MONSTER: SHINING RABBIT
Dodging passersby left and right, Rei Shingetsu ducked under someone’s arm and nearly upset a steel-gray trash can as he sprinted through the streets, feet pounding on the sidewalk. The December air raked icy fingers across his face; he was underdressed and had neglected even a scarf in his rush out of the apartment. But what could he do? It had completely slipped his mind that the card shop sale ended today! But he didn’t have time to even curse himself as he rushed straight through a flock of doves, causing them to scatter in a whirl of white wings and angry, flustered cooing.
He next turned a corner at such a sharp angle that his body threatened to topple, before recognizing the door of the card shop take form in the distance – from what he could see through the windows, it was hellishly crowded even at this hour, no doubt because of that sale, but! the important part: he was going to make it before closing time! Relieved, he blessed the colorful shelves of card packs in his mind, entered a final burst of speed, and in this moment of focus – barreled straight into someone coming out of the card shop.
