The Death of Net Neutrality - Another Nail in the Coffin
Please go ahead and tell me how you think this helps us be free.
More Infrastructural Spending by ISPs
Lies. Spending has been up 15 - 30% depending by the ISP? Need proof? Look at Verizon's financial records and mail to stockholders stating "net neutrality will not inhibit investment in new infrastructure". They will continue to not spend money giving better internet to poor rural areas.
Ending Net Neutrality Will Expand Internet Coverage
You now have no idea how networking works. If the way your house or neighborhood is wired can only support a small capacity (or bandwidth), fast lanes do absolutely nothing.
Companies That Compete Will Keep Unpopular Policies Out
Most areas only have 1-3 internet providers. Internet service providers also share characteristics of an Oligopolistic industry. This means few big firms control the market with high barrier to entry and other mechanics to knock out competition. These few big firms can cooperate and all implement the same unpopular policy to negate the threat of competition. With internet becoming an inelastic good for many, we will all pay the price regardless.
Simply put - someone with half a brain needs to tell me why banning net neutrality is good for anyone not owning stock in ISPs. This isn't fake news... this is your government taking away protections.
I guess I shouldn't be shocked why the far-right Trumpeters want this. They seem to like removing protections on dangerous things:
Moral standards regarding a President discriminating against race, sex, gender, age, and disabled persons
Moral standards regarding elected officials and sexual assault
Additional taxation to the elderly hoping to not outlive retirement
Removing tax incentives for all college students
Further reducing effective incomes of teachers by removing their tax credit
The continued fight against gun reform in a nation where change needs to happen; yet is only talked about when blood has been shed
Removing protections for over 2 million square miles of public parks
People keep asking me why Democrats feel a sense of moral superiority. It's because our freedom is for not just the white. Not just the male. Not just the New Yorker or the guy from Detroit. We want to raise funding for the VA and Planned Parenthood. We believe by funding education, we will be leading the charge in sustainable job creations in both the public and private sectors. Freedom is not just those who can pay for it, but for those who inhabit this Earth.
So yes. As a Democrat I do feel a sense of pride. I feel pain when the Republican party tries to talk to me about freedom. Nothing but. Seems like I can't have true freedom as a transwoman living openly, but all hell breaks loose when we want to take away guns from the mentally unstable. Where's the bible verse for that by the way? "Thou shalt not take a man's gun, for it is tradition".
Net Neutrality was a freedom boxed in a Government regulation. I guess the incessant hatred of regulation and Obama drove the death of yet another Freedom at the hands of the Republican party. Funny how they love executive orders and other regulations if it involves Trump, banning Muslims, or regulating a woman's uterus.
This post is the culmination of a year's worth of political angst. This year has been terrible for the progress of our nation.
