Week 11 - Assignment "Best of CEID100”
Week 10 Assignment
I chose to do the HTML course from Codeacademy.
Week 8 Assignment
Module 7
I enjoyed playing the game because it was sort of like role playing being in the position of a social media company. Most people often criticize the heads of these companies but don't realize how much they have go through when it comes combating cyber security. I chose to use Phasebook as my company and had to defend my company from cyber attacks. Through the amount of challenges completed you gain points to build better security and of these games were coding games where cyber fights which prevent the company from being attacked.
In lecture 7, we learn that it is important for actionable measures be take to stay secure online, like making sure the URL you are on is not suspicious, and making sure you have the right security software.
There was also a game called phish were I had to analyze emails, urls and phone calls and make sure they were not phishing me, which means scamming. This is a form of cybercrime where the attacker will try to manipulate the victim into sending them money in the hope of winning some money or helping someone out. Another game was where I had create a maze that would make it difficult for the hacker to gain access.Cyber criminals usually have strategies as to how to get into a system whether it be a government or just a regular user, they try to gain access in the hopes gaining something valuable such as money.
Module 5 Tutorial Assignment (catch up) -forgot to post
Those who control the media decide what is misinformation. And In today's current times the American progressive left is the propaganda arm of American capitalism, Having said that, these organizations will do whatever it takes to silence those in opposition to their agenda with the label of misinformation.
Misinformation refers to false information that is not intended to cause harm. A piece of misinformation can be seen.
The Canadian state-funded news organization, CBC, made the claim that Russia was potentially behind the Truckers Convoy. The CBC announcer Nil Koksal made the claim that " Russian actors could be continuing to fuel things as this protest grows". This is pure misinformation given the fact that there is found evidence behind such claims. This type of news misleads the public and discredits the concerns of the movement which was towards the federal government and its laws concerning the handling of Covid - 19.
The fact of the matter is that the CBC was given 1 billion dollars by the Liberal government last year and is threatened by the notion of their funding being cut which was proposed by the Conservatives who are pushing to defund their organization. So their reason to discredit anything that goes against the Liberal government actually makes sense because their fighting to save their funding. While in theory, it makes sense, ethically it isn't correct and we can't ignore the fact that it isn't right for Canadians to pay for state propaganda otherwise we are living in a country more similar to Russia.
2. Mal-information refers to information that stems from the truth but is often exaggerated in a way that misleads and causes potential harm.
Trump's muslim ban was founded on Mal-information. In his words he was banning Muslims until the united states "figured out what the hell is going on". The reasoning was given the climate of terrorism and Isis attacks that were happening in the west. This was deliberate capitalization of the paranoia people had about terrorist attacks and Trump chose muslims as a scapegoat.
3. Disinformation refers to false information that is intended to manipulate, cause damage, or guide people, organizations, and countries in the wrong direction. The Chinese government and media outlets stated that Covid 19 came from US military soldiers and was responsible to blame for the virus. This piece of disinformation was put in place to manipulate the international community in the wrong direction. This piece of disinformation was a diversion from the fact that Covid-19 originated in China. The source of this came from a CCP ministry spokesman by the name of Zhao Lijia, who took to Twitter to push this unfound conspiracy theory. The fact that Twitter allows such posts and accounts to continue to become active really shows a lot about their ethics. Especially for the fact that they seem to favor some information as disinformation and misinformation.
After criticizing American officials for politicizing the pandemic, Chinese officials and news outlets have floated unfounded theories that

Module 3: Cookies
Using the Disconnect app extension I see that out of the 6 websites I visited Fox News has the most trackers. I think that cookies are an invasion of privacy and I try to avoid accepting them as much as I can. I don't like the fact that my information is being profited off of.

CEID tutorial assignment 1: Social media communication Part Two
Online netiquette is important because it reflects your reputation and how people see you outside of your online presence. In this post shared by Jordan Peterson shares his opinion of the appearance of a plus-size model on the cover of Sports Illustrated. Jordan Peterson a Clinical Psychologist, a former professor at the University Of Toronto, and author of the best-selling book "12 rules for life" used has trouble communicating professionally with an individual of his stature. Stating "Not beautiful. And no amount of authoritarian tolerance is going to change that. ..." While everyone is entitled to an opinion I don't see how a statement like this is productive, if anything it's a detriment to his credibility as a so-called self-help guru. A man who feels to need to criticize someone based on their appearance is not secure with themselves thus making it difficult to trust for advice. This online netiquette is not professional and came with a lot of backlash.
Week 1 Tutorial Assignment - Social Media Communication #1
The screenshot is of Eric Leija who goes by the account name @primalswoledier an Instagram influencer and content creator who does guide workouts. I like Leija because most of his workouts have videos that are short and to the point with excellent production quality. You get a 30-45 minute workout in 60 seconds of content that you can choose to loop or just watch as a tutorial. Leija's videos and brand show that anyone can start and train with him and this promotes engagement among audiences. His page follows the social media best and demonstrates the practice of engagement, daily posting, and involvement. Leija uses Instagram to leverage his brand and promote his sponsors. has brand partnerships with health brands such as Onnit, famously promoted by Joe Rogan. A majority of his posts are reels and guided workouts that range from core to kettlebell exercises. The fact that he also has many workouts that are just body and no equipment is an excellent approach to attracting community engagement. I see him as a personal trainer but the only difference is the currency in which I pay him is a like or a comment.
