Codywan Dad!Obi Tatooine Fam etc au (pt 3)

About a year passes. Luke & Leia are gonna celebrate their 10th life day, and they're stopping on some planet for the celebration. The kids are ecstatic to be on a planet; it's not that they never stay on one, but it's pretty rare, bc they try to keep bouncing around.

The adults are realizing tho that this isn't really sustainable, at least in the kids' best interests, bc they aren't really socializing that much nor getting much stability (or sunlight). There are whispers that the clones are searching for Jedi, and perhaps their more subtle searching should be more feared than the more open violent search of the Empire, but it's not like constant movement is any more guarantee of safety. No special hit seems to have been put out on Leia or her Jedi rescuer, so perhaps they can afford to move on.

There's probably like, a big celebration on the planet they land that coincides with the kids' birthday, with a festival and parade ending in fireworks, which they go to. We get some sweet domestic family moments, Owen buys some street snacks while Beru scopes out the best place to watch the parade. Obi-Wan is quietly on edge, tho. (Nearly losing Leia, and yk losing Bail and an entire planet, really rattled him)

He's shaken to near panic when he sees a clone (in civilian clothes, not armor).

Some clones have dispersed throughout the galaxy, finding work in places still rebuilding after the war, building lives and families there. He's kept his ear somewhat to the ground even over the past year, and heard tell of this, but it's still a shock to the system.

Esp bc he bumped into the guy and the guy *saw his face* and he *recognized* the guy. Not someone he was very familiar with, but one of the 501st, he is near-positive.

(Shout-out to Nax he's living not his best but still a pretty good life here)

Obi-Wan is quite bad at secret identities honestly. It's not rare for someone to recognize a clone even in the Outer Rim planets, nor to be afraid of them; but he is evidently shocked and spooked and hey, doesn't he look like a kind of dirty and vaguely haggard version of... hm.

But he's dead. Cody was very clear on that point. There was a memorial held for all the fallen Jedi in Palpatine's massacre of them, and Kenobi was very much acknowledged as gone.

(But they never found the body, right?)

(And ffs, this is Kenobi they're talking about. It wouldn't be the first time he came back from the dead.)

So Nax is suspicious but he plays it off well. Then he calls in a suspected Jedi sighting & probably tries to snap a subtle pic of Kenobi to send to his personal contacts and go hey yo are you seeing what I am seeing???

And his personal contacts are um. A 501st group chat.

FMA Spy × Family Au

Roy is part of a (or the founder of a very small??) group that plans to overthrow the Fuhrer. Mais is his Frankie. The rest of the gang (minus Hawkeye) are also part of the group.

Hawkeye is an assassin, and doesn't know Roy initially

Ed is an orphan with an exceptional mind—at least, as far as the shitty orphanage he (& Al) found themselves in is concerned. The truth? He & Al are child prodigies in alchemy. They were discovered attempting to revive their mother and "taken into custody" but actually experimented on. Al's body was disintegrated in the process, and he is now a spirit who can read people's minds; Ed is his link to the living world & the only one who can hear/see him, so it can come across like he has the ability to read minds.

Ed and Al, like Anya, are little kids in this

Basically they get together family-wise very similar to Spy × Family lol, I just wanted to see it with my fav fma family

Ft. Angst such as: Royai pining; Al struggling to cope with existence as "Ed's imaginary friend," no body of his own, and consequently little independent personhood, as well as all the trauma of how he got to this point, while trying to put on a brave face for his brother; Ed struggling with his own experimented-on trauma (including physically, with the realities of being a growing boy with automail limbs), guilt over what happened to Al, attempts to get Al's body back, and dislike/distrust of Roy (Al adores their new "parents", Ed begrudgingly likes Riza but remembers Hohenheim more than Al and projects negative feelings onto Roy, who is... not the best at dadding ngl); Roy and Riza's own trauma; and uh, Nina. In place of Bond.

And (semi-)fluff such as: My fav fma family bonding; Al body-less-ly adopting every cat he comes across; Roy and Ed squabbling over homework; Royai quietly falling for each other; Mais and the gang being The Best Uncles; Ed-Al-Nina weird siblings bonding; and more

Edit to add: Ling takes the place of Damian, but he wants to hang with Ed (while frequently teasing him) while Ed hisses at him like a feral cat lol.

What about a Celine who isn't trying to make a clone of Miyeong, but a Celine who is desperately trying to do her best by her friend's child but is terribly misguided.

A Celine who never wanted kids, who doesn't feel confident in her ability to take care of kids, but here she is with one thrust in her lap anyway, because her best friend is dead.

A Celine who has lost the two people most important to her, and with them, pretty much her entire support system.

A Celine who grew up watching people—children, even babies, included—killed by demons. A Celine haunted by her mistakes, her inability to save everyone, all the faces she saw disappear as they were eaten.

A Celine trying to bury her own terror that this child might have cannibalistic tendencies, that she might be raising a champion for Gwi-Ma.

A Celine who isn't making a Miyeong clone, but feeling so utterly inadequate, trying to strike the balance between giving Rumi a connection to her mother and not encouraging what she believes will lead Rumi to evil, to self-destruction, to vulnerability from other hunters.

(This is Miyeong' daughter, she tries to show the world, herself, Miyeong if she can at all see—this is Miyeong's daughter. She doesn't want to erase that. She can't bring herself to fully embrace that, but in some ways, small ways, she wants to show it. She wants to share parts of Miyeong with Rumi, but she's scared of not knowing just how many she safely can.)

A Celine who cannot look her daughter—her best friend's daughter—her mistakes—her nightmare—in the face.

A Celine who loves Rumi so, so much, and yet not enough. Not completely. Because she is scared, she is flawed, she is as she has always feared, too bitter, too broken, in too deep over her head with no guide on what path to take.

A traumatized Celine who, despite her best efforts, traumatizes her daughter.

What if Celine lost them both that day—one to death, and the other when she had to fight her off and tell her never to come near her again, all for a baby she never wanted and didn't know, but tried to love anyways?

Huntrix Headcanons!

I don't think we've got canon ages for them so imo Rumi's the oldest (2 mos older than Mira), Mira the 2nd (9 mos older than Zoey), Zoey the youngest. They started demon hunting/pop star training around the age of 14, and debuted at about 16.

The girls had a bit of a rocky relationship at the start. They liked each other, but were very awkward at making connections.

Rumi was basically homeschooled hard by Celine with the express purpose of becoming the best demon hunter and told to hide her demon heritage, so she didn't interact much with other kids. She leaned hard on acting the part of new friend/normal girl/kpop-star-&-hunter-in-training to the point where she tended to be overly superficial and awkward.

Celine had a very specific image in mind for her to grow up into (an idealistic version of her mother), and Rumi was very much a rule-following kid trying to fit the image. She also grew up with a specific idea of what it would be like to be part of a hunter trio, and is very excited to have that kind of close bond and wants it to click right away. She's very much a people pleaser, so, despite generally being an obedient kid for Celine, she is overly ready to take part in any shenanigans the girls suggest as a way to prove herself to them.

Child-of-divorce Zoey was used to having to swap between homes a lot, which inhibited her ability to keep strong friendships. She also was frequently bullied as a kid; she's had a lot of insecurities about expressing herself, so she would vacillate between being hyper-expressive and extroverted and being really shy and quiet, which gave her an unpredictable vibe that initially unsettled the other two.

Zoey was a latch-key kid, given a lot of freedom by her parents. She is very likely to suggest shenanigans for the fun and chaos of them, but, rather than being rebellious on principle, she's used to not having to follow a strict lifestyle and not having large consequences for misbehavior.

Mira was used to being a social outcast and the black sheep of her family, and lost her one best friend shortly before they met (more on this later). She imprinted on the girls like a duckling ("these girls are weirdos but they're MY weirdos"), feeling very protective and fond of them very quickly, but she was also incredibly shy and insecure around people she actually wanted to impress, so she didn't really express this.

Mira and Zoey were initially rather intimidated by Rumi bc she was pop royalty & had training in both hunting & music pretty much from birth.

Zoey and Rumi were initially very intimidated by Mira, given her rebellious and deadpan nature, and the fact that she tended to be very quiet and appeared emotionally reserved (dangerous quiet kid energy).

Mira was (of course) a rebellious kid who liked to stick it to authority figures on principle, but Zoey and Rumi being so easily persuaded into mischief put her in the awkward position of being The Responsible One more often than she liked.

Celine was almost always the one to do Rumi's hair and makeup, so Rumi wasn't actually experienced at doing them for herself. Mira helped her with learning to do different hairstyles on herself (tho she usually sticks to her signature braid), while Zoey taught her makeup. She, in turn, helped give them pointers on fighting.

Mira & Zoey also took her shopping for the first time for clothes that she got to pick out in her own style.

Mira had one close friend as a kid who she lost to demons, which is part of why she became so quickly very protective of the other girls, and fueled an intense bitterness towards demons.

Zoey was on the run from home after a fight with her parents when she met Celine and joined Huntrix (Celine got her parents' permission).

A demon who knew Rumi's dad stumbled on her when she was little (like 4 or something) & recognized him in her. They tried to lure her away before Celine killed them. That's when Celine first revealed the full truth of Rumi's marks and what she had to hide.

Honmoon Gone Right Gone Wrong Au

Ok, I don't have the details yet, but in this au Jinu DOES betray Rumi at the Idol Awards BUT, somehow, Mira and Zoey probably don't find out she's a demon until after they harmonize & she gets zapped. Yes I just want the DRAMA of it, we're throwing in all the betrayals & trust issues.

In the human world, Rumi's body is basically in a magical stasis, unconscious. Zoey & Mira are shocked and horrified to see her collapse, and doubly so when they run to her & see the faint demon marks on her. Having no idea what's going on, they get her immediate medical help and call Celine asap.

Rumi, meanwhile, awakes in the demon realm heavily disoriented and in full demon form, which she does not initially realize because Jinu's there, and, oh, that guy just stabbed her in the back. So she probably attacks him (demons have more volatile/heightened emotions?), and he deflects like "Ok chill chill that's not gonna help matters rn"

(She gets a good hit or few in tho bc. C'mon, he kinda deserves it & also she's a badass.)

Jinu is still of course Very Down Bad for Rumi. He saw her flung into the demon realm as well & has been trying to make sure she's ok.

And internally also kind of "🥰 Wow you really are flawed just like me 🥰" and kind of guilty bc wow he really did just take advantage of & expose her insecurities with his backstabbing huh (he has what those in the romance biz call a hell of a grovel before him).

But mostly there to make sure she's ok bc 😬 a demon hunter in the realm of demons???

Except. She's here without her team, her girls, in a somewhat unsteady form she's not familiar with and despises, in ~a whole new world~ full of enemies. She is a badass but she has limits.

Oh the choices: Trust the guy she already trusted who JUST stabbed her in the back, or go it alone in a world and form against her.

Jinu propaganda: Tiger & Bird 🥺🥺

Forced proximity journey ensues! Rumi is Going Through It. Her friends probably know her secret and hate her now, she doesn't know if she'll ever see them again, this hated side of her is apparently what defines her very spirit if it sent her here, and she's in a hunter-hostile environment

Shit is going down in the demon realm, too. Either Gwi-Ma is weakened/defeated and there's a power vacuum, or he's stronger than ever, idk, either way, the normal balance of things has been radically thrown off and it's more unstable than ever.

Idk what's going on with the demons or the other Saja Boys but I hc the boys as becoming besties so Jinu's thing with Rumi probably complicates matters with them; and Rumi learns to see more to demons and embrace all sides of herself, while still taking into account demons are incredibly selfish beings who fed souls to their master/would typically feed on them if given the chance, and maybe she helps (some of) them like canonically she helped Jinu to realize they can and should be better

Zoey & Mira meanwhile grapple with feelings of betrayal from both Celine and Rumi, as well as self-worth issues because of the rift it's tearing in their found family, and grief and fear over losing Rumi. Their goal is to try to get her back, while Celine argues over whether or not they should—does it not show that she is more like her father, bound to be evil, with her being thrown out? (Celine is also struggling bc that's the child she raised and the last piece she had of Rumi's mother, but y'know she is a VERY VERY flawed parent and something of an antagonistic force)

There's stuff probably with the girls struggling with their families (brought up by Rumi's very public collapse? Or maybe just in Zoey's case, while Mira's come into the picture maybe bc she needs something from them for Rumi).

Also Bobby's there freaking out bc he has NO idea what is going on. Does he maybe get clued in (esp since Rumi's not really in like a coma but a magical stasis) or no...? Idk but he's there and he's also not having a great time poor guy

I just. I gotta talk about that young!Joel scene.

The palpable anxiety of it all. The way Dad Miller gets slapped in the face with the fact he's an abusive fuck ("I won't let you hurt him"), so he swaps to playing the 'chill dad.' The way he pulls out two beers—he's "respecting" Joel, "meeting him man-to-man" (parentifying him, sharing toxic habits); the way he leans over to open Joel's when Joel sits there, and Joel, brimming with suppressed fear and anger, has to bury that deeper, takes the beer, plays along with this forced levity because he has to defuse the situation.

Dad Miller trauma dumping, and Joel actually asking the "why hurt us then" question. Dad Miller playing the old "it wasn't *as* bad, so it wasn't *that* bad" card. The mixture of anger and denial that he's like his own dad, the tears (for himself, what he's become) because he knows he is. The way he tried to break generational trauma, but not hard enough.

The fact it haunts Joel so many years later.

And... the way Ellie can't trust Joel. Not wholly. Big lies to her face—"to protect her", but they hurt her, scar her somewhere deep. The way he barges into her room unannounced, flips out on her and her girlfriend, pulls the "not in my house" (only to be shut down by communism lol).

But also, he listens. He tries to understand and do better. And Ellie still trusts him, when he's gotten mad at her, to come into her space, and to touch her, without flinching back. Not fully—she keeps things from him (the moths, lowkey the fact that she's a lesbian), because he's proven that he will flip out on her and try to control her, but she WANTS to be able to trust him, and to build a relationship with him, if she feels he can and will actually meet her halfway.

Idk. I'm catching up on Tlou after finishing Andor & ep 6 really said "Hey let me stab you in allll the parental issues & feels and twist the knife a little!" I'm having Emotions.

Actually I'm going to talk more about Bix bc I love her & I'm sad.

The problem with Bix for me is—I got what I wanted but not how I wanted it.

I'm glad she has a home, I'm glad she's back with B2, I'm glad she has a child she clearly loves. She deserves healing. I spent a lot of s2 mentally cheering on a divorce arc with Cassian rather than killing her off and I was so happy she lived (and as someone who can definitely see Jyn & Cass as besties/siblings instead of lovers, the idea that Bix and Cass would get together in a better *cough* fix-it fics pls *cough* world is sweet).

I hate how it was framed as her leaving for Cassian's destiny. They had a chance for more thematic richness in dealing with burnout, with wearing yourself to the bone and the brink of suicide trying to fight the horrors of the world, with needing to fill your own cup and the question of how much you must sacrifice of yourself to the fight vs finding peace in a world so awful, etc, and instead they... went the tired old route of "I'm leaving bc I'm (the woman) dragging you down and I don't want to do that."

Yes, that other stuff was in the background, but it just felt like so much of her story and struggle was wound around how it was affecting Cassian first, and not about her as another facet of the theme and a being in her own right, and it didn't sit well with me.

And it was an added kick in the teeth for me that they made her break-up via, essentially, a text (the old quiet lowkey cruel slip away with just a note or something left behind, my beloathed, give us the actual difficult conversation please), and then never tell him about what is presumably his child (and yes, I can see some reasoning behind it, but the "bearing his secret child she never told him about" is another tired cliché, and I'm choosing to ignore any undertones that she did it so as not to drag him down or that the kid is his legacy instead of a part of her continued story).

Idk. I love her, and I need to squeeze in a fix-it of my own I think, but I wish a little more effort and care would've gone into her character and the depth of the theme instead of what we got.

Just finished Andor, so some thoughts:

Over all, I think it was a really good show, and I'm really going to miss it. I kind of wish I'd dragged it out more lol, but I don't think I could've paced myself to an episode a week.

I really loved the development of Kleya that we got, and now she's def one of my new favorite characters.

We got criminally little of K2, but I loved (most of) what we got. (Tbh Cass & Wilmon pausing to load him up in the middle of the massacre landed a little awkwardly imo but I can kind of understand the decision.)

I... did not love how they handled Bix. I'm glad she lived and got a relatively happy ending, but having her just up and leave to further Cass's potential, not even tell him face to face just bail, and never tell him about what is presumably his child... idk, it felt like a rather gross, lazy, and cliché handling of a female character. "The Man is important to serving the cause and saving the world and the woman is to go back to the farm and have his legacy so his sacrifice is all worth it" is the vibe it was giving and that is an old and misogynist trope I was not happy to see playing out here. Felt like a Bring Honor To Us All "a man by bearing arms, a girl by bearing sons" moment. I'm not saying it's wrong for a woman—especially one who has done and been through so much—to get to live in a relative peace and have a child; it's more about the narrative of HOW this was handled, how it lines up with a misogynist trope because of how it was presented and the choices she made to get there, that I don't like. Again, Bix getting to live in relative peace as a mom is not the problem; HOW it was written—ye olde "I shall leave so as not to drag you down, great man", breaking up via text, and never telling him about (presumably) his kid, is a cheap and lazy way of getting there that does disservice to her character, imo.

Still really did not like how they handled Cinta's death either and think it did, at the very least, skirt the line of Bury Your Gays. Not so much because a lesbian character died, but because (again) of how it was handled. Idk, something smells about the way a lesbian character and WOC, who was near completely absent throughout the rest of the season, was given the ol' lesbian-death-by-stray-bullet in a way that was NOT, actually, given the same kind of weight that the death of other side characters was, directly after her moment of happiness/declaration of love. Yes, other characters die, and I personally agree that Vel and Cinta should not have had guaranteed plot armor in this particular show; but this show and this decision don't exist in a vacuum. HOW they killed her, how they showed the fallout, doesn't sit right with me.

It fits the pattern of how lesbian characters tend to get treated in media, which feels lazy and disrespectful. It felt poorly done, not only in method and timing, but also in the aftermath of it. The moment was cut with Luthen & Kleya practically giggling together and Bix having a BAMF scene—two scenes of relief and triumph. The focus on her storyline wasn't even about her. It wasn't even so much about the pain of her white lover—which itself would be wrong but ig there would be SOME connection to her in the hole she left behind—as it was emphasizing the feelings of the rando (white) guy who killed her. In a vacuum, sure, Vel's speech is interesting; as the narrative cap to Cinta's life, it's a weird ass choice imo.

Also I still think Vel would've been the more interesting one to die; Cinta just got a chance to be vulnerable, so ripping that away from her would hit more than ripping her from Vel did, for me. I know it might've been due to scheduling conflicts with the actress, but considering how little screentime Vel had after it... idk, would swapping her out for Cinta have been that difficult? It would have balanced out how absent Cinta was, too, and remove the lowkey racist feel that barely giving Cinta any screentime and bringing her back just to kill her had...

I do think it was a generally good show, I'm sad to see it end, and I've been bugging my friends to watch it and give me their thoughts. But I don't think it's above criticism, and I'm really getting uncomfortable with the way some fans try to shut down that criticism with moral shaming—the "are you really gonna be so petty and shallow over some perceived flaws when the political themes are so important?" types when yes, it's actually possible to... digest political themes (esp those that for me are preaching to the choir) AND criticise mishandling of women and lesbians, esp if that mishandling veers accidentally into harmful tropes that do a disservice to the political themes as well. Or if it's not moral shaming, it's sneering about a lack of ""media literacy"" bc catching onto themes that are retrodding tired and problematic old ground is... stupid, apparently?? Idk. I'm not saying all criticism is in-depth and well-thought-out, nor that it's all right/everyone must agree with it, but I wish we could ditch the moral shaming and digs at intelligence for daring to criticise, and let people discuss it more civilly. (Civil disagreements are so underrated actually, I love seeing different opinions that help broaden my own on things, even when I don't agree with them.) But I don't think anybody's actually read this far lol, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ .

GAAAAAAAAAAH I'M SO EXCITED FOR IT. And greedy honestly bc one of my first thoughts was "ooh cool can we have a complementary piece to it that follows Nya and get all the RB sibling parallels/contrasts and feels" bc like, didn't she end up by/in the Realm (now land) of Madness?

Picture it: We see Kai battling The Horrors in the form of monsters and loneliness and losing himself as a hero, while Nya battles The Voices she cannot escape, trying to turn her or use her or w/e.

RB siblings are so interesting bc Kai has always been more dependent in his relationships with others; like in the early days when he was part of a team whereas Nya was often on her own and made Samurai X, or how they interacted with their parents, where Kai soaked up the attention while Nya chafed at it.

Nya also has some trauma that could be explored that could relate to the realm—like when she was first captured by Garmadon and seemed to have been held captive for quite some time, when she was turned evil by that demon goo stuff, when Nadakhan tried to use her for his evil designs, etc.

I love love LOVE seeing my favorite ninja (tied with Lloyd) back in the spotlight, I hope it's as good as it looks and super successful, but I also hope it convinces Lego to invest in more stories like it!
