'Kay so when I first watched Agent Carter in 2015 back when it was brand new and Ana hadn't even been cast yet, I low-key shipped Jarvis and Peggy, on like an entirely conditional basis (i.e., if Ana were to die and then after some time had passed Jarvis and Peggy would connect over their shared grief of losing the loves of their lives and that would eventually blossom into romance etcetera), but then the moment we actually met Ana in season two I was like 'nope I totally get it now I get why Jarvis risked the noose for her she's delightful'.....

ANYway all that to say that after my many, many rewatches of this show, I honestly love Jarvis and Peggy's friendship so much more when it's read as entirely platonic. Like their genuine fondness (and utterly chaotic ride-or-die behavior) for each other is actually more interesting if there isn't anything romantic or sexual about it. They're just Like That and I think that's beautiful.

Lighting the Chanukkiyah

Because Ana Jarvis was Jewish, and that would include celebrating Hanukkah. And of course, she would include her husband and Tony in that as well, because they wanted to share in her celebration of the Festival of Lights.

Since Hanukkah started today, I want to dedicate this to everyone who celebrates this. A very happy Hanukkah to you all, and may its light fill your life.

“Mmm,” Ana frowned at that. “You don’t sound very happy. Was there something you were hoping for?” She asked him softly.

“Not really,” said Tony.  They hadn’t asked him what he wanted, and he didn’t really know anyway.  A hug or something would have been nice.

Ana put her hands on Tony’s shoulders and gave them a little squeeze. “Your father can be a bit-” She paused and pursed her lips. “an idiot.” She settled on.

“That’s much better.” Ana said and delivered him a bowl of the promised store bought ice cream. “So what did you get for your birthday this year hmm?”

Tony was delighted by the ice cream, but not by the question.  He just shrugged.  “Probably another watch.  Or a car.  Or something.  Something expensive but not very interesting.”  Tony’s parents didn’t really know what he liked.

“Mmm,” Ana frowned at that. “You don’t sound very happy. Was there something you were hoping for?” She asked him softly.

I know that the only indication that Tony even interacted with Jarvis are in the comic following the mcu and in endgame where we see that he and Howard are still working together. Still though, imagine the love he could have received from these two - they're such a good representation of true, pure love.

“Don’t you mock me.” Ana said holding up her finger, “I have not given you the ice cream yet and I do not have to.”

Tony grinned shamelessly.  “How about your cake is so good it doesn’t need ice cream?” he suggested.  “Although if you have some I won’t turn it down.”

“That’s much better.” Ana said and delivered him a bowl of the promised store bought ice cream. “So what did you get for your birthday this year hmm?”

“Only from the store. Your father can apparently do anything but buy an ice cream maker that works more than once- he keeps saying he can make one but I gave up on that happening fifteen years ago, so try it first.” Ana told him. She served him a thick slice.

“From the store will do just fine,” Tony assured her.  He thought for a minute.  “I bet I could make you one.  And I won’t put it off in favour of other projects.”

Ana moved to the freezer, “Tell me how you like the cake first then you shall get your ice-cream.” She told him pulling a tub of chocolate out and gathering a spoon for it. “Oh, you know I would love anything you make.”

“Oh, I do not need to break my hip, thank you.” She replied booping him on the nose playfully before taking out a knife and sliced into the cake.

Tony rubbed his hands together.  Anna’s cake was always a treat.  “Is there ice cream?”

“No we wait until the house burns down.” Ana said in her ‘I trick people into thinking I’m a stupid foreigner in order to exploit them voice’ and then laughed. “Of course you do. Happy Birthday my little Tony.” she added and kissed his cheek.

Tony grinned and took a deep breath to blow them out.  He got them all in one.

“That is a good thing to remember, that and not to make promises you cannot keep.” Ana told him smiling softly, “Do I not know my Bogárkám? Even if he is not so little any more. Chocolate with chocolate, and a bit of Whiskey- but do not tell Mr. Jarvis or I will never here the end of it. He still thinks you are twelve.”

Tony laughed.  “My lips are sealed,” he said.  “I won’t say a word to Mom and Dad, either.”  He sat down in front of the cake, still smiling broadly.  “Do I get to blow out the candles?”
