He’s always been a first-name-basis kind of guy, considering last names and respect weren’t necessarily his thing - he was capable, of course, but what would it really matter? Not many people seemed to care, at least. Lavi looks back down to the book in his lap, though, reclining comfortably and flipping the page as he listens to the door swing back shut - and the footsteps that follow.
“Lavi,” simple and straight-forward, very to the point; didn’t have a last name to give, anyway, “Nice to meet ya.”
The bookman glances up again when the footsteps approach and then fade again; he can only assume he’s wandering, trying to find the bedroom. It wouldn’t be hard to do, the house they’d been given wasn’t very big, though it was fully furnished and that definitely made up for the size, in Lavi’s opinion.
Quantity, not quality, right?
“Doubt there’d be enough room for the both of us, yeah? Only one bed, and I take up a lot of room. Ya might end up on the floor, instead of on the couch, y’know?” It sounds casual, and like he’d seen what Dazai had said coming; not to mention he doesn’t look up from his book as he speaks.
He takes a moment to clap his hands together,
smile only widening into something brighter. If
it is a fake smile, it isn’t obvious-- Dazai is a curious
man after all, and the less one speaks the more
there tends to be to say.
“ Ah! Lavi-chan it is, then. “
He turns back to looking in the rooms, noting the
small, yet furnished area, humming as he glances
at each nook and cranny; it’s a byproduct of days
gone by, being cautious of one’s surroundings so
intently. It’s masked as curiosity.
At Lavi’s next statement, he stops in his tracts for
a moment, looking at the other, before he laughs
lightly.
“ I might end up on the floor! You’re right, that may hurt a bit---
ah, nonetheless, I was only kidding. The bed is all yours,
Lavi-chan. I don’t sleep much either way! Even if I did-- “
His words barely match his smile-- chipper, but
concerning.
“ --Chair, couch, floor, roof, middle of the street-- I am an adaptable
man. Take whatever you wish and I’ll make due. “
