This vid is a keeper. I'm a little mesmerized by the large American Airlines Arena crowd when the shot goes down. I keep watching the clip, looking at different parts of the arena crowd. It's not all that special, actually, but it kinda is because it's the haphazard Dallas Wings these people are cheering for. Everything about this is pretty cool. It's Azzi's nonchalant 3 off of a Paige assist but only after Paige showed the crowd her handles to split the D to get freed up to pass. Watching the crowd's buy-in and excitement when this was just a regular-season game ... pretty nice.

Paige and Azzi are teen heartthrobs. Sounds crazy because they're really nothing more than 2 basketball players, but seriously, they're like the famous boy bands in the late 90's or like One Direction w/Harry Styles. Girls always had their fave boy in the boy bands and would find out where the band members were staying and hang out there, hoping to see the band come and go from their hotel or restaurants and squeal and act stupid. That's what the obsession with Azzi and Paige seems like now. Crazy obsessions. I mean, there are grown ass people who still love certain artists (usually a music artist) who they've seen in concert a kazzilion times and follow those artist around the world if they have the money and time. Like groupies. That's who all these obsessed girls remind me of. The problem is Paige and Azzi are hoopers and probably had no idea just existing was going to lead to insanity.

I trully believe that part of the media dislikes Azzi because she never react to negative things.

They were putting Awa and Betts over her after draft, she never reacted.

They were shamming her for not responding for a question about her private life, she didn't reacted as well.

Now they are doing the most comparing her and OM since day 2 of the season and pushing the "OM was the ideal 1st pick" (that they never pushed before draft). Again, Azzi simply doesn't react, she just keep playing and smiling for the press.

At just 23 and full of expectations, Azzi never took the bait of classic media looking for clicks.

Sports media is a social construct. It's all made up. The games themselves (the rules and laws of the games) are what players and coaches have to abide by. But how this stupid ass culture responds to, reacts to, and what the social norms are regarding sports, the values placed on it, how players should act, what's normalized, is all made-up shit, it's all a social construct, and most importantly, that social construct is based on MENS sports only. There can be women's sports culture if we push hard enough but even women reporters buy into the idea "hey this is just how sports work..." "hey if you can't handle reporters' questions then you don't know how professional sports work." That's bullshit. So being an asshole, that's just sports, that's just how it works. Shaming and blaming and being nasty to the athletes in comments on social media posting on official accts (not tumblr but official team accts) well that's just sports. Bullying using homophobic and racist tropes, that's just sports. Writing articles and taking personal shots at players, that's just how sports work. No. Sports in this country, especially women's sports, do NOT need to follow those patterns. At all.

I agree that Azzi's on-court demeanor annoys some people because to some it comes across that maybe she's not competitive enough. Doesn't show passion. Doesn't celebrate. Doesn't shit talk. So because Azzi isn't dropping "bitch ass nigg* " on some opponent must mean she doesn't have fire and the will to win. 🙄 Every player, coach, and ex-player who are now pundits know exactly who she is and how tough she is. The rest of these folks are know-nothings and that includes all sports media outlets from newspapers to the bogus, made-up "media" accts online.

Am I understanding this correctly? Azzi Fudd's ig post says project_b 2027. Right now the league has tournament dates and secured venues for Valencia, Spain in mid-March 2027 and Tokyo in later March to early April 2027. There are no venues/arenas secured for 2026. So, a November to April league may have been the initial time frame but it seems it's more likely a late January or early February start? If so that sounds much better than a 5 month league. Clearly they can add another city but it looks unlikely for 2026? I hope it's not 2026.

Already record setting for that club. I know some folks hate that she plays for Dallas. But, she in fact, plays for Dallas and is making an impact on their club stats already. She has the rookie 3pts made in a game record, but this one is not a Dallas rookie record it's the actual club's overall record dating back to 1998. That's 28 yrs right? This is her club. This is the one she plays for. She's here. She's loyal. She will impact this club and this brand in ways that will bring titles.
