Skin Social!
If I'm honest, I've never really got on with my skin, ever since I got my first spot at the age of 11 I've been trying anything and everything to ensure a healthy, glowing face! That being said, it's safe to say I’ve sampled practically all skin saviors! There was even a time I managed to sell out a product from Neutrogena at my local boots- long story short: I tested it, thought it worked, and decided to buy 10 more just in case they discontinued it..I know, cringe!
Now, onto the juicy bit you've all been waiting for, my skin secrets! First things first, as a teenager myself, I know what a bummer eating healthy can be, with mood fluctuations and crazy hormone levels, no one really has time for a tasteless salad, lets be honest here- so I set out to find something that was more of a quick fix! The first thing I did was buy supplements, doesn't matter what type but trust me, bring in multivitamins (vitamin e specifically) and WOWEE is there a change! Although now I do maintain a healthy life style and get all my vits&mins from fruit&veg, there’s is no way I'll ever take out the supplements!
My next tip is to never buy products that contain a whole load of fancy-smancy chemicals, they'll dry out your skin and sometimes make worse! I always go by one rule when it comes to this: if you can pronounce at least 3 ingredients in it, DON'T BUY IT! Opt for something a little more natural, and by natural I don't mean rubbing tomatoes all over your face! Try something tea-tree based, that's always a winner! Because of its antimicrobial properties, it will kill any micro-organisms that cause disease, hence why it makes such a great spot treatment! It’s often tricky to find natural products like these, and when you do they can be ghastly expensive, so what you can do is simply buy some tea-tree oil from your local drugstore, Boots have a great one for only £8 (and trust me, it’ll last you ages!).
If my skin’s being troublesome, in the evening before I go to bed, what I’ll often do is cleanse, then apply a hot flannel to my face in order to open my pores, pat my face dry with a clean towel, then mix some tea tree oil into my moisturiser and apply all over my face. In the morning you’ll notice a considerable difference in your skin, the inflamed area will have gone down, and your face will be glowing as per usual!
Hope you’ve enjoyed reading my skin secrets and give them a try, thanks for taking me into consideration!
Love, Lily x
