tread carefully, for all the wild fairies are at play
I was told that otherkin weren’t real because they didn’t suffer from dysphoria, and are only doing this for attention. Is that true? (I mean, I’m sure some people are just doing it for attention, but it doesn’t seem like the majority) I just wanted to get input from someone in the community.
i don’t think otherkin and dysphoria have to exist at the same time for someone to be otherkin, at least in my opinion. i believe otherkin is more about reincarnation and having memories of a past life and being drawn to it again, then finding and connecting with those who were in your same timeline and sharing it that way. either way, the idea of “faking it” for attention is stupid because it doesn’t hurt anyone (unless you pretend to be someone from their timeline when you’re not, that’s a bad move) so there’s no real harm being done. i’ve only been in the community for a short while though, so i can’t say any of this with extreme confidence, but that’s just how i feel! i hope i could help you some ♡
otherkin is defined as identifying as not-human in a non-physiological way. you dont need dysphoria OR memories to be otherkin!
reblogging this bc it's a great add on!!

i don’t recognize myself in my own mirror, i cant see myself. this is not who im supposed to be.
i told my parents that i wanna dye my hair red (it's to match my memories of myself, but they don't know that hehe) and they were super on board!! i'm so tired of having blue hair, though it was cool while it lasted. ill be sure to post photos when i finally get around to colouring it!
