So. In light of recent events... I won't be posting this. Not as a vsmp fic - and I probably won't post any vsmp fics for a while in general as all of my ideas and drafts contained Avid.
I've gotten into DC as well, so might be posting some of that?? Who knows
tbh im not entirely immune to a villain with a tragic backstory but i do think villain origins are a lot more interesting when the focus is less "here is the original sin, the first big bad thing that happened to them that made them who they are" and more "here is the first time a person who maybe otherwise felt powerless in their life realized that they could hurt someone and get away with it"
you can get a lot more mileage out of analyzing a truly abhorrent character through the lens of like. what sort of conditions would allow or even incentivize this kind of cruelty? what kind of person benefits from those conditions and how? over the more typical who hurt them type analysis. imo.

There's a new vigilante in New York City.
They're around Peter's age, seventeen, maybe eighteen. With white hair and neon green eyes.
What gets his attention most of all, though, is the same thing that has gotten everyone's attention.
On Phantom's back are brilliant white peacock wings. The back striped with royal purple, the underside speckled with dots like stars and eyespots that seem to move and blink in the same purple.
The final feather of each of his wings blends into fire. Burning bright and lighting up everywhere he goes.
A Phoenix.
Phoenixes don't exist, is the thing.
They can't.
Someone can only become a Phoenix if they're a canary that survives what was supposed to kill them.
Which isn't possible.
And yet.
