Gonna put this here in bigass bold letters.
If you want my discord, now is the time.
None of that ‘shy, intimidated, anxious’ stuff. This is it, y’all, this is that scene in Titanic with the band–
–and if you want to keep in touch with me, reach out and ask. Message, Ask, whatever. But do it now, cause once I got my blogs exported, this guy is tail lights.
Never doesn’t bother me.
gunontherun:
“Like dark corridors are a normal means of travel.” His lone eye rolls slightly, before he considers his own hand, blunt gloved fingers flexing idly. “You think I’d be able to do that sidestepping thin—hey!” The flicked ear twitches, and he gives one of Shig’s longer ears a light pinch in response. “Until we’ve ruled it out, I’ll stick to calling out your name. Sounds like it has the best chance of success.”
He rolled his own eye with a huff of breath. “You know what I meant.” He jerked his head away from the pinch, his own ear twitching like an irritated cat’s. But he didn’t protest it-- he’d deserved it after all. He gave a laugh. “Well, none of the others knew how to use those portals at first, no more than you knew how to use Corridors until you were taught. You’d need to trade your coat for one of ours if you decided to use them, though.”
gunontherun:
“Well, I’d love to, but you have to know, that I’ve been having difficulties traveling to Silent Hill, and I have no actual means of visiting the Dark Tower.” He tips his head, and gives a hum. “If you know a way to rectify that, it might be easier to do that. Unless, the ol’ say shigu’s name a few dozen times method might ping ya, and bring you to my neck of the woods?” He watches the way the other flexes that hand, ignoring the way the skin over his heart seemed to crawl.
The body remembers too much sometimes, he thinks.
“Yeeeeah, that might explain why you haven’t been by.” A grimace, and he rubbed his jaw. “Towerfall is meant to be impossible to reach by normal means. As for Silent Hill... Corridors aren’t the best to use for it. Think maybe I oughta teach ya to use the kind of portals the Thirteen uses. The sidestepping. Because Silent Hill’s the shortcut, and all.” His free arm dropped. “Or, yeah, you could just try to call out for me. Chances are I’ll sense it or something.” A flick of one ear, and he grinned again.
gunontherun:
“Eh. Depression is always a possibility, if I’m being quite honest. Its been a tag-along since the old life. However life has only gotten better in the last few years, so I think its safe to discount it for the time being. Stress is a constant, but again, its manageable. I’d hedge my bets that my body and mind are simply taking the time to catch up on sleep now that my dreams aren’t disturbing.”
The couch dips, and he lets himself lean against the dimension ripper, arms crossing loosely over his chest in a comfortable manner. “….Yeah. I’d say I’m good overall. Thanks.” Whether he was thanking Shigu for his concern, or yet again, for freeing him from the waking nightmare he was once living, is unclear.
He draped an arm over the other’s shoulders in a friendly, casual manner. “Yeah, I’d hope things only keep getting better for you, man. You deserve it. You can’t really catch up on sleep debt, it’s just not really possible. But getting real rest is never a bad thing.” He flexed the fingers of his free hand a little, studying the faint outline of his claws through his gloves. “You can stop thanking me, y’know. You’ve already shown how grateful you are just by living.” He flashed the other a grin, sharp, demon teeth, and flashing yellow eye. “You should visit me more often though. I miss seeing you.”
gunontherun:
“Well, that’s good thinking, Shigs. But If we were worried about there being lingering effects, I think the two of us would have found an earlier date to do a follow up on the shard removal surgery.” Doctoral gab really isn’t his strong suit, and he waves it off halfway through the lazy attempt. “As far as I know, I’m not experiencing anything strange since? I sleep a lot more, but that’s probably because I can do so without any ominous messages in my dreams.”
“Well. You got a lot on your shoulders and on your mind. Oversleeping, or erratic, aberrant sleep patterns in general can mean a lot of things. Could be time catching up with you. Could be stress. Depression.” Shigu was of a scientific dint, he just didn’t tend to show it much. “Or it could be like you said: you finally feel safe enough to get some real shut eye. And if you are lonely or depressed, you know Axel’s always waiting for you with open arms. For that matter, so’m I.” He flopped onto the couch with his twin. “But overall, you’re good?”
gunontherun:
“I’m a hundred and thirty seven, Shigs. I may not be aging, may still be as young and good looking as I was at forty outwardly, but my mind is gettin’ old.” A snort, before he blinks, looking a little lost at the ‘echoes’ bit. “Beg pardon?”
“I don’t know how old I am anymore, but it’s definitely a few times older than you, my handsome friend.” And probably more unhinged. Definitely more unhinged. “You know. Making sure there’s no lingering effects after the extraction. I meant to check up on you more frequently, but. I’d hope if something happened, you’d come to me first.”
Some folksy wisdom for ya.
Assuming makes an ASS out of yoU and ME.
Just sayin’.
gunontherun:
“Right, silly me. I forget how watchful you’re capable of being sometimes in my old age. And yes—I do know how that feels…aside from the being in too many places at once.”
“Pfft, you? Old? As if. I’m the old one. Jokes aside, though... how you been? Things okay? No... you know. Bullshit. Echoes. Whatever.”
gunontherun:
@shigubarru
“No worries, man. Nothing serious happened; I was just doing some home repairs. But I can say the same to you, Shigs. Its good to see you out and about. I’d been worried for a while that you’d shut yourself up in that tower, or that you were out on a bunch of back-breaking missions for that organization of yours.”
“Just cause you don’t see me doesn’t mean I ain’t around. But yeah, I've been kind of busy lately. Stretched a bit thin. In too many places at once. You know how it goes.”
"Burning ears, eh?"
If it isn’t my favorite double. I ain’t gonna ask where you’ve been, that’s your business. I will say welcome back though.
My ears are burning. Somebody’s yapping about me.
invertxgo:
He had a point. Xigbar didn’t want to admit it, but Shigs had damn near hit the nail on the head. He’d really overstepped his bounds in that misstep with Saix. “I didn’t mean to let it get that far. It was just supposed to be a little showing off… I dunno what happened. One minute I was havin fun and the next it was like someone else was at the wheel and I didn’t even realize.”
“Oh yeah?” His tone was drawling, almost bored, but the look in that single remaining eye was anything but. The ripper might have been angry, but disappointed was more likely. “How much of you is even left in there anymore, do y’think? What exactly did he do to warrant your wrath? Or was it like someone else picked him for your little game, too?”
@invertxgo
invertxgo:
It hurts, hearing that from another Xigbar, even if Shigs wasn’t exactly your typical Xigbar. “I don’t want to be like him.”
The ripper demon only looked back at him, his scarred face as emotionless as any Nobody’s was supposed to be. “Yeah? What you did just now sure coulda fooled me, my dude. From where I was standin’ seemed like you were really getting off on tormenting someone that’s already suffered plenty. If that ain’t him, I dunno what is.”
