I’m not going anywhere.

My words echoed inside my mind. They mocked me.

The only warmth I received in this bed was, not from the large blanket, but from the body that held me until I fell asleep and protected my body from the cold. But the body wasn’t there anymore. I slept beside an empty space. I was embraced by cold air, accompanied by mystery and misery.

I turned my back to the empty space that haunted me. My chest got heavier the longer I searched for what wasn’t there. I reached over and felt for my phone that was on my nightstand. I tapped the screen. Nothing.
