As much as Glenn might’ve been entertaining the idea of fatherhood, the ultimate decision rested with Ingrid. She would be doing all of the work involved in bringing a baby into the world, after all, and if that wasn’t something she wanted? Then no deal. Given that he had the far easier job in comparison, he could live with that.Â
Part of him already suspected what Ingrid’s answer was going to be even before she said anything, but that didn’t stop it from feeling like a surprise anyway. Maybe it was because it made this conversation feel more like a discussion of logistics than some far-off hypothetical, or because their initial hangups weren’t completely off the table. Either way, he felt himself smile regardless.
“I’d hope so. I can’t tell who would kill me first if I wasn’t: you, or Felix.” Glenn had always been cautious with regards to his health; the last thing he wanted was to get everyone’s hopes up, only for everything to come suddenly crashing down. He’d already caused them enough grief for one lifetime. Still, Ingrid has a point. It’s been a long time since he’s gotten sick, and he’s already long outlived the initial estimate he’d given himself.
It was almost strange to feel optimistic now, but Glenn happened to be quite skilled at defying the odds.
“Well, I haven’t completely fucked up being an uncle yet, so that’s a start. And you were always the more talented between the two of us, so I think you’d be a fantastic mother. Any kid would be lucky to have you,” he says, his voice both fond and sincere. “But seriously— we don’t have to. Your vote on this outweighs mine.”
Ingrid’s heart quickens in her chest. They’re really talking about this. They’re really doing this. The more this conversation goes on, Ingrid just keeps thinking that they’re going to come away with this trying to start a family.
They’re going to be parents, with any luck.
“I... I say... let’s do it,” she says, her voice hushed but not shy. She looks right at Glenn and breaks into a nervous, slightly giddy grin. “I’m in. I think I can handle pregnancy, right? It can’t be anymore arduous than war.”
Joking aside, Ingrid does think she can handle it. She will miss horseback riding for a little while, but it will only be temporary. And the trade off was getting a child. A bit of both of them that would endure forever.
She adds, “But, uhm... let’s not tell anyone we’re trying. I hear it’s bad luck, and this can just be for us right now. We can... have fun making an effort and just see what happens. That way, if nothing comes of it, then there’s no huge disappointments to deliver to everyone else, yknow?”
It would be more romantic to keep it themselves. Their family, as loving and wonderful as they were, could be nosy and Ingrid didn’t want to field the scrutiny or constant curiosity until there was actually something to be curious about. For now, it could just be them. Seeing where their fate carried them as they tried to have a baby.
Ingrid lets out a nervous giggle before she bumps her forehead against Glenn’s.
“Just imagine how cute our baby would be, though... It would look so much like you.”
I'm gonna do it... im gonna try to write some replies.
No guarantee I'll succeed, but I'm gonna TRY!!!!
“Y-Yuri!” Bernadetta squeaks. She glances at the cross-stitch in her hand, then practically tosses it at him before she can lose her nerve. “It’s for you! For your birthday! I mean, obviously it is, but I thought you still like mockingbirds? Oh, what was I thinking, it’s terrible anyway and you’re going to hate it—”
Happy Birthday Yuri!
"Hold on, hold on! Bernadetta, this is great," he says quickly, to try and calm the poor woman's nerves. She's panicking already and he hasn't even had a chance to react.
The cross stitch, though, is beautiful. It is a mockingbird on a branch with the scene of a forest behind it. Yuri DOES still like mockingbirds, and he likes the embroidered tableau as well. It might look nice on a throw pillow, for some kind of living room parlor he doesn't actually have, but might someday.
"Thank you. This is a lovely and thoughtful gift. Legitimately."
“There you are.” Byleth places a box into Yuri’s hands and then presses a kiss to his cheek. It’s a board game she’d picked up at the market; he’d mentioned liking those, once. “Happy birthday.”
Happy Birthday Yuri!
"Mmmm, this looks like an interesting one. I don't think I've played it before," Yuri smirks. "It would make an even nicer birthday if you came over later to play it with me~"
And for as flirtatiously as he presents the offer, Yuri would, actually, enjoy learning how to play this board game. The rules are different than what he's used to, but he does enjoy a tactical challenge.
"Think you'd like to come over and let me win?"
"Happy birthday, here's your gift." It's your boss with more work.
Happy Birthday Yuri!
"I truly wish you had forgotten. Ugh."
I'm horrible and haven't been active (there's emotional stuff happening that I'm working through), but its YURI'S BIRTHDAY!!!
Happy birthday to the trash man of all time!

I’m home from my travels!!!
I’m suffering from wild jetlag, but I am home once more and I’ll try to work on replies soon.
Man idk... should I make a sideblog for Legend of Zelda characters?
TOTK got me rolling in my Hyrule feels real bad.
"Ilya, how many children must we adopt before you qdmit that this is a committed relationship?"
"I wish you'd stop referring to this in such terms. I'm your adviser, you need to stop this."
"That being said, there is another sickly infant I think needs a better home."
So my flight got cancelled and the entire trip has been delayed by 9 days.
So I guess I might be around for a bit.
Here, to tide you all over while I’m gone, enjoy some pictures of my Emmeryn cosplay from the con I was at last month!!!
I really enjoyed being her.
Ok, so I know I haven’t been super active, b/c I’ve been busy playing TOTK. In 4 days, I also get on a plane and go on an international trip to Iceland and Ireland.
So.... I’ll be back in July. Don’t count on me for much until then. I’m so sorry.
"Would you still care about me if I was a frog?" Jeralt and Byleth
"...Yeah. You'd still be my kid, I'd just have to.. .carry a bucket of water around for you, I guess? But I'd still love you even if you were a frog."
I’m at a con and can’t post about it properly, but today IS Mercedes con Martriz’s birthday.
Please celebrate her, she deserves it.

@tomestobetold II continued from here
His father had left him with quite the mess of a kingdom. Xander had found dozens of unjust punishments meted out to those who didn’t deserve it. Not to mention the survivors of Garon’s wrath – they were so many provinces who threatened rebellion now that he was gone, and Xander had to get them back in line. That had been a grueling task, but he’d survived and Nohr was better for it.
Eventually, the king stumbled upon old documents from Garon’s time. Leo helped him handle those and kept record of everything, and one particular document had caught the king’s eye that day. It was written in a cipher neither he nor his advisors knew to decode. The decoding efforts were underway, of course, and they had finally yielded a location.Â
Xander took his knights to investigate. Something told him that this matter demanded a king’s presence. His knights surrounded the old manor as he ventured inside. A force of this sort would startle anyone, and that was why he assured the woman he faced that he meant her no harm.Â
She didn’t need his assurance. He could tell she didn’t fear him at all. Then she poses her question, and he furrows a brow, not following her implication.Â
She was too old for her son to realize who she was. He’d always remember the mother he’d lost, but he knew her only by her youthful face.Â
“Apologies, my lady, but I do not.”
“Have we met? And, for that matter, how do you know me?”
Have we met... Those words ring hollow into Katerina. It is logical that her son wouldn’t remember her, it had been far too many years and she looked so much older than anything he could have remembered. But it stung no less to know that she was robbed of so much.
But still, she tries to smile. She knows that this is ground she must tread lightly on. Her son is wearing his father’s armor, after all, and that was a sign that something... difficult must have happened. Perhaps Garon was dead, perhaps he had just abdicated, but both options included difficulties.
It was best to tread lightly.
“We have,” she assured him. “But it has been many years... Your Majesty.”
Katerina gave a quick bow at her shoulders. It had been many years since she’d ever had to bow to anyone, but formality might be her ally here.
“I’m sorry for being... perhaps overly familiar. It has been many, many years since I was last in the royal castle. I believe you were only a child at the time.”
Katerina looked back up at him, hoping that something might strike him as familiar.
“My name is... Katerina,” she told him.
