This is the March Character design Challange Impa from the LEGEND OF ZELDA!

One of my gateway games that got me into gaming! There was so much more i wanted to do with this picture but when you destroy your drawing shoulder, you do what you can.  

For the challenge, i got to thinking, what kind of zelda game would I make? If i could, i’d make it way more “medieval”- Knights, towers, Squires, ect. So I went with the idea! the other characters are still stuck in my sketchbook, but here is Impa done. I tried meshing the samurai/ninja type styles that she is usually depicted in with a knight look, giving her something thats easy to move in but still can be Zelda’s protector.

Most of the content (process, research, the finished illustration…dance videos) will be exclusive to patreon backers, but for now here is a public preview of my first piece.

I’ve decided to reimagine Zelda if I had full creative control. So here is a bit of Sheik in a profile view with inspiration from Mali and the Berber people. I’m pumped to bring this to color and paint the fun hair textures and patterns/markings on the face.

For the full illustration you can expect explorations of the lineage and incarnations of Zelda. As well as Zelda as the protagonist with agency *NOT* the damsel in distress.

Anyway I’ve been bouncing up and down in my seat all day to Song of Storms and other fun Zelda OST songs. So uh…subscribe to the patreon for fun art and strange dance videos as part of the process.
