I wish the fact that Mustang is Hawkeye's boss was used more often in spicy and slightly immoral ways. heh

How tempting it must be for Mustang to have such access and control over her career and well, everything. She make some mistakes? Covered up. Sensitive private information about her? Conveniently burnt. Someone higher up wants to transfer her to a different post? Prevented. She requests days off? Always granted. A pay raise? Sure! There are many reasons why someone of a higher rank should not fuck their subordinate :]

If I was good at writing, I would write about Mustang removing her from a mission they have been planning for weeks at the last moment for personal/emotional reason. Maybe he knows something the others do not about the enemy. Maybe it is (flame) alchemy related. Or that she is simply at a significant tactical disadvantage as a sniper for this mission for some reason. Anyway, I want Hawkeye to find out her name is no longer on the roster during the final briefing in front of everyone, hours before they move out. And to go to his office to yell at him while having a bit of a mental about how Mustang does not trust her to do her job anymore:"). She is not gonna take 'Orders are orders and you better follow them, soldier' for an answer to why he removed her without discussing it. But I think she would be even more upset to learn it is because he let his personal feelings for her override his professional decisions. I think she is better at separating them than Mustang is🤔 You know, Hawkeye is supposed to be the bodyguard no matter what and die protecting him, but Mustang does not want her to die obviously. And he technically does have the authority to tell her to stand down.

Idunno, maybe it just want to see them fight and yell and have Conflict(tm)…

In canon he generally lets her do whatever. And if she does not like his orders she simply does not follow them. He can court-martial her later for insubordination if he wants, but in the end, she always gets away with it. Favourtisim man…

I love to see more of this too! and I think that def he'd be more lenient and find every loophole to make anything easier for her without her knowing until she does (I think that would be a point of conflict given she would not agree at all with that)
