@shauni777
I have no idea who made this but it is pure gold.
My father has been getting on my ass about my cats. They're both clawed and despite many toys, 2 cat trees and 6 cardboard scratchers their claws tend to be rough on furniture and my skin. My father says I'm wasting money by putting soft paws nail caps on them & that they should be declawed. He even said that soft paws are damaging! Am I doing the right thing?
Hell yes you’re doing the right thing. Declawing is mutilation (because it’s literally amputating a joint on each toe) and cats are often in pain their entire lives. Soft paw nail caps are expensive and a pain and the cats might think they’re annoying, but they’re by far the better choice. Props to you for standing up to him about it.
oh God, just do a little research on declawing and see the horror stories! Most vets these days won’t even do that anymore! My jerk co-workers son took his doberman in and said he wanted his tail docked and ears clipped and the vet was like, we don’t do that anymore. It’s unnecessary and mutilation.
I am pro-declawing as long as the vet is good. I have three healthy, lovable fur babies and they are all fixed and they don’t have front claws (Their back claws are still in tact) they are all indoor cats with no danger of getting out doors (If they were out door cats hell yeah they’d have all their claws)
My eldest cat is almost 15, she has had NO health problems for a cat her age, her paws are perfect she has had no pain in them. Same with my other two babies.
My vet did stitches and we used the special litter. Contrary to what you’d be led to believe declawing is a common surgical procedure done under anesthesia and if done correctly, there will not be any lasting effects. It is just like any other surgery: there are some risks from the anesthesia and blood loss, but most of the times and if done by a competent veterinarian, there are no lasting effects from the surgery. Contrary to some opinions, declawing is not likely to drastically change their behavior or personality, nor does it necessarily predispose him to future behavioral problems. On the other hand, it creates a more rewarding experience between cat and owner because you don’t have to scold kitty all the time for clawing inappropriately.
Another pro-declawing is when rough-housing between kitty and another pet results in a scratched cornea and the risk of the other pet (my dog) losing an eye. The choice for the owner then becomes either to declaw or give up a cherished and loved pet, so it is pretty obvious here what the most humane choice would be. A person that decides to declaw his/her cat should not be vilified, instead encouraged to give the cat a home and love as long as the cat lives.
If you check the internet, you can find one of those sites about the “horrors” of declawing a cat. They have pictures of an actual surgery of declawing a black cat. I have two things to say… Despite many warnings of how graphic the pictures are, there is not much blood to see. This proves that the declawing surgery is not as bloody as described, and even when the pictures where taken by an anti-declaw vet tech which most likely attempted to make the surgery look a gory as possible. Second, I can see where all the horror stories come from. This surgery was done very poorly. Using a nail clipper to remove the claws is a procedure that is not done very often anymore. It can leave bone splinters behind and the possibility of nail regrowth. The procedure done most often involves an incision behind the claw and continuing against the bony structure until the last digit falls away from the paw using a scalpel (called disarticulation method). This method does not break any bone and insures that no bone splinters are left behind and that there is no possibility of nail regrowth. You can see that the claw is removed carefully and would only remove the claw along with the distal phalanx (the bone where the claw is attached to) as shown on the picture below. In the pictures presented in the anti-declaw website part of the middle phalanx is being crushed.
The above is an image of what actually declawing looks like.
Declawing is also recommended to be done to cats before they turn 2 years of age and to be done the same time as spay/neuter. Some vets also put an anesthetic block in their paws so they won’t feel pain when they wake up. And they heal very quickly! It is recommended also by vets that you only remove their front claws because the back ones are important in their grooming and god forbid if they did get outside.
So yes, declaw your kitty @lepetitselkie just make sure you research your vet first to find out what kind of procedure they do. Just like with any surgical choice the doctor is key.
It is NOT hard to do some damn googling people!!!!
It takes a hell of a lot to piss me off to where I respond to it in public, but this, this actually makes it hard to engage a civil fashion. Especially because you also had the gall to send a pretty condescending note about how I should do research before I consider myself an expert. Here’s the thing about academic and practical knowledge - it’s often far more complex than what people find on a google search. So, let’s break this down for you because I know a hell of a lot more about this than what comes from ‘just google’. In fact, if you actually took the time to do a couple google searches, the first thing you’d find is that declawing is considered animal cruelty and banned in at least 22 countries.
Okay, so there’s two different topics to dig into here: the science and the ethics. Let’s start with the science, because that’s easier to break down while I try to stop raging internally.
Here’s a much more detailed image of what the inside of a cat’s paw actually looks like, because the one embedded above leaves out some rather important details.
Okay, so what you’re looking at here is the cross-section of a toe with the claw retracted. Cats walk digitigrade, meaning that their weight is borne entirely on the toes rather than on the internal bones of the foot. The last bone that the claw is attached to is called the distal phalanx (plural: phalanges). You’ll notice that there are two tendons and an elastic ligament attached to it. For a cat to be declawed, that bone must be removed, which means all three of those connective tissues must be severed. That’s going to impair mobility even after it heals (tendons work because of their attachments) and that’s incredibly painful.
Here’s an image of a cat’s paw actually bearing weight. Notice how, because cats walk digitigrade, literally all of it’s weight is on the distal phalanx? Cats walk with all of their weight on the bone that declawing removes. Look at the position of the middle phalanx - it’s perpendicular to the ground and not in an orientation to bear weight comfortably in the slightest. When you declaw a cat, that’s the bone they’re left to put all their weight on and it’s understandably uncomfortable. It’s possible to help cats adjust by leaving part of the distal phalanx in the paw, but that a) means cutting the bone in half and having it heal and b) risks claw regrowth out of the bone and through the extant soft tissues.
At one teaching hospital, between 50%-80% of cats had post-surgery complications. Numbers from other studies vary - the ones cited on the declawing wikipedia article provide a decent sample range, and the complication rates were: 24%, 53%, 1.4%, 82.5%, 51.5%, 80%. All over the place. Reported medical complications include: pain, hemorrhage, laceration of paw pads, swelling, reluctance to bear weight on affected limb, neuropraxia (transient motor paralysis), radial nerve damage, lameness, infection, abscess, tissue necrosis, wound dehiscence, incomplete healing, protrusion of 2nd (middle) phalanx, claw regrowth, scurs (growth of deformed claw segments), retention of flexor process of third phalanx, chronic draining tracts, self-mutilation, dermatitis, lethargy, palmigrade stance (walking on wrists), chronic intermittent lameness, chronic pain syndrome, flexor tendon contracture, and cystitis (stress-associated bladder inflammation).
Long-term lameness is common, but also understudied. One review of related studies reported long-term lameness in 1% of cats, but another with a different sample size and source found that 13.6% of cats showed at least mild lameness long after healing (source).
Chronic pain in declawed cats is incredibly hard to assess. It hasn’t been well studied, cats are cryptic (quiet) when in pain, and most owners are notoriously bad at accurately identifying or reporting behavior in cats that indicates pain. That doesn’t meant that we have evidence that most declawed cats aren’t in pain - there’s just literally no data. We do know that there are frequently observed avoidance/pain behaviors such as walking oddly, not stepping on litter or similar surfaces, paw shaking, and paw biting that correlate highly with cats who have been declawed. Claw growth and arthritis from being declawed are obviously painful chronically.
Okay, so there’s your science. Now let’s talk ethics. In fact, here’s an anecdote for you.
My father’s toenails destroy bedding like little demons. No matter what he does, how much he clips them, how short they are, his toenails will inevitably shred the bottoms of sheets pretty quickly. It’s annoying as hell and my mother keeps mending the sheets or buying new ones when it gets too bad. Now, tell me, should she have the last joints of his toes amputated because it’s an inconvenience she doesn’t want to deal with? Of course not. She knew when she married my father that it would be something that came with the territory and she accepts that fact. Sounds stupid, right?
Voluntary onychectomy is, when simply put, the amputation of a cat’s weight-bearing digits for the convenience of the owner. Most people cite the reasons they declaw cats as behavior problems (scratching furniture) or aggression towards humans. Both of these problems are entirely resolvable through management and/or appropriate training with a little bit of effort on the part of the owner(s).
When you declaw a cat, not only do you put it through an entirely unnecessary, painful, and potentially traumatizing procedure, you forever remove from it the ability to engage in all of it’s natural behaviors. The simplest natural behavior is just walking on it’s feet correctly. Evolution creates certain physical structures for their specific efficacy and when you lop off your cat’s toes for your own convenience you forever force it to walk in a way that is unnatural for it. You also remove it’s ability to scratch, climb and stretch.
I do not believe that people should be allowed to have pets if they are not prepared to handle what comes with them. Scratching and using their claws for communication are natural behavior for a cat and therefore should be assumed as part of the price to pay for the luxury of cohabitating with one. If you’ve accidentially encouraged claws-out aggressive play or if you’re pushing your cat so far past it’s comfort zone that it keeps scratching you, that problem is entirely on you. If you’re declawing your cat because you prioritize the state of your furniture over the cat then you don’t deserve the luxury of getting to own a cat. If you need to mutilate an animal to make it fit into your life, don’t get the goddamn animal.
I have said this a million times and I will say it again: If you want a pet whose welfare you are willing to sacrifice for your own ease of care, you are not responsible enough to own any living creature. As sentient beings who make the conscious choice to take on the care and welfare of a living creature (or six), it’s an ethical imperative that we provide the highest quality of welfare possible even no matter what the expense or time investment required.
It’s entirely possible, as we’ve shown numerous times on this blog, to use planning and appropriate management to eliminate the irritations that come with a cat having and using claws. Cats can be trained to play without hurting, humans can learn to read cat body language, claws can be clipped or dremeled as an entirely positive experience, and soft-caps can be applied. All it takes is time, dedication and forethought.
So, @fat-and-nerdygirl, it is for all of the above that I am appalled that you are actively advocating for unnecessary declawing procedures. This girl does not appear to have any of the severe medical conditions that would make it vaguely acceptable to consider declawing for her safety. It’s simply that her cats are being cats - that’s the only problem. You’re advocating she put her pet through an unnecessary surgery for basically no reason when she’s already found a much more appropriate solution and is implementing it correctly.
More importantly, I am pissed that you are spreading misinformation while advocating for accurate research. Many of your ‘facts’ are flat out wrong. Nail-clipper declaws are still incredibly common, awfully enough. Declaws do not always heal fast - most studies report lameness still present after 8 days and sometimes even up until two weeks after surgery. Just because a voluntary procedure is common does not mean it is good for the animals or ethically okay.
Now, look, I understand. You have four cats who have been declawed and at the moment they don’t appear to be having any issues. It sounds like you did do your research to find someone to do the surgery whose skills and techniques would provide the highest rate of success for your cats. I’m not going to attack your choice to declaw them because at this point it would be moot and I don’t know what your reasons were for making the choice at the time you did. I understand how, after putting four animals through that procedure, it can be incredibly hard to hear newer research come out that indicates that declawing isn’t great for them and questions the ethics of doing so. That’s rough on any pet owner, wondering if you made the right choice for the animals whose care you’re entrusted with. That’s enough to cause anyone to defend their choices more heavily - it’s a pretty common type of cognitive dissonance. But please, please stop spreading misinformation and backing it up with phony requests for ‘better research’ and misleading diagrams. I’m glad your cats are doing well post-surgery, and I sincerely hope they reach the ends of their lives without any complications surfacing.
Not all cats will be as lucky as your four cats.
Some cats will be declawed and forever live walking on bones that were never meant to be in contact with the ground or support weight that way. Some cats will develop claw shards or infections or arthritis. Some cat owners will be devastated to find out that they caused their babies to suffer by choosing what has been touted by peers as a ‘simple, safe, elective surgery’.
Help me stop that from happening to more animals and their humans. Stop spreading misinformation and defending an archaeic solution to the problems that arise when humans are lazy about caring for the animals they take into their homes.
😂😂😂 why he do that poor baby like that
I just added ten years to my life by watching this
TURN THE SOUND ON JUST DO IT
These things are fuckin lethal man, I went on one a couple years ago and it felt like my legs were just swept out from under me
Seriously though, yea. I'd never been on one before but decided to try one several years back while visiting my bro and his kids. While I didn't completely fall to the ground trying to walk afterwards, I came damn near close and experienced for the first time a truly wild, drunken walk. I also almost got sick. These things are no joke.
Some individuals with AD/HD, especially without hyperactivity, have an activation problem as described by Thomas Brown, Ph.D. in his article AD/HD without Hyperactivity (1993). Rather than a deficit of attention, this means that individuals can’t deploy attention, direct it, or put it in the right place at the right time. He explains that adults who do not have hyperactivity often have severe difficulty activating enough to start a task and sustaining the energy to complete it. This is especially true for low-interest activities. Often it means that they can’t think of what to do so they might not be able to act at all, or, as Kate Kelly and Peggy Ramundo say in You Mean I’m Not Lazy, Stupid or Crazy?!, they might experience a “paralysis of will” (pg. 65). “The clothes from my trip—a month ago—are just still lying in a heap in the suitcase.” “I spend a lot of time in bed watching TV but my mind isn’t watching TV. I’m thinking about what I should be doing, but I don’t have the energy to do it.”

Do video games count? 😏 And if so, does Super Metroid count? 😏
That memory in particular is now one of my fondest retrospective memories just because of the sheer ridiculousness of the whole story and for how wildly my opinions changed in the 10-13 years that it took place in.
I had a digital painting I did in college that illustrated the dream but I can't find it right now. It's also horribly old and outdated and I really need to redraw/paint it at some point. I'll see if I want to share it later on.
Super Metroid came out when I was 4 and quickly grew to become my brother's favorite game at the time. After the first few completions he did, he started to learn about all the hidden collectibles, the "secret endings" only unlocked by speed running and obtaining the best times and about sequence breaking and utilizing quick multi-command presses to get through the game even faster.
I always loved to watch him play and saw him complete the whole game several times before the incident happened. I immediately gravitated to Ridley, which is what I attribute my initial love of dragons to and whom I still admire as one of the best VG villains, as well as Crocomire. Crocomire, the 8-eyed grotesque, melty-fleshed, round-bodied red dragon that ends up getting pushed into boiling hot lava and is burned alive, only to then briefly become reanimated as a skeleton which jumps out through a spiked wall at the character and scares them shitless before finally collapsing. Yeah, that's the kind of material we're dealing with here on a 4-5 year old (who lived tf out of every minute of it).
So about a year after all this first started, on a particularly late night where I forced myself to stay awake and watch despite exhaustion, I end up having a really bad, realistic nightmare; the kind I'd still probably be terrified of if it were to happen again. It was of the very last boss, Mother Brain, which is basically a giant brain (previously stationary in a glass tank) with a cyclopian eye, a mouth full of sharp pointy teeth which spits lazorz, and a body which is basically a half cybernetic fleshy/veiny baby fetus (no, not joking). She was basically just looming over me in the half-dark of her metallic "prison", advancing ever closer and shrieking like a banshee (as she does in game) with a clear intent to kill. And that was the moment when I lost my shit and refused to watch him play anymore for 4 years.
Fast forward 4 years later to when the original Super Smash Bros came out on N64. As I played, Samus was the character that ended up being my main but back then, she was still referred to as a "he" in-game and in the manual.
I had apparently lost most of my memories of SM, especially of the protagonist and parts of the story. And the "secret endings" were just separate memories unattached to anything.
I started getting interested in Samus' history and info, doing research into her moves as well as any background I could find, and somewhere I found out that Samus was indeed a "she" and not a he. I was enamored by this information (as you do) and immediately brought it to my bro, who just said "well, yeah, don't you remember?".
And that's when all the disconnected memories just slotted right back into place. Ever since then, my love for the series and Samus, Ridley, Crocomire and all the other awesome creatures/characters has grown exponentially and continues to do so to this day. The End.
Reblog if you think asexuality is a legitimate sexuality.
I’m trying to prove something.
Reblog if your blog is a safe place for asexuals.
Can you do something for me, please?
I want you to reblog this if you believe that two people can be very close and physically affectionate with one another, but still have a completely nonsexual, non-romantic relationship.
Even if the two people in question are capable of being sexually or romantically attracted to one another.
Because the friendship I share with someone I consider family in a way that transcends blood has been typecast as a romantic relationship ENTIRELY too many times, and I’m beginning to get sick of it.
I’ve never reblogged anything faster.
Link Fierce Deity VS Majora
This face just screams "I'm fucking tired of this bullshit" and I love it.
But anyway, I love the concept of fierce diety Link and I'd like to know so much more about his (its'?) story. It's awesome to see the Majora battle illustrated in this way, though!
One of my least favorite mental illness things is "hungry but dont feel like eating" and its companions "hungry but all the food in the house is Illegal," "hungry but can't make anything," and "hungry, want to eat, but why bother"
Uuurggg.... Big Mood
Oof yes big mood... #3 especially with a healthy dose of #1 and a little bit of #4 occasionally also.
It sucks even more because I've had terrible GI issues ongoing for a year now, which causes my GI tract to completely retain material, making me feel terribly bloated and not want to eat at all, yet still be hungry. This means the decision of what to eat generally falls on my SO, which I feel terrible about because he doesn't usually like making those decisions either, but my body just makes it impossible to contribute... Unless in a few instances where I have a specific craving.. What's worse is that I usually just end up eating junk food to stave off the feeling of hunger which just doesn't help anything at all...
Goddamn do I hate this so much. I just want to figure out what the hell is wrong so that it can be treated but I've been working on this since Jun of last year now... This stupid city only has ONE GI clinic in the whole place (with the next available being about a 2 hr drive away) and I've gotten such terrible treatment from them over the whole course of this and I'm so fucking tired and fed up with it... I just want to know what's wrong, not be lectured all the damn time about how I need to "eat more fiber" and "try a vegan/vegetarian diet!!!" and "try this ridiculous fod map diet that completely changes your entire eating habits, even though you have severe depression and barely feel like cooking anyway let alone ""health foods"" and don't have the money to sustain such a diet anyway!! And we're not going to do anything more for you because you're just being lazy!!". None of these work for me, even in the instances where I've tried my damndest to make them work, so just shut the hell up and get your damned mind off changing my diet cuz IT DOESN'T FUCKING WORK.
Ugh sorry, I know I'm ranting now, im just fed up with this whole thing and it's making me want to go home so badly but I can't do that either...
So after days of pleading with other countries to spred awareness about the current situation in Serbia, a tweet with a video showing police brutality got spread:
And a lot of the responses were:
Apparently only problems worth talking about are those of first-world countries. And it seems that to a lot of people Europe will always remain just England, France, Germany and Italy. And let all of us living in small countries oppresed by totalitarian regimes rot ig.
I am sick of this selective activism.
And Fuck America.
Serbia’s leader, Aleksander Vucic, is very similar to Trump in that he is more of a TV person than an actual educated politician. I think the two are even friends, or at the very least Vucic looks up to Trump.
Their issue regarding police in Serbia stems less around the BLM movement and more so around the pandemic and the country’s response to it.
When the pandemic began, they imposed what was essentially a military curfew on the people. Anyone caught outside for any reason was beaten by officers and thrown in jail. This didn’t even help flatten the curve overall because the leader continued to allow soccer matches and other big social gatherings to take place.
Not only that, but around the time of the election in June of 2020, Vucic made the abrupt claim that the virus was gone and it was safe again, and he lied about the number of cases and deaths. Obviously, this was a ploy for him to get reelected. In fact, they lied so bad that they messed up the distribution of data, so people caught on rather quickly. But either way, people believed him, he got reelected, and he immediately went back on his claim, continuing to throw people in jail if caught outside. The people were rightfully pissed and riots broke out.
So yes, Serbia does have it extremely bad. Just because it’s a small country doesn’t mean it’s issues are irrelevant, and anyone who feels they can dismiss this shit because these aren’t Americans can fuck off. You clearly don’t care about other people.
Please reblog this version of the post because no one knows anything about Serbia and they are experiencing their own Trump reign.
Fucking sick of things like this being dismissed because it’s small countries in Europe
Help raise awareness for Serbia!!
Y’all want to see something wild?

Jesus fuck that was a read💀💀💀
Idk whether to be depressed or laugh
The US president cites concern over mail-in voting, despite little evidence of widespread fraud.
Yall, I don’t want to be alarmist but…. that’s… concerning.
Top Republicans, including Mitch McConnell, immediately pushed back on the idea - floated by Trump earlier Thursday - that Election Day be d
Well, and least we got this about of it. Even Ted Cruz had to slam on the damage control brakes.
I just want to clarify- even though McConnell and other republicans have slammed on the “NO NO NO we aren’t doing that” brakes- we should still be concerned.
Between this and Trump’s refusal to commit to election results, he is deliberately undermining his base’s trust in the electoral process. By citing “voter fraud” as his reason to try to delay the election, now even though the election WILL happen on time, if (when) he loses, he can claim that the election was illegitimate- that it was voter fraud, that he warned us, that he knew it was rigged, that Congress didn’t do enough to stop all the ~fraud~ that he knew was there, and he will refuse to step aside peacefully.
He has been placing armed mercenaries in major American cities run by democratic mayors, and he is laying the groundwork to claim that the election is illegitimate if (when) he loses.
You need to vote, so that both the Electoral College and the Popular vote are against him, and when this asshole finally breaks the tradition of the peaceful transition of power (which is what he is planning), when you need to be willing to protest and fight more than you ever have before.
Like, I do not want to be an alarmist here, but we could be looking at like… Congress having to send in armed men to remove this man from office, and depending how the Republicans in power and his base handle that, we could be looking at a level of violence in the transition of power that is literally unheard of in the US.
^^^^^^ This.
This si why you vote blue even if you’re in a scarlet state with no hope of winning the electoral college.
This is why you vote for Biden even if you loathe him with every fiber of your being.
This is it.
If we are to have any hope of maintaining a fair system and avoiding an all-out dictatorship, the numbers have to be absolutely unambiguous.
Go. Vote. Blue.
Fuck. Joe. Biden.
Look, YES fuck Joe Biden. And I know that asking people to vote for a shitty option because the other viable option is FAR worse is hardly convincing. I know.
But a vote for Joe Biden isn’t just a vote against Trump. It’s also a vote for all the positions that Biden would get to fill, rather than leave Trump’s people (like Barr and DeVos) in charge.
It’s also a vote for all the judges Biden would appoint (Which is likely at LEAST 1 Supreme Court pick.)
It’s a vote for all of the 700+ positions that the President appoints and Senate confirms (Not just being generally better than Trump’s picks, but ACTUALLY GETTING FILLED. Trump still had over 170 unfilled appointments as of this year.)
And honestly, at this point, it’s also a vote that says “You shouldn’t get to undermine our electoral process and threaten the peaceful transition of power and STAY IN POWER.”
Joe Biden is a bad candidate, and I wish we had gotten nearly anyone else. But I do believe that he’s a candidate who like… generally respects our political process, who could competently staff an administration, who could be reasoned with and compromised with, and who isn’t going to try to crown himself Emperor. Biden probably won’t spend hours a day on Twitter instead of like, reading security briefings. It SUCKS that we have to aim as low as “isn’t literally trying to power grab himself a dictatorship” but the other option is to forfeit your vote and let the dictator get reelected.
So please, for the love of fuck, can we try to temper our disappointment with pragmatism? We should always vote for the best possible option, even if the best possible option is kinda shitty.
As if having a corpse with puppet strings in the office would make things any better. Theres seriously enough resentment towards both major parties that a third party or independent candidate could actually stand a chance if die-hard party-liners could think for themselves.
1. Having Biden, as much of a rat bastard as he is, is absolutely better than Trump, and if you can’t see that then you are lacking in perspective. If for no other reason than Biden, at a minimum, will like… respect the checks and balances of government and not clumsily hint at a coup leading up to his reelection. It’s a low bar, but an important one.
2. No there isn’t. There is no third party in this country that even comes close to winning a SINGLE STATE, much less the entire Electoral College. If you want to see more third party representation, then between now and 2024, you need to campaign HARD for Ranked Ballots and abolishing the EC. But if you honest to God think that any third party has enough support to be viable RIGHT NOW, you are out of your mind.
House:
Senate:
THIS is not a political landscape where your dark horse miracle third party candidate is going to win, and it’s naive to think so. (Also WHO? Which third party candidate do you think enough people could possibly rally behind?)
I’m sorry. It’s not fair that your choices are Joe Biden and the End of American Democracy. But guess fucking what? That’s the choice you get this year. Make it, and then fight like hell to reform our electoral system so you never have to make a choice so rotten again.
Perhaps a controversial statement. But if you can vote in the US and you’re not going to vote for Biden go ahead and unfollow me.
I don’t want your nazi supporting ass on my blog. You do not deserve my content.
Need me to explain? Well the post above me does a great job explaining why your third party vote won’t do shit. And if you just want to sit this one out? You’re helping the current regime get another term.
That current regime is doing its LITERAL BEST to kill my friends, people like me. I’m not being hyperbolic. I said literal and I mean it. More people are going to die if the white house occupant isn’t ousted. So if you’re not going to commit to doing the barest minimum.
Get off my blog.
^^^ Same basically. I hate Biden but guess what? He’s the lesser of two fucking evils by a LONG shot. He’s our foot in the door to fix this fucking catastrophe and oust that mango nutsac.
Biden doesn’t give me the warm and fuzzies either.
But he’s literally the ONLY option for getting the Nazis out of the white house. And if ppl can’t understand that, if they are going to pout because of that… then they are choosing not to help remove the Nazis from power. And I have words for people like that.
For those who can read (unlike the dumbfucks who have been sending in asks) you will see a brilliant post above mine discussing WHY your third party candidate isn’t going to win this year. And also HOW you can work to make that an option other years. But pouting this year and throwing away your vote means you’re supporting Nazis. That’s just the tea on that.
Since I live in California, I was seriously considering voting third party to get them the votes to be included in the debates. I thought this could be the start of diversifying American politics and getting out of the rigid Red/Blue dynamics. That was before the thought about Trump not accepting the results started circulating. Biden having both the popular and EC votes is going to be incredibly important to ensure the transition happens.
I loathe Biden. I absolutely think there are much better candidates who deserve to be president. But this is the reality we’re living in. This election is different for a number of reasons and we cannot stand to have another 4 years of this. We’re becoming numb to all the awful shit that happens everyday, can you imagine what America will look like with another 4 years of this? These people do no care about anything except their power and wealth and will go to horrible lengths to keep it.

SCP Foundation fandom
I’ve just recently been doing a whole lot of DMCA reports regarding youtube videos and wikias linked to the SCP foundation fandom.
I didn’t realise HOW MUCH of my art has been taken and used without permission from here on tumblr and on my DeviantArt gallery.
Now I have a serious problem with this as this fandom seems to think it’s okay to use already existing artwork (unrelated my i add) and using it as a basis for these SCPs. i get that this thing exists in a way that encourages writing etc…but it’s just fucking rude…
People don’t seem to realise that it can lead to long running problems like Copyright infringement and just flat out Plagiarism…considering that this ‘SCP Foundation’ has influenced video games. it is a big deal….
It is NOT okay.
I am MORE THAN CONVINCED the creature known as ‘The Scarlet King’ is heavily based on my Alizarine King/Doctor Strange art and my artwork has been linked to it, even though it has absolutely NOTHING to do with it. I’ve had entire back catalogues of my work used in videos to ‘represent’ these creatures created by individuals to then make fiction from.
I’m putting a message here to let people know that I am aware now and I am pretty upset that people have been using my tumblr and Deviantart as some catalogue to look through and pick out.
I don’t want my work being associated with SCP Foundation…so stop using it…it’s just fucking rude using my work with out permission as it is.
I am not the only artist who has had this problem, but I speaking up because this is a really awful and routine habit and needs to be made aware of.
famed fur-costume maker clockworkcreature pursued the admins of SCP Foundation for proper credit for the wolf skull mask photograph that was used without permission for SCP-1471 on the site. and was denied!
also remember Sirenhead? that artwork by Trevor aka slimyswampghost was also victim to a similar sort of thing as well, someone even made a game without his knowledge.
SO if i find my work is still being used for this shit movement. I will be filing reports to have it removed.
Asking Permission is not hard to do…and if they say ‘No’ then that’s it….art does not magically appear out of nowhere to cherry pick, it is created by people…give them a bit of respect.
So wanted to add some things to this. It’s really disappointing because I enjoy SCP writing a lot, being by hundreds if not thousands of different people. But if the site as a whole isn’t doing their due diligence to secure artist permission for the images they post, then that’s a major issue.
So if you run an image search for Scarlet King on google the first few images that pop up are this one credited to sunnyclockwork https://www.deviantart.com/sunnyclockwork if you follow through to where the image is posted:
and then this artwork which is totally uncredited if you follow through to where it’s posted:
And as you look around, yes, there’s a few other fan renditions, but it’s primarily these two images and any of the art you see if based off of these two images. The first one is supposed to be the Scarlet King, sunnyclockwork does SCP artwork. But the second one is stolen, and it’s all over the place used by fans as the image of the Scarlet King. This is @abz-j-harding stolen design. Look at the other examples of her artwork all over her deviant art page.
From the front https://www.deviantart.com/abz-j-harding/art/He-found-peace-in-the-darkness-581508356
From the back https://www.deviantart.com/abz-j-harding/art/There-Was-A-Sorcerer-Once-732072464
And one more just because it’s such an incredibly cool design. https://www.deviantart.com/abz-j-harding/art/Suspended-Dread-720450576
I also know fore sure I’ve seen that last one used with the name Scarlet King before as well.
So yes, I’m aware it’s mostly fans that are misusing this art, as well as a lot of YouTubers who have been doing the increasingly popular “Explaining SCP” style videos. But SCP is itself a writing collective and a fan community, they are their fans. Those in charge, those running the site, need to be responsible and tell their fans to not use artwork without permission. I? personally see it as more of an issue with YouTubers just grabbing cool artwork to put up over their talking/discussion videos, but still, the SCP Foundation needs to take a stand, make a statement remove artwork when asked, and demand to see actual proof that an artist has given approval for their art to be used when it submitted to an article, and then actually credit the artists somewhere on the article page. This includes photographs by the way.
I really can’t believe SCP is denying artwork take down requests right now (read as shocked, not that I don’t think it happened) considering they’re currently dealing with their own theft problems. I know some guy out in Russia has tried to trademark SCP and use that as a legal foot hold to steal the rights to the site and all their merchandising. So SPC should be very very aware of how destructive this kind of theft can be. But I also want to point out that the theft they’re dealing with includes merchandising rights. SCP foundation does make money from selling branded things. And that can lead to making money from stolen artwork, so they really need to be careful about these kinds of things.
To anyone reading this that are SCP fans like me or even contributors, like, remember, just because a thing you like has done a bad thing it’s not a personal attack on you to see that or recognize it happened. Hold the things you like to a higher standard. Ask that they stop using stolen artwork, apologize to the offended artists, and put in place some system to prevent this from happening again in the future. This is something that can be fixed really easily. Denying the existence of art theft and refusing take down requests doesn’t help anyone, and leads to real and actionable legal trouble down the line.
I also want to address what’s happening with Siren Head at the moment. When I started reading creepy pastas about the character design I though it was neato because I like spoopy stories and fan fic is fan fic is fan fic. When I started seeing games being made though, I was concerned. I haven’t spoken with @slimyswampghost so I don’t know to what degree they’ve given permission for people to use his character in games, but with at least 10 asset flip money grab indy games that have be put out featuring Siren Head in the last couple of months, I can’t imagine they’ve given permission to all these people. It seems like another issue being exacerbated by YouTubers. I know that Markiplier really loves the character design and has done a few videos of him playing these games and talking about him being “The next Slenderman.”
I know in an early video he (Markiplier) did on Siren Head he mentioned slimyswampghost’s art being the inspiration for the games, but if their permission wasn’t granted, then popularizing the character in media that the creator has no say or control over doesn’t help them. Just look at what happened to Pepe the Frog.
