hinata & kageyama

- *cuddling* *cue kageyama’s gay panic*

- hinata is usually the small spoon, but when they switch kageyama secretly loves it but he would rather swallow a volleyball than say it aloud

- hinata murmurs kageyama’s name a lot in his sleep *cue gay panic again*

- kageyama sleeps extremely still but hinata is shifting all over the place, sometimes he just rolls and wakes up hanging over the edge of the bed in the morning or hugging kageyama’s legs

- despite this, it takes kageyama an hour at least to fall asleep, and he always just spends it wondering how hinata falls asleep at the drop of a hat

- fights over the blanket on cold nights until they decide to just cuddle and share body heat

daichi & suga

- HUGE married couple vibes

- hugs each other to sleep

- quiet, content snoring

- daichi tends to wake up first, and turns to look at a very precious and asleep suga clinging to his side

- brushes suga’s hair out of his face

- daichi lies there in the warmth staring at him with a small smile on his face until he falls asleep again

tsukishima & yamaguchi

- you thought tsukki was the big spoon? HA

- yamaguchi burying his face into tsukishima’s shoulder

- every time yamaguchi gets a bad dream, tsukishima always turns over and wraps an arm around him until he calms down

- they both fall asleep really quickly, especially with each other around

- yamaguchi always greets tsukishima with a “good morning, tsukki” and tsukishima is dying but he’ll never admit how adorable yama is

bokuto & akaashi

- bokuto ends up unable to sleep without clinging onto akaashi

- bokuto ends up rolling over and crushing akaashi with his full body weight, but then he relaxes and it becomes a really nice hug, then the both of them fall asleep like that

- “akaashi, are you awake” “yes, bokuto-san” “do you think owls have feelings”

- bokuto sleeps like a LOG, akaashi is a light sleeper

- akaashi always gets awakened by bokuto’s snoring, but he doesn’t mind it because it means he knows bokuto is sleeping well

iwaizumi & oikawa

- “iwa-chan” “go to sleep, shittykawa” “I can’t sleep” “how is that my problem”

- he ends up turning over and hugging oikawa from behind anyway

- iwaizumi secretly loves the cuddling, but he would never admit that out loud

- the first time they shared a bed iwaizumi was the blushy one

- oikawa loves waking up in iwaizumi’s arm, and sneaking in a sleepy kiss on iwaizumi’s face before he wakes up

- his face is actually really relaxed when he sleeps, especially when oikawa is around, it doesn’t look as angry

asahi & nishinoya

- nishinoya ends up becoming a koala and wrapping both his arms and legs around asahi in the middle of the night

- they are both easily cold, so they do a lot of cuddling under a thick blanket

- nishinoya always wakes up super early, scaring asahi awake with a loud greeting but he’s so fond of noya that he never minds it

- nishinoya knows not to disturb asahi when he looks particularly tired though, and will burrow under his arms and into his embrace

kuroo & kenma

- kenma falls asleep first

- kuroo wraps one arm around kenma protectively, making sure that kenma’s comfortable before he falls asleep himself

- they’re both super silent sleepers, they sleep like the dead

- kuroo always rises on time though, his body clock just does That™

- “kenma, we’re going to be late” “I know” “sleepyhead”

- “kuroo you’re too tall for the blanket”

the main problem i have with fanon’s characterization of oikawa is his whiny-ness. he always overreacts when other characters (usually iwaizumi) annoy or “bully” him, usually by actually getting his feelings hurt or pouting until the offender strokes his ego in some way. basically, fanon oikawa often acts like a toddler and shows much less of the serious or spiteful aspects of his character we see in canon.

that isn’t to say canon oikawa doesn’t act immaturely because he certainly does (think him playing tug of war over a volleyball with kageyama and laughing when he won or making takeru take that picture of kageyama bowing). however, in contrast to fanon oikawa’s behavior, canon oikawa’s immaturity is usually explainable. for example, he has beef with kageyama so oiks will take any opportunity he can to feel like he has an edge over the poor kid. fanon oikawa often reacts the way he does just to fit some kind of fanon interaction formula we’ve created over the years. iwaizumi says something rude, oikawa pouts and says “mean, iwa-chan :(((((((,” iwaizumi says something else, oikawa pouts even more, and so on.

in canon, oikawa often ignores jabs from iwaizumi, retaliates with his own insult, or gets aggitated. he understands the dynamic that he has with people; iwaizumi is going to insult him bc that’s how they are together! he expects it!!! it’s not going to hurt his feelings and he’s not going to while like a baby everytime it happens. that would be super annoying!! iwaizumi doesn’t want to be bffs with a dude who is unintentionally annoying and pouty. he wants to be bffs with canon oikawa, who knows how annoying he can be and plays it up to get a rise out of his friends or puts on his serious attitude whenever the situation calls for it. he’s a smart dude who knows when it’s acceptable to act certain ways and when it’s not.

obviously oikawa can be interpreted in billions of ways but it makes me sad to see him stripped of his complexity and reduced to some whiny idiot when he rarely (if at all) acts like that in canon.
