“What distasteful new manifestations have popped up in this city? Gee-Eye-Eff?”
“Mine words most fair art fine as they stand.”
[Henry didn’t expect Futo’s reaction as she seemed pretty moved and was not only agreeing again but she was even curious about the ingredients he had brought with him.]
Well, I have all sort of things! I have some pretty dark stuff too in there but I’m guessing I won’t be needing some of it so you don’t have to bother about those!
[Being a dark mage, the ingredients in there were most likely related to dead creatures and even some things that could be considered demonic as well. Gathering all that hadn’t been an easy task but he had somehow managed so he could cast pretty much any hex needed.]
As for the rest…
[Henry opened the bag and started taking out and placing stuff outside of it that looked more common stuff. Or at least, less grim. Among few things, there were an assorted variety of fabrics, a wolf’s pelt, some colored flasks, a sewing kit, some feathers and even different kinds of herbs.]
I think these should be fine but if we need to put an enchantment or something else on it, I have my other ingredients on the bag too! Tee hee~
[Needless to say, the bag still had that ominous aura to it.]
It was obvious that Futo still held great anxiety for the bag and its ominous contents, but this was her student! She had to support him even through the absolutely terrifying aspects of him. For if she could get a mage like this on the side of Taoism, then surely the Crown Prince would be impressed...
“I-I- I thi, Ahh... Methinks t’will be fine without an enchantment! Ahehehe...”
Gods!
With courage gathered the Shikaisen approaches and picks up the pelt and sewing utensils. “A-Alright,” she exhales. “See here, Henry-dono, sewing is the delicate practice of the most pure-hearted of maidens! Like mineself. So do not dread that thou may be naturally handicapped, fu fu...” She offers the needle to him. “To start, I ask of ye to thread this.”
Sword&Shield
A garden overgrown with chaos and rage surrounds her, feet hovering just above the ground as she zips through the mayhem. This place was a mess, a despicable mess, and Futo knew with Toyosatomimi no Miko's absence she was the only one destined to fix this!
Or rather, she'd proclaim her thoughts to be so noble while simply being driven by adrenaline and excitement. She had her powers back, her Feng Shui, her plates, her boats, her everything -- she was going wild.
Limbs flailing about in battle with whomever she could challenge, Futo spent her time unleashing every ounce of hell she could. Even if, unfortunately, the results could lead to her bruised and beaten and possibly near the death she so wished to escape.
Indeed, I am dying... As she lays supine with head canted aside, she thinks this, for whatever other explanation could be given for the faint vision of shining gold and purple in the distance?
Beautiful. It's beautiful, how blessed she is that in her final moments the light of the Crown Prince fills her. She'd stare at it forever, if she could...
... ... ...
Forever -- That's right. This was no grace of death, was it? The immortal Mononobe can't be overtaken by mere wounds, how silly. Shame boils her skin at the thought she was willing to lay there and die simply staring at that whom she gave her life to serve -- how stupid!
Like gravel shifting the Shikaisen rises eventually, repeating her oaths to the Crown Prince who's image now wavered away. No, she couldn't let her go, not without herself by her side. She couldn't fail her, not when she's finally arrived -- !
"Cuh -- "
She's walking away? It's not enough. A deep breath, Futo's palms smack together as power flows through, rejuvinated by her dedication to the True Administrator.
"Crown.....!" A boat that sails with no water, its captain now hollering with a smile and relief in her eyes.
"PRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINCE!"
Notice me, senpai.

Futo tames a leviathan. By makuwauri.
[Henry stopped for a second before looking down as if he was thinking and finally looked back up to Futo.]
Well, I wanted a hat because you are so proud of having one and I thought I’d look more like your disciple if I had one myself!
[Since he still didn’t know the symbolism behind the hat, he thought it was more of an identification of sorts that you belonged to Taoism just like the eyes on his robes were part of a ceremonial attire for the Grimleal.]
Is that bad?…
[Henry’s tone changed slightly to an apologetic one as if he didn’t know if he did something bad or not when he was just trying to do something to get closer to Futo.]
When he asks, Futo can’t help but see a child just trying to earnestly impress an elder with all it had. To think, he would go through all this just to have a hat to look more like her proper pupil!... Futo has to take a second not to burst into tears of pride. Sniiiiiiiff!
“No... No, no! ‘Tis perfectly good, Henry-dono!” Thought tentative, the shikaisen takes a few steps toward the mage and his magic sack of death and doom.
“...S-So? What, um... What have ye in... there?” She looks ready to flee at any moment.
A Decisive Battle! Destroy the Scrolls! [closed]
[Reimu’s first view of the apartment was alarming, to say the least. Ignoring the many items that the shrine maiden had never seen or heard of before littered around the area, the door adorned with countless amulets and seals, the writing on them done so haphazardly that Reimu couldn’t read them. That definitely meant something was up.]
[And then the door opened. Reimu opened her mouth, a speech about how causing trouble was bad and that it was her duty as shrine maiden to make sure that the citizens of Gensokyo were behaving, even when they weren’t in said place. already thought out. But before a words was uttered, the door was slammed shut.]
[The Taoist reacted much faster than Reimu expected, as she couldn’t even get a disgruntled sigh out before the door swung open again, Futo acting as haughty as ever.]
[Screw that speech. Who needs long-winded speeches when you’re the Hakurei shrine maiden?] “Fine, Futo. I don’t know what you’re up to, but I’ll make sure to beat that info out of you!” [She lifted the gohei over her head and swung down, aiming straight for the Taoist’s head.]
truemansamejima
Hey, those Hostess Twinkles were for him to take for Nick the next day! Samejima had even left a note in front of them so that Kirby wouldn’t eat them, but he should have considered the possibility of Futo eating them too.
“Now, girls, let’s not have a fight inside this apartment, okay? I just finished cleaning it today morning! If you think this problem should be solved via fighting, I know of a good spot where you can attack each other violently without breaking stuff.”
As they kept staring at each other with sparks coming out of their eyes, Samejima took a huge map of Hive City out of his jacket and displayed on the table. “Here, there’s a clearing at Sector 2′s skirts. We could go there so you can have your fight no problems. Oh, I should get some popcorn and other snacks for it!”
BANG!
Her head splits with pain when Reimu hits her, jerking tears from the childish woman’s eyes as she crouches.
That one really hurt...! Oh, but she’s not down for the count just yet! Looking up, Futo readies her feet and hands into a battle-ready stance, preparing to strike when Samejima begins to talk.
At first, Futo says nothing, staring incredulously at her red-haired roomate in silence.
Her limbs grow lax, hands by her sides and she suddenly calmly walks over. Pouring over the map herself, Futo taps her chin. The greatest battle of the century has been paused.
“Tch... No. Sector oo2 is filthy, the air there thickly saturated with pollution.”
“A woman of mine age and beauty must take care of her lungs and skin...” She cocks her head to the side, staring at the map. “Mm. Reimu-dono, come come, what dost thou thinketh...?” Asking like she hadn’t been threatening this same person just minutes before.
The mystery of feelings - Closed@Futo
[Just as instructed, Henry continued stretching for a while, thinking of how neat it would be to be able to fly and live for hundreds of years after all. He even thought he might even be able to be one of the few friends that Nowi could keep for a long time if he accomplished that as well. As he was doing his stretches while thinking about this, his imagination was stopped by Futo suddenly seeming to not feel well enough and had to leave for a moment.]
Ah, sure! If you need anything just yell at me and I’ll be there in a sec okay?
[She seemed okay until just that moment so he had no idea what could’ve happened that made her start feeling bad but he decided to do as instructed and continue with the practice for a while.]
Futo retreats from their station quickly, coming to a clearing where she could covet herself among a few trees to think. A hand to her stomach, where movement turned and tossed in a most unusual way.
“What is this...? Mine perfect body, wracked with a new illness...? Impossible...”
She spends several more moments in this position, silently pondering over this newfound conundrum. Eventually, Futo thinks she’s got it: This new-age city and the shock value of winding up here has forced her to neglect her training somewhat. She’s gone soft! Nodding to herself, the hermit immediately turns and jumps into a few nearby bushes. Certainly, the best way to test this theory would be springing a surprise attack on her pupil...! Not only would that reveal her current skill level, but remind her student to always be on his toes! It was perfect!
Scuttling back in hiding towards where Henry was, she lies waiting in the bushes. Surely, this would be the greatest...!
@shikaisens: Uh, doesn't it get boring praying like that all day long? Not? Well, I might try it, then!
From Samejima’s POV, Futo’s reaction means his ingenious plan to sleep earlier is working jsut as planned. He looks at the fourth wall with a comically sinister smile before returning his focus to Futo.
“Sure, why not? Is Taoism the name of this ritual you’re practicizing here?” Samejima had to watch his step as he entered Futo’s bedroom. There were tons of scrolls and amulets and other taoist objects as far as he could see. Not that he’d identify any of those. After all, the only religions at the Demon World were the Apple of Life cult and Rchimedism, none of which he followed.
Unfortunately Futo did not share a POV even close to Samejina’s. A new follower meant a long, sleepless night exploring the wonders of Taoism and ritualistic rites. It was a long, arduous job -- but for Taoism, for the Crown Prince, Futo would gladly do it 1,000 times!
“Correct, Samejima-dono. Every inch of this room you feel here is buzzing in a wonderful spiritual energy..”
“Well, let us get started!” She buries under her bed and returns a moment later with a few large books in her hands. She hands these happily to Samejima. “You will need these for when mine wisdom cannot be shared with ye; the Tao Te Ching you shall memorize from front to back! ‘Tis a most important text, thou shalt be quizzed later...” She pauses. “Thou art able to read, correct?”
I Can’t Decide
Yamashina raised his eyebrows waiting for the other to speak again. Quite far from holding his breath - his arms were crossed and his fingers tapped against them.
“ … “
And well, what could he say? Guess this was what they could call the collision of two worlds. She was dressed a bit strangely, come to think of it… A bit of a shame but he was no help for her. Somehow he had a feeling these people might be just fine without her but well, who knows… Sucks for her though.
“ No, I hate to tell you but I’m pretty much one of the most average people around here. No crystal ball, no nothing. “
“ I do have a cellphone if you think they’re in the City but that’s the best can do… Even then we might not reach them though. “
...Alright.
Alright, so there was nothing of magical prowess about this man was there? Futo furrows her brows and crosses her arms, glancing away as she thought.
“Most disappointing, indeed...” She thinks a few seconds more before turning her gaze back onto him. “No. What you call a ‘cellphone’ will be of no use at all. The technology of this day will do nothing but eat thy brain and destroy thy body from the inside out like a swarm of black locusts.” She scowls, offended he would even bring up such a suggestion.
“Nothing can compare to the fine-tuned instincts honed in ages past. Come, we shall search for them by foot, utilizing the senses given to us in earnest!” With that, the shikaisen turns on her heel and heads to the door, beckoning Yamashina with a flick of her wrist as if fully expecting him to go along.
This is Legend of the Great Gods, the theme of Mononobe no Futo from Touhou: Ten Desires.
Such an energetically dark theme. It’s always fun to listen to, especially in a remix form.
Enjoy~
[Henry put down his backpack and then tilted his head to the shikaisen’s question.]
I brought all my tools and some “ingredients” I was thinking of using for a hat for myself!
[It was probably not that hard to imagine what sorts of contraptions he had brought along with him and also the kind of ingredients he would use. A dark mage dealing with the occult and the forbidden was bound to have dead stuff and probably other things that could kill you if you were careless.]
Well, just let me handle the backpack myself ok? I’d hate it if you accidentally got cursed or worse! Nya ha ha!
How in the world anything in that sinful-seeming backpack could construct a hat, Futo did not know. While she had been eager to see what her new pupil would come up with, she wasn’t so sure now.
She knew he was a dark mage -- he had been happy to admit it at any opportunity -- but to be facing something actually akin to his title was on a different level than just hearing about it.
She was very obviously nervous, taking a few cautionary steps back.
“Mayhaps I spoke too soon...”
“Dost thou really wish for a hat? Err, thou looks just fine without one, methinks.”

[When first arriving to the Hive, Reimu hadn’t expected to be dealing with incidents. The only incident on her mind at the time was the one causing her to be stuck in this prison in the first place. All she had to do was beat some scientists up until they let her out, easy enough.]
[And yet here she was, at the door of some strange youkai’s home, ready to deal with one of the troublesome Taoists that caused so many problems back in Gensokyo.]
[The shrine maiden sighed, irritation clearly written on her face. Dealing with petty incidents like this was part of the job, but since when was it her job to be doing this here? The Hakurei protected the barrier, but was there even a barrier to protect here? At this point, she was only doing this out of some strange guilt, all stemming from Futo being a citizen of her country. She was still Reimu’s responsibility, or so she believed.]
“Can you just open the door already?!” [Reimu asked Samejima, tapping her gohei onto her palm.] “I just want to get this over with…”
truemansamejima
The trip to Sector 2′s apartment building had been a calm one, eventual naushea due to the terrible smell aside. Samejima should buy one of those gas masks, one of these days. He’d note it down as soon as this subject is over.
He paryed Reimu would be able to fight against the Scrolls of Endless Boredom. He couldn’t phatom how Futo got her hands at such a terrifying weapon, but it was too dangerous for mortal (?) hands! As such, Samejima wasted no time in opening the door.
“Here we are, Reimu, at Chez Samejima.” He looked around to see if anyone else was inside. “Kirbyyyy, Kirakishouuuu, are you home?” No response. They must have gone off to take care of whatever space warriors or doll ghosts do this time of the day. With noone else at home, Samejima signaled for Reimu to enter.
The door to Futo’s bedroom was covered in amulets and papers as always. There were even some covering the door’s opening, proof that she must have been here for days. (How did she put amulets outside the door while being inside the bedroom, though?)
Samejima knocked the door, hoping she’d reply with a good mood (as if). “Heeey, Futo, you got a visit.” shikaisens
Peace and quiet could only last so long until a knocking tilts her from focus, bringing the grumbling shikaisen across her room and to the door.
Of course it was that obnoxiously-manly roommate of hers, coming to tell her something ridiculous like ‘quiet down’ or ‘we’re trying to sleep’, or ‘stop hoarding all the Hostess Twinkies! Everyone else wants some too!’ Psh-shaw.
But today he comes with a peculiar greeting. A visit. With curiosity mixing in her scrunched brows she opens the door just enough for her to peek out. And of course, her vision is immediately blown apart by a six-pack so strong one could grate cheese off it. She sighs.
“Samejima-dono...” Futo mutters, opening the door wider in preparation to lecture about something or another, but the shockingly familiar sight of red and white stills her ever-flapping tongue.
Reimu Hakurei, standing as dangerously lackadaisical as ever. What was she doing here...!? Instinctively Futo slams the door without a word, but changes her mind just a moment later and swings it wide open. Her dumbfounded expression has changed to a grin, shoulders back, fingers poised.
“O-HO! Dost mine eyes deceive me? Ha-ku-re-i Re-i-mu do-no!” She lets each syllable jar for dramatic effect. “Fufufu, fufufu...! For what reason dost thou dare approach me again? Could it be... thou hast earched far and wide for a rematch!? Oho!”
“Stand back, Samejina-dono! The fight of this century is about to commence!”

“ …. “
Ok, she was trying to make a point there. Yamashina understood as much but this was getting a little annoying. He moved the documents that could still be saved to their folder saving those that needed to dry on the side of neigbouring desk.
But well, despite the tiringly long intro it could still be something serious. He ought to at least lend his ear to her case.
“ …. Yamashina is enough. “
“ Well, sure sounds like a big problem you have there… Can’t really tell for sure unless you let me know what it is. I will do my best, I’ll promise that much. “
So he agrees to help.
“Heh...”
She lets the silence sink in so anticipation will reach its peak. Then again, suddenly, she points, her movements accentuated by billowing sleeves tied with multicolor string and ribbons.
“A wise decision -- or mayhaps one most dumb? We shall see!”
“Either way, the matter at hand is that these dastardly demons have usurped mine powers! I am but a humble old woman now, forced to seek help among modern enforcers of the law... Tch! Humiliating! But if thou possesses thes special training required for operating as mortals under these circumstances, I have no choice... I am missing two people, Yamashina-dono! Two. People who SURELY can NOT live without mine comforting existence! So, so? Shall we get it started, as it is said? Mayhaps thou might show me to thy magic mirror or crystal ball to search their location...? Hm?”
