"Here we go! It's all about these runes. They form some kind of math-y, magic-y gateway. To the realm of heebie-jeebies. And this… Turns it on. So… here goes."
Sevika couldn't help but feel a twinge of sympathy for the girl in her current state- Jinx had always been willing to do whatever it took to accomplish the tasks she'd been faced with; even if ultimately, her actions worked against her. It was an admirable determination.
But was it enough to justify all of this?
Conscious of the pistol that remained a vast threat in the hands of it's unpredictable, wild owner, Sevika kept her movements smooth and calculated, so much as she could whilst still processing just how far Jinx's little meltdown had panned out. Her hands vibrated with a slight tremor- she didn't know whether it was fear, shock, or an insatiable preemptive rage.
The chair that faced the wall drew closer; the reality of consequences becoming more undeniable, as a limp hand turned into a limp arm, with a crisp crimson sleeve- attached to a torso of highbrow accouterments, a neatly ironed grey vest spattered with the same dry, oxidized crimson colouring that should only have painted the arms.
Tremors turned to shakes, eyes widened and brows creased- she couldn't even touch him, she couldn't bring herself to look at him a second longer-
The whole of Zaun's future had pinned on the man before her, and what legacy had he to leave behind for the ones who had to live in this world?
Jerking her head towards Jinx, she took a step forward.
He had left no heir to his grand schemes, no security for those who would take his place.
Another step.
He was the only person Sevika had finally found herself capable of sticking with, the only person she thought could change the world and now he was gone.
Step, step- the steps quickened their pace, turned into a charge-
He had been so secretive, so judgemental and capricious of every other human being beyond himself and-
Her.
As she loomed above the fragile picture before her, Sevika found herself frozen in place, breathing heavily, and unblinking. Though her hand scratched at the pistol holster on her waist, she could not draw the weapon. Frozen in time as she realised the pressures that had gripped this child like a vice.
For a minute, there was quiet- then she slumped down, adrenaline losing its interest in her body and fatigue taking charge.
What she had just done really had been for Silco, in it's own fucked up way, hadn't it?
He'd gone on and on and on about her making that ridiculous weapon of mass destruction, and she'd done it- he'd asked her to make it so they could finally take Piltover by storm, and she'd shown the pilties what the underdogs were capable of- sure, it had been right on the brink of a peaceful breakthrough, but isn't that what Sevika had once criticised Vander for? Backing down and ignoring decades of discriminatory violence all in the name of an easier route?
Even she had been tempted by the glittering gold of a little break from the tensions; Jinx had put her whole life into doing what Silco wanted, only for that to get turned around and blown out the window last moment. In trying to do something for the sake of his only family, he'd fucked with it even more.
"You shouldn't have done that. We're not ready for a war, and it was a real, stupid thing to-" hands running up her face propping up a head full of migraines, Sevika let out a long sigh, "...-but nobody should've made you feel like this was your responsibility to bare alone, Jinx. You did what Silco asked you to do, so I guess it's only so shit because plans changed not too long ago."
Finally, she found herself capable of rising up to her full height again, looking down at the girl before her, but not looking down on her- this time her eyes were relaxed, soft, and her hands now only gripped the table behind her as she supported herself.
Her face sang a song of guilt and pity, as she croaked out, "It's not all your fault, kid."
@shejinxed
She flinched with ever step Sevika took, grip on her pistol tightening as she prepared for a fight. It was the last thing she needed right now, her broken heart making her dizzy with sorrow. She steadied herself as best she could, standing upright and tall, now pink eyes alight with a rage she'd never experienced before. If she was going to die over this, she might as well go out swinging.
But Sevika stopped, and so did she. Swaying gently to one side, she tilted her head as the older woman calmed, lips parting as if to speak, though nothing came out.
She remained silent the whole while, lost in her dizzying thoughts and screaming hallucinations. But Sevika spoke finally, breaking the lengthy silence and breaking through the voices.
She listened, and listened, and thought. It wasn't her fault-? Those words sent a wave of unreasonable rage through her, making her grip on her pistol tighten as her whole body tensed. She wanted to scream, so she did.
"Shut up!" She shrieked, voice strained with distress. "You don't know anything!" It was her fault. It was. Nothing could have prepared her for such a sympathetic response, flooding her with emotions she couldn't process in the moment. She let out a horrible sob as she screamed, her heart in her throat. "You don't know that! You don't know what happened! I did this! I did this!" She waved the gun wildly in the direction of her father figure, sobbing all the while.
"I did this! I didn't mean to-- But I did! So I did what I had to! I did what he would have wanted me to! I did what he needed me to!" She sobbed and sobbed, falling to her knees as she sputtered the same words again and again. "It's my fault, it's my fault--!"
shejinxed:
She’d gotten herself into a bit of trouble again, it seemed.
Usually, she was fairly good at escaping the enforcers, but this time she’d been a bit too reckless. She ended up in their hold after a vicious fight, cuffed and being escorted by an unnecessary amount of guards. She was delirious with rage, screaming and fighting as hard as she could– She had to get home.
What luck to see a strangely out of place man in their path, causing the enforcers to take pause. With her chest heaving, she attempted to free herself yet again, only to be steadied by one of the many men holding her captive.
When he spoke, she came to the conclusion it was her best chance to escape. She took in a deep breath, shaking wildly as she continued to gently tug at her handcuffs. It was time to put on a show.
“N-no, help me!” It was the perfect opportunity to play the victim. Her voice went high, much like a child’s, as she leaned forward through the guards apprehending her. “Please! I don’t know what they want with me!” She begged desperately, fighting to wriggle her way out of the cuffs around her wrists.
Noctis patiently waited for the blue haired woman to answer his question, not looking overall that impressed when she finally did answer it. As someone who has dealt with nearly everyone in his life putting on a performance at some point, he wasn’t buying this for a second. He completely saw right through her performance.
Despite that, the man could also tell that the blue haired woman genuinely didn’t want to go with these guards, even if she didn’t tell him that in a genuine way. What she did didn’t matter, since Noctis still wanted to kill these guards for getting in his way. And he always did whatever he wanted to, no matter what that was.
The man facepalmed with visible annoyance. “Ugh, just stop. Just give it a rest. You may fool other people with that charade, but you don’t fool me. You’re no upstanding individual.” Noctis bluntly pointed out as he disappeared from his current location and quickly reappeared right in front of her. “But..” He paused.
Then a twisted smile appeared on his face as he broke the restraints on her with a single whack of his hand, summoned his Engine Blade Sword out of thin air and cut the guards nearest to her in half all in the space of a second. “Neither am I.” Noctis said, his twisted smile directed at the blue haired woman remained on his face.
He immediately charged at the remaining guards, cutting through them one by one effortlessly. Noctis then teleported right in front of one of the guards and punched them into the air. They seemed to still be alive, but the powerful impact of his strike caused them to suddenly literally explode, spraying blood everywhere.
"Oh--" She was shocked by his bluntness, shut right up by the way he saw right through her act. She stood in silence as she watched him carefully, unable to keep track of his lightning fast attack on the guards. In a brief moment of fear, she stepped back and gave him space.
"Holy shit--" She couldn't help but curse at the gory scene before her, rarely having seen anything other than bullet holes. She quickly steadied herself, having to take a moment to remind herself he was doing this for her; to free her.
As the rest of the scene unfolded, she took another almost timid step back, putting as much space between her and the gore as she could. It was just a part of this life, she thought, unable to do anything more than watch while handcuffed.
In the end, she was impressed, the scene settling down mere moments after it began. It was much more bloody than she would have done things, but she supposed it was effective.
"Thanks." She mumbled softly as she was freed, flexing her fingers gently. Perhaps that was worth more than one simple word, but she couldn't think of anything else to say on the matter, without getting sentimental over the violent stranger.
"Why'd you do that?" She asked, almost hesitantly, nervous about his answer. Was he a threat? It was hard to tell.
