i think "oh my childhood doesn't even impact me that much" & then im Afraid To Sit in The Living Room
I keep seeing the "chat is a fourth person pronoun" post and it's getting increasingly hard to avoid starting discourse in the notes of it. chat I don't think they know what these linguistics terms they're using mean
it's literally just a noun. the reason it grammatically doesn't feel like it means the same thing as any existing pronoun and must be in a different category is that it's not a pronoun. it's in the same class of word as "gang" or "folks" or "ladies and gentlemen". there's nothing new going on here it's just an ordinary noun being used like a noun.
In bigger letters for those in the back:
As a critiquer, your job is not to “make this piece of writing better” but to understand what the writer wants to achieve and help them to achieve it
Applies beyond writing as well.
Also applies to editing. I was recently talking to another writer whose editor (at a publisher) almost destroyed her desire to keep writing. Writers, know the signs of a shitty editor versus one who actually wants to help you achieve your vision, and don’t be afraid to ask for a different one. (Or fire a bad one if you’re indy.)

Pray for my mothers they're really going through it
another day of saying things I don't necessarily even agree with
saw v is one of the funniest movies ever actually
mutual 1: need him *picture of an anime character who looks like his name is laffy taffy

mutual 3: i hope mark hoffman from the saw movies gets carried off by strong ants and eaten by bigger stronger ants
mutual 4: need him *a cartoon computer
mutual 5: need him *herbert west from reanimator
mutual 6: they should make it so your body can be torn apart without it hurting like fuuuuck i would be going up to people i hate and ripping my own spine out in front of them just to change their lives forever
mutual 7: five nutes at freddys!!!!!
mutual 8: tire came off on my way to my job it’s over
mutual 9: need him *weevil
mutual 10: need him *guy from a show that hasn’t aired on tv in over 20 years
mutual 11: need him *weevil again
I swear we will never forget how the slow death of these babies was literally being televised.
The whole world knows now that these babies have had their oxygen cut off from them by israel and the whole world knows that the hospital they are in is being bombarded by israel and the whole world knows that the families of these babies were being held hostages at gunpoint by israel inside the Al Shifa hospital.
The whole world also knows three of these babies have died already as the NICU shuts down.
Those who are silent about Israel's atrocities have made a deliberate choice to go down in history as the most shameless cowards. This is a very avoidable tragedy that you have chosen to maintain with your silence.
To clarify, this is a war crime, the Geneva convention bans the targeting of medical transport. There's no caveats. It doesn't actually matter who's driving it.
The last month has taught me that apparently all the Geneva convention is really good for is getting indie games to change a red medical cross to some other medical cross and that it can do fuck all about actual war crimes.
it is so disgusting watching other white people reassure each other about taking breaks from social media and "prioritizing your mental health" when literally the one thing Palestinians are asking for more than anything is that people do not look away from what is happening to them
shockingly on the no reading comprehension site, people have no reading comprehension
did i say "fuck you and your mental health" or did i say that it's disgusting to watch white people reassuring each other about not paying attention to a genocide being enacted in real time (with direct contributions from their own governments in many cases) when that's exactly what the victims are asking for?
sometimes bad things happen and you will feel bad about it! that is normal and does not mean that you should just ignore them happening! of course you feel sad, it's fucking sad! of course you feel angry, it's fucking horrific and unjust! none of this means you should should look away to remain comfortable and undisturbed
also no one expects you to ignore your own life and be glued to the news 24/7 so stop pretending this is what people mean by "pay attention"
article from 2022, just to put things into perspective:
Save the Children study finds that 80 percent of youths in besieged enclave live in emotional distress amid Israeli blockade and repeated mi
Over half of Palestinian children in the besieged Gaza Strip have had suicidal thoughts in the past year, according to a report published by Save the Children on Wednesday. [...] Around 55 percent of children have contemplated suicide, while three out of five children have self-harmed, Save the Children revealed. [...] A report from Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor last year found that nine out of 10 children in Gaza suffered from some form of conflict-related post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). [...] Around 59 percent of caregivers documented an increase in youths experiencing difficulty in speech, language and communication, while 96 percent said they themselves felt unhappy and constantly anxious. “The children we spoke to for this report described living in a perpetual state of fear, worry, sadness and grief, waiting for the next round of violence to erupt, and feeling unable to sleep or concentrate,” said Jason Lee, director for Save the Children in the occupied Palestinian territories. “The physical evidence of their distress – bedwetting, loss of ability to speak or to complete basic tasks – is shocking and should serve as a wakeup call to the international community.”
I'm reading about how Israel, in the immediate aftermath of the 1948 Nakba, deliberately replaced olive trees and other indigenous flora with European plants. This ecological disaster, which is now proudly hailed under the banner of 'making the desert bloom,' was done to 'de-Arabize' the landscape, and to cover up - often with fast-growing European pine trees -the ruins of Palestinian villages that were destroyed by Zionists forces.
And I just need everyone to read this passage from Pappé, because the symbolism of what happened to those European pine trees in the desert speaks for itself:
The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine, by Ilan Pappé (2006, p. 227-228.)
in the club freakin it in a sensitive style
According to Palestinian journalist Hind Koudary and the RNN, it looks like internet connection in Gaza has been restored.
Here is their update. Glory to the Palestinian resistance in Gaza.
