I think Brandon was poisoned, as in he died because his food was dosed with fentanyl.
I've mentioned his lack of mentioned history of drug abuse, but there is a hinted ... sensitivity to even a hint of someone not supposed to be near food. Like someone pretending to be a chef. Not even the guy who Brandon thought was the imposter of his beloved baby brother got it that bad. Mark would have had an easy way to get the drugs. all it took was one nurse walking away, or he pocketed a pill and told a nurse he dropped one and thats that.
Olivia tried to get away. She probably didn't see the water until it was over her head. It was at night, dark, and she was suffering from blood loss. not counting the fact that one of Mark's precious starlings killed her, or the fact that he ignored her call, why were there no lights or anything signaling the fact that the lake was right there?
i think it's more telling that the zombies were able to fuse since one killed 3 parties involved but they really decided that "fuck that guy" was too important, or they decided that Mark was the cause of all of their suffering. probably true; if Brandon died anywhere else, they would not be there.
Okay we don't exactly know the nature of Brandon's death to speculate in this matter. Nor is it stated that Mark would be all willing to poison an employee just for the sake of it. Mark isn't a boogie man who legit murders people.
If evidence comes up in the sequel that Brandon did have a drug use problem I will back down on that point but there’s no evidence of that now and even what else is documented and how well everything is documented, I’m considering that the absence of evidence is the evidence of absence.
That being said, Marks actions caused the death of a lot of people regardless of whether or not he weaponized the starling he created.
Plus fentanyl isn’t like today. It was harder to get a hold of in the eighties and Mark having a hospitalized, sick wife means that he had a better chance of getting it as opposed to a guy on an island where everyone is packed together.
With how desperate he was to get Rex back and how perfect the condition the body was (which is also strange, prolonged drug use causes damage to most systems in the body. Brandon just dropped dead and he was good to go after his system was flushed.)
Maybe Mark didn’t do; it there was another guy that wanted the role of Bucky but Mark had a more reasonable means to access the cause of death and Bucky going after Gary as brutally as he did makes a bit more sense if he died via food tampering.
Brandon thinks he’s Bucky. He should have gone after the guy he thought was impersonating his brother the most violently. We see in hotel investigations that his brother is his priority. Bucky doesn’t hate the goose. There’s be no reason to snap him like a Kit Kat and fry him. There were cleaner and faster ways to do it. Knives.
And there is a reason for Mark to do it this way if he did. He needed a clean control to start with the starling project and killing Brandon like that would offer that- because Mark was using them to figure out how to bring back Rex. Killing Brandon like that would offer a body with the fewest work that needed to be redone on it before they got to work.
Maybe he did do it, maybe he didn’t but the situation doesn’t look great for him.
I unfortunately don't see any evidence of this even with the limited information we have on hand. That being said Brandon most likely killed the actors with whatever was near him at the time. Broadside is known for their negligence, for example Olivia's death after constant reports of Brandon's erratic behavior her warnings were ignored. This could be seen in Workplace toxicity, and in game. That being said the bsb arg series canonicity is in a gray area due to its age and the fact that Squeaks is planning to redo it. Brandon's death was covered up and logically speaking if he was addicted to opioids, he could've gotten something secondhand and died due to that. Again the nature of his addiction is not really explored yet so we'll have to wait and see. implying that someone poisoned him is a bit much imo due to the fact that it erases the fact that yes he had an addiction. Judging by the time period, the opioid crisis was just occurring. Prescription opioids were given to people willy nilly, realistically speaking he could've been given a gateway.
