Xu Zhen - Hello
i think it is important to note that she moves to face you. here is a video
[Image description: a massive sculpture in an otherwise empty art gallery. It is a creature whose body is an extra long Ancient Greek marble column, but with the coiled pose and personality of a curious serpent. The body has thick fluted ridges running down its length just like a pillar, and it even has the same signs of age and weathering. The ornate Corinthian-style capital serves as a head. In a real temple we never see the flat top of the capital, because it’s busy holding up the roof, but here it turns towards the viewer, shaped like a blunt star. In the center of this flat face is an all-black circle, a bit larger than a human head. In its simplicity it suggests both an eye and a mouth. This face makes the creature seem very alien.
In the video, a visitor dressed all in black has entered the plain white art gallery. The gigantic marble column serpent rests most of its body in relaxed, twining coils, but it moves its head and neck slowly to face the visitor. It looms over the visitor but its body language is inquisitive rather than threatening. As the visitor walks back and forth, the creature slowly turns its head to follow, always looking at the visitor with its flat, alien face. End ID. /]

My boyfriends dad and brother were talking about the Ridley Scott napoleon movie and it took EVERYTHING in me to not blurt out “for me the quintessential napoleon performance is Rod Steiger in Waterloo, directed by Sergei Bondarchuk of war and peace fame”

why is it called shoegaze? is it because you have to keep looking at your ridiculously massive pedalboard to tippy tap on all your silly little guitar pedal switches?
anon that's actually literally the correct answer
im so mad bc “atlas shrugged” is such a raw fucking title. thats an EXCELLENT name for a book. a man holding the weight of the entire world on his shoulders is so moved by his disdain for the current state of things that he exerts the force to shrug. indifference to the nth degree. that’s fucking metal. then you read it and it’s just about hating poor people.
