People are allowed to read them that way, but on the flip side- royalteeth shippers are allowed to not read them that way, and both are fine. Also I don't give a shit if a voice actor doesn't like it, btw.
They want me to believe that Kinger is the group dad, who is a dad to the group (Ragatha and Pomni specifically) and then ignores his "actual son" for like the entirety of the show? Surrrrrrrrrrre

(Obv I dont agree with this logic, same thing as any storyteller that creates characters (OCs..) ever putting their creations in romantic or sexual situations and ppl saying EW THAT'S YOUR KID. Also its clear Caine has evolved beyond his original programming and become his own autonomous person.)

On another note, for goodness sake let Kinger love again. Let him be something more than The Widower Dad. He deserves relationships that arent him in the father role, and he deserves to love again. I want Kinger to receive comfort for once. I want him to struggle with the mistakes and regrets he's mentioned having, not to mention the awful things his actions have caused (e.g. deleting Caine contributing to Jax's abstraction).
Let kinger be his own multidimensional person.
I totally support anyone who enjoys kinger and caine as father and son. Theres no reason to shame any interpretation of their dynamic
Also on another note, moon x caine is not canon lol. (Sorry if you like it, by all means it can be canon to you.) To me the purpose of that scene was to show that any AI can learn things outside their programming, can learn to love. The moon is not an intelligent AI, or else caine wouldn't have left her and sun running indefinitely.
Also it gave Caine a boost into thinking maybe he can deserve to be loved (/platonic) even with all the terrible things hes done.
The only reason he looked up at her all awed (after initially turning away dismissively once she said she loved him) was bc he realized she could do more than her programming. Meaning he could also be more than his programming, more than his programmed "purpose".
I was gonna make a point specifically about the authors creating characters kinda aspect sometime!
As both an rp-er and a writer I have created many characters. Not one of them feels like "my child". Bc they're not my children in the literal sense.
I may call them my bebés (I call some of my friends my bebés) bc that's a term of endearment and I would protect them. No clue what from other than arsehole people being arseholey about them, but I'd protect them. Some of my own characters I find freaking hot. If I was in their world, I'd totally ask them to bang. Other characters I'm not attracted to. Other characters would not be attracted to me. They're their own people, I'm just their biographer, in a way. And it's exactly like og said: by the same logic, romance content should not at all exist in canon bc shipping your children WITH EACH OTHER is incestuous and creepy. All characters are your children after all, as their creator, right?
In case of rp-ing: what am I doing with my "child" when I act out their behaviour and decisions? Am I just mocking them? What???
I also code. I'm studying computer science, so I have to learn programming. Not once have I finish writing a program, looked at that code and had parental feelings about it...? Especially since Kinger says in ep08, that he only made like a crude first version that the rest of the team had to then develop further, and they obviously abandoned the Caine-code for a new attempt to start with a more cohesive base.
If I had a nickel for every time my ship between a fictional human male and an equally fictional artificial intelligence with a masculine-coded body was labeled "weird" and "creepy" because those fictional characters - who ARE NOT related - are "father and son", I would have two nickels.
Which isn't a lot, but it's remarkable that it happened twice.
