And there she went with rosy cheeks, bounding right up to the woman in the cool winter air. In her grasp was a large, dark blue scarf, mirroring the one already wrapped about her chin. With a (slightly muffled) hum, dainty fingers held the extra scarf out for Mercedes. While her lips couldn’t be seen under the woolen fabric, her smile was still apparent in her eyes, bright as the radiant sun, “Here, Mercedes! No one’s getting sick on my watch.”

It was so easy to hang on Petra’s every word. Her undivided attention may have been due in part to her lack of full mastery over the native language – to make sure she listened and understood her – but… The woman was so confident, so bold, and Maya held so much admiration for her almost from the very moment they met. There was much and more she wanted to learn from the huntress, but so little time to do it amid the fires of war. The shouts and clashing weapons filling the air alerted them to the battle breaking out nearby… and, naturally, Petra planned to quietly join the fray via the bushes and trees around them.
There was a snort and a shuffle of hooves from the pegasus beneath her, prompting Maya to gently pat at a gorgeous white mane, to keep the beast calm and quiet. Her eyes returned to the other almost instantly, and she simply nodded, all-too-happy to place her trust in the heir to Brigid. Petra could definitely hold her own against such a small group! A smile pulled at her lips, voice warming with admiration, “Alright, but we’ll be coming in with air support! I’ll be your eyes in the sky, so go wild, Queen.”

Maya is lowkey terrified any time Raphael engages an enemy in battle, and makes a habit of packing lots of extra medical supplies just in case he takes a bad hit. If nudged towards learning Faith by Byleth, she’ll also save most of her magical stores for healing him, though she’ll heal others in an emergency when no one else can reach them. Atop her pegasus and armed with a lance, she isn’t too fearful of getting hurt herself, confident that she can keep enemies just out of reach, but Raphael has no such luck, engaging in very close-quarters combat with no heavy armor or mount to protect him.

It wasn’t very often that she saw Bernadetta out and about. According to her brother, she used to be even more of a recluse before the war... Maya had to wonder how that was even possible with how beautiful the monastery grounds were! With a few too many sweets from the dining hall bundled in her arms, the girl decided right then and there to share them! With a cheery smile, she strode right up to the other, holding out a sweet chocolate pastry wrapped up in delicate wax paper, “Hey Bernie, are you hungry..? I can’t eat all these by myself, so help me out!”
Just how many pastries did Maya have..? One, two, three... Far too many! How in the Goddess’s name did she maintain such a slim figure with an appetite like that?! Bright eyes beamed at Bernadetta from behind the small mountain of sweets in her arms, “Pretty please?”

The pegasi were always so lovely. Whether they were flitting about in the sky above Garreg Mach, or resting ‘pon the grounds, Maya never could take her eyes off of them. She wanted to fly, too. And maybe with a bit more practice, she could. While the monastery had fallen to shambles in the years since the war broke out, the stables were thankfully still intact... Twintails reflecting the bright sun above bobbed up and down as she traipsed about, and a similar head of golden hair caught her eye. She was... Ingrid, right? A lady knight, so beautiful and stalwart, everything that her brother wasn’t.
And yet, he wanted to be a knight, too... If Raphael could become a knight, then Maya could fly, and it was in that moment of confidence that she approached the woman.
“Are you here to take care of your pegasus, Ingrid?” A bright smile, so natural, so full of warmth. Truly, there was no denying that she and Raphael were siblings. Folding her hands behind her back, the girl rocked on her heels, eager and hopeful, “D’you think I could tag along and help? I want to learn more about them, so I can have a pegasus of my own!”
