So, Jealous John.
When you think about John Watson being jealous, you think of Irene. Moriarty. Janine. There’s meta (And I think so too) that says John is even jealous of Mary. But where can you see the birth of Jeaolus John?
I believe that everything we need to know about the series (up to a point) has a foil in “A study in Pink”. We have all kinds of amazing lines like “Why can’t people just think?”, or “I said dangerous and here you are”, that pretty much guide us through the other episodes. So, a major pillar of the narrative like John Watson being jealous, has to be shown in the first episode.
And of course, it is!
Sorry for the shitty gif, but it works to show what I’m trying to say.
Sherlock is trying to make a point: He’s not using; so he shows Greg his patches. Greg says I’m not smoking either! Look! We’re patch buddies!
Look at John’s reaction. He doesn’t like what he’s seeing, Sherlock removing part of his clothing to share a moment with another man. “Hey, don’t touch my…” His eyes then go to the floor “My what, you’ve just met the man”.
John has not spent a single night in Baker Street, but he just can’t help to be uncomfortable when he feels alienated of Sherlock’s life. This moment is quick, is nothing; Sherlock didn’t even asked Lestrade to show him his patch. But they’re in a “show me yours and I’ll show you mine” kind of moment, and John is not happy about it.
So, behold the Birth of Jealous John!
Note: I really think that the very first man to make John feel jealous is not even Lestrade. Is Mycroft. A mistery man, an archenemy easily remembered by Sherlock, even says he’s concerned about him… But John’s physical reactions are not compelling enough, or are mixed with fear by the abduction, perhaps?. The way asks Sherlock about the man, the timing, the specific questions, the tone of his voice… Just rewatch the thing and let me know what you think.
Sherlock, plucking flower petals: John loves me!!! *twirls* John loves me not. *shoots wall* JOHN LOVES ME!! *falls backwards onto sofa*
John: *clueless* If I didn’t know any better I’d say he was … heartbrokenly pining for someone named John?? Who the fuck else does he know named John?!!!! I’ll sprain him.

Lessons in romance
And here’s a new chapter! I struggled a lot with it and I’m not entirely sure why, but well… here we are! Enjoy!

When Sherlock was 5, his greatest wish was to go to school.
He saw the other children running around the playground, laughing and yelling and being merry and he had wanted so desperately to be part of that. He hadn’t had any friends while living in Sussex (except Redbeard and look how that turned out) and he had thought going to school might give him the chance to finally change that.
Of course Mummy had said no.
During that first year in London, Mycroft would take him to parks that were close enough to schools, under the reasoning that parents were likely to bring their children there after school. They did and Sherlock tried desperately to fit in, but the other kids found him odd and he just didn’t know how to behave around them.
Eventually, he had given up on the whole making-friends business.
He was still curious about school, though. Maybe because Mummy was so strictly against, he found himself wondering about it. He wanted to go to school like regular children (even if he was aware he wasn’t like regular children); he wanted to experience it, even if it was only once, even if he found it dreadful.
On this single thing, he wanted to try being like everybody else.
Maybe that way he’d finally fit in.

"Tell us a few things about your character."
Benedict Cumberbatch: Sherlock has regressed, but what's the most important thing here is his relationship with John Watson, played by Martin Freeman who is an absolute delight on set and I adore him, I mean, you know, in a completely platonic way, um, what was I saying?
Martin Freeman: We 're not fucking. John is the protagonist.
Amanda Abbington: Dude, I love that everyone thinks I am a villain, I am very villain, I am the biggest villain in the villainous history of villainy, see the black jumper I'm wearing?
Louise Brealey: Well I loved this scene when Ben had to kiss me, it was all so lovely, he was amazing, this hair ruffle, yes, so beautiful... I think... that's what you asked me, right?
Mark Gatiss: Well, obviously, Mycroft is the coolest character ever written in the history of humankind, therefore I was the only one who could play him.
Rupert Graves: Lestrade's a nice chap.
Andrew Scott: Well, I know people consider Moriarty somewhat evil, but I don't see him like that. I don't think he's a dark character, he's actually a very soft, sad, sensitive, calm, good, bright, smol and slightly flirtatious human being *go cries in a corner*
Look i feel like Martin has a very high sex drive.... like he makes everything about sex and he looks like he is gonna fuck everyone in the room... i dont know he looks so horny all the time too........ you feel me ????
at the same time, I feel like he’s extremely judgmental. like he won’t fuck someone if their socks don’t match the rest of their outfit. or if they don’t like the beach boys. or something.
