a short dream about mugwort acrylic on canvas, 30x24in -- when i first started painting this at the beginning of the year, i had a very different vision. as i lived with the image my view of it changed several times. i'm happy to have settled here.

while waiting in an airport in miami i wrote down my thoughts about preparing for this painting. it was very cathartic and so was finally finally finally finishing this. i feel like i put my whole being and also the 20 years between then and now in it.

feeling extra grateful recently to have art as a means of reflection and spending time w people i love but am apart from. digital is always fun but I have been very happy to work on the canvas lately (also lost my wacom bc im dumb lol). i am so surrounded by technology on a daily basis--intense, rapid technology that is always focused on being faster! + better! and is dictated by an agenda that rewards the production of more economical and more "beautiful" and more perfect imagery. my favorite part of art tho is that I get to spend lots of time thinking about and sitting with one person/place/thing without being rushed… I know this is a privilege that some people wouldn’t even get to have in several lifetimes so i never take it for granted. even so, it can be hard to do this where I am 😕 but luckily I have also met so many ppl who are intentionally creative and have taught me new things about the joy of making art ☺️🫶 anyways I paint pictures out of love and this is a painting of my mom
