling with Kakashi. Anyways KisaIta run a beach farm where Kise fishes all day and Itachi grows flowers and everything is sweet and peaceful and not death betrayal and canon sadness.

A Simple Trick for Fic Writers

Hey, if you're a fic writer and a character speaks in a different language, you don't just have to add the translation in the notes. Use the following HTML coding to add 'text on hover' to the word(s). If the reader is on a computer they can hover over the text to see the translation.

<div title="This is the text in the box!">This is the text that shows in your fic!</div>

Here are some examples from a fic on my AO3.

This coding here <div title="a fool, idiot (lit. emptyhead)">Eyn utreekov</div> will show this on hover.

This next example shows that you can add a lot of text. The formatting is the same as above.

PS: When doing this, there may be spacing issues, but you can edit the text through AO3's html or rich text editor. From there you can add italics (like I did), bold, etc, and fix any weird spacing issues. Just be careful not to delete the coding that you worked so hard on 😂

today on ao3 tips, here's a quick follow up to this post about the ao3 "mark for later"/TBR/save for later function! ive seen some stuff going around lately lamenting that there's no easy way to filter out "character x reader" or "character x OC" fics from search results, but there absolutely is!

very quick and simple fix, just add "-reader" and/or "-original*" to the "search within results" bar (not "other tags to exclude", which might be where the confusion is coming from). it looks like this:

here is what it looks like with both filtered out:

the "*" after original is an indicator for the filters to catch the "original female--", "original male--", and "original character" tags, which is why is should be included! as a caveat, this also removes anything that has the word "original" in the summary or tags, so do be aware of that. (meaning this will also grab anything that has original characters tagged even if they AREN'T in a pairing, plus anything that uses the word "original" in the normal sense)

also, || designates "OR" for the filter search, so it is optional (and can be replaced with just a simple space) but i like to include it to be extra sure. i have checked and both results work.
