Zucest is canon, Day 7

Another headcanon with merit is i believe that when Azula and Zuko were re-enacating "Love Amongst the Dragons" and Azula was the Dragon Emperor while Zuko played the Evil Water Spirit and the duel and after the Water Spirit has been vanquished, the Dragon Empress kissed the Dragon Emperor. Zuko was flustered and Azula had suspicious enthusiasm, but Azula was all for it as she's starved for affection and after all, it's all part of the script.

Zucest is canon, Day 6

The reason Azula developed blue fire was because she didn't have the emotional anchor, the light of her life, Zuko, during his three year exile from the Fire Nation.

Zucest is canon, Day 5

The fact Azula gave Zuko a choice to choose her without any coercion, no manipulation, no ulterior motive, nothing and she said she needed him in one of the softest, genuine tones that she could give, when by all rights by her father's orders she could've captured him as a prisoner, is proof that there's more beneath for him than what's seen with her, for more context into her mind and thinking during this period, read The Earth Kingdom Chronicles: The Tale of Azula, it goes more in depth than I did.

Zucest is canon, Day 4

When Azula went to talk to Zuko about his visits to Iroh and saw Mai and Zuko kissing, I believe in her mind at that moment, she wanted to be the one in Mai's position.

Zucest is canon, Day 3!

They can't stop thinking about the other, they imitate the other to fill the void of not having the other in their proximity! Living rent free in the other's head, this isn't normal sibling behavior, this is two people who obsessed with each other, this is toxic love.

Zucest is canon, Day 2!

In the Beach Episode, we see this soft side to Azula around her brother while he goes on his tangent in the campfire scene, here are some photos from that episode:

-The first one is her reaction when Zuko is ranting about how everything is supposed to be perfect, she gives a small smile, because maybe she knows and is thinking 'Not all its cracked up to be, huh Zuzu?' I think she subconsciously doesn't like her father but Azula brought him back home because she knows that's what he's always wanted and of course, she wants her little Zuzu by her side to lessen their hell together living under that man's rule.

-The second one is a face that no one ever sees on Azula, concern, because she sees that Zuko isn't happy being back and asks him if its dad and in her tone seems to be understanding, once he says no, she then asks if its her, there's worry in her voice because she wants Zuko to be happy back amongst his dad, but importantly with her.

As I will point out multiple times, the mask slips around him, they share the same hell and they understand each other the most and here Azula is trying to the best of her ability to make it a safe space for him, make him comfortable, something only a significant other would do.

Azula is one of the hardest characters to ship realistically in Avatar, due to her emotional state. But there are three that I believe will work and have solid foundations for, let's go through them, shall we? Ordered from 3 to 1.

3. Azutara (Azula x Katara)

Now, this will take work, but they have similarities, they both have mother-related trauma, both are prodigies from their respective nations. Katara and Azula also have opposing personalities that would mesh well once they both get past their growth. Fire and Ice? Yes, please!

2. Maizula (Mai x Azula)

They have been few people that have been unphased or not intimidated by Azula and Mai is one of them. They have years of history and shared upbringing by Fire Nation ideology. Mai's dry sarcasm and emotional numbness helps with Azula's intensity and balances her out, same with Azula to Mai. Once reconciliation happens (Avatar: Cookbook, Azula Lighting, check it out) its very believable that Mai can work through Azula's shortcomings and also Boiling Rock adds layers when Mai said "I love Zuko more than I fear you" Speaking of Zuko...

1. Zucest (Zuko x Azula)

Isn't it obvious?, my OTP for Azula is Zuko. Azula literally went out of her way to bring her bro back to the Fire Nation in Crossroads of Destiny and when she said "I need you, Zuko" in an uncharacteristically soft tone and not to mention, while the post-ATLA comics is a lot to be desired, they get their dynamics right and Zuko via his change, changed Azula for the better and her appearance in "Smoke and Shadow" proves it. Azula literally let's the mask slip around him (Ba Sing Se, multiple instances in early Season 3) If you want more depth into their relationship and subtle incest check out @hello-nichya-here and @icewhisker21 posts for more context
