I haven’t said anything mostly because I don’t know what to say anymore. I continue to be shocked by how cruel, unjust and selfish we can be as humans. We are not born knowing how to hate. We are not born thinking the color of a person’s skin matters. Those are learned behaviors AND for those who are willing, they can be unlearned. I’ve never been good at keeping my mouth shut. Hell, I can’t control my face. At least I have good intentions with my words. My best friend in high school was half Asian. She’s no longer with us, but her mother is. I have other very good friends of Asian decent. To all of you, I’m sorry for not speaking sooner. You are amazing humans. My voice may not do a lot but know that I stand I will stand with you, beside you, and even in front of you, if necessary. Life is hard sometimes.
