Oh, how Kevin loves seeing Sam like this.  The spooky spirit of the Halloween holiday has positively overcome them, and they’re proving themselves quite the apt teacher as to how Night Vale celebrates, showing him all the traditions of his new home.  It’s quite different from Desert Bluffs, where the standard for all decoration came back to blood and teeth. 

He misses it sometimes, even still, but it’s worth it to be here with Sam instead.  Their joy in decorating makes him smile more sincerely than anything else he can think of.  He kneels next to Claire Elise to pet her head affectionately.

                    ❝  ‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒  Wonderful,    thank    you,  ❞        Sam  glows  at  the  praise  from  Kevin,    all  dolled  up    &    bright  with  the  Hallowe’en  spirit.        ❝  That  sounds  like  an  excellent  place  for  them.    Yes,    yes,    I  can  just  picture  it.  ❞

            They  dance  over  to  the  sofa,    string  lights  stretched  between  their  arms.    They’re  already  dressed  up  in  a  witch  costume  with  fancy,    delicate  makeup    &    a  hooded  cape,    spiderweb  gloves  laced  over  their  hands    &    forearms.    The  absolute  picture  of  seasonal  enthusiasm,    belying  the  prickly  face  they  tend  to  show.    Quite  at  ease  now,    very  much  so.

              Claire  Elise  is  just  enjoying  Kevin’s  attention,    yawning  as  she  sits  up  to  enjoy  the  pats.
