Cassandra tried to refrain herself from rolling her eyes at the male. It was almost like he was reading from a script which put her back up straight away. She wasnât just another person he had to interview for work and him treating her like one just made her remember one of the reasons why theyâd broken up â work always came first for him. âI canât really tell you much. A bunch of guys came in with guns, they all had masks on so I canât tell you what they looked like, I tried using my powers and it backfired. One of them shot me. End of story. I canât remember anything else.â If he wasnât here on business she might have felt guilty for lying to him about not remembering anything else. Cassandra shrugged. âI donât know. I just wanted to help. I wasnât really thinking straight.â The raven-haired female felt herself growing self-conscious she knew his views on her powers and she was pretty sure this would just make things worse. She gave him a thankful smile as he left the room. A small sigh fell from her lips. Her head was throbbing, her stomach hurt that much that she felt sick and to top it all off she just felt like crying about the whole situation. She looked up as she heard Travis walk back into the room. âThanks, babe.âÂ
Travis could almost see her composure shift when he started talking and that was probably all the warning sign he should have needed to stop. But, easier said than done. His brows drew together as she explained -- it was certainly probable that she didnât remember much afterwards, but even still it was a very vague recollection. âIf you need some more time to piece things together some more, then I can give you that. But youâre going to have to give me more to go off, Cassie.â That wasnât strictly true. She didnât have to tell him anything. Travis couldnât say he really understood how she thought that would help in such a situation, but she was already in a rather vulnerable position and he wasnât going to ask such a stupid question. âYou could have got yourself killed.â He pressed his lips together and a look of real sorrow passed through his features at the thought. âI donât know --â he sighed, shaking his head. âYou need to be more careful.â And it wasnât said in a forceful way, or as if he was lecturing her, but in more of a sad, almost pleading way. After coming back to the room, Travis stopped for a moment at the pet name that rolled off her lips with ease, but moved passed it only a few moments later and made his way to the side of her bed. âAnything you need, I'm here.â He was well aware of their current situation, but that didn't mean he didn't still care for her -- even if he wasn't always the best at showing it.
