It’s so healing to wake up in a silent house and silently make your own coffee or tea and enjoy the beautifully intricate fullness of the morning silence while remaining calm and collected and unbothered by all outer and inner noise and it’s so low-key elevating and pacifying to rejoice in the silent atmosphere of your own house and just silently block the rest of the world…it’s a slice of heaven

I read last week that the Redwoods, the tallest trees on Earth, have a root system that doesn’t go deep into the ground, but instead interweave far and wide with roots from nearby trees. This is how they create a support system during storms. I find that so beautiful and comforting, especially having moved so often in my life. That our roots don’t have to be in a place, but rather in people. And no matter where we are, we carry the ones who are closest to us with us, moving forward together, growing tall.

Don’t go into a relationship with the aim of resculpturing someone into your dream partner. You’ll fail. You either accept the person for who they are or you don’t. You don’t have the power to change a person’s principles, especially if they disagree with you. If you don’t like things about them that clash with your core preferences and can’t live with their mindset, leave them in peace. No need to start a toxic war and make them feel miserable for being the way they are. They’re not right for you, you’re not right for them, as simple as that. Don’t force it.
