i'm back on tumblr, at least for a while. mainly because i've had enough with my hobby being slandered by wannabes of all kinds. if you don't want to see the whole gamergate thing flood your box you're free to unfollow me, or if you've blocked the tag already, do whatever.

after all, i can't order anyone to keep following me :U not like i'm some high-known blog either.

Gamergate: The biggest PVP match i've ever played.

what better MM"O" out there than real life huh, 10/10 graphics and quite an interesting AI.

you know, over this past month i can't help but notice the similarities that gamergate has with any big raid or team-played game. i turn on my internet, get on my media site of choice, and immediately my team is joined by hundreds of people. sometimes it's white cis men, others it's a black woman, some other time it's a gay transgender chinese.

what do we do then? we play, i don't argue with them because i feel intimidated by their skin color (which i can't even see) or their equipment "down there" (which i can guess based on voice) but i, and many other gamers, don't care about it. we play to win. their sex and color are not important, their skill is. if someone is goofing up i'll telll him to get his game on, women or man, black or white or anything inbetween.

of course, we'll always get the troll, the guy who has it's joy by crashing our game, or grabbing the datamass and dropping it somewhere unreachable, these people are part of the game community too, and know what we do with such jackasses? we report them, because they ruin the fun of playing the game.

and right now, the media is trying to ruin my fun, telling me i should feel bad for liking games, all while not even being able to agree if bayonetta is sexist or not. well, PVP accepted guys and girls. today on my team i have the folks of #notyourshield, who were with me yesterday in that halo reach multiplayer, or on the opposing side of that pokemon XY match

and if some troll who claims to be on our side or yours starts to doxx people and send death threats, you can be sure that we'll report him, we've been doing so for ages after all.

i'm a gamer, i'm here to game, nothing else.

are you implying that i should abandon my hobby, simply because people smear the name of those who play? no thanks. i play games, i enjoy games, that makes me a gamer and nothing else.

and on her post? she's insulting gamers. she's insulting me and the hobby i enjoy. and we won't stand for that, for baseless and toxic accusations about a community that all it wants, is enjoy good games. made by anybody.

if it's good, i'll play, wether it's made from an all male studio, all female studio, or an all dog-studio. and i'd like game journalists to tell me if the game is good, not that my feelings might be hurt or that the team had no women and that makes it a bad game and not worth playing.

On one hand, it is about journalistic ethics. On the other, said ethics seem to be compromised by the SJW ‘culture critic’ individuals and mentality.

The whole problem is that I don’t want Gamergate to be about women or SJWs, but if I’m really honest, I feel like ‘ethics’ won’t fucking be enough....

right now gamergate is a "hate everything not white male" to everyone's eyes, no matter how many women or notyourshields speak out.

one fight at a time. people who have nothing to do or should have nothing to do with games media should get out of games media, whatever happens afterwards will happen then.

feminists are not angry that women are sexualized in video games. it’s the fact that these characters are nothing more than a sex object. women in video games usually lack depth, personality, and individuality. there’s nothing wrong with being sexy, but when most girls in games are just sex objects with no personality there’s an issue.

the problem here is that you’re generalizing. of course if you’re going to play a testosterone-filled game like duke nukem forever women aren’t going to be much more than cardboard cutouts. actual wars don’t allow, or haven’t allowed women in them for a long time so expecting a war game to have women protagonists isn’t going to work. a lot of the stigmas you see in videogames come from the real world

but videogames still have strong female protagonists and characters, the tales series for example is great in that it gives you myriads of females on every game, each with their own strength and issues, for a wargirl that don’t need no man there’s samus aran, and the final fantasy saga has had women around for a pretty good while, with lightning and her sister being the protags in the last few installments.

and there’s plenty more like that. if you can’t find well portrayed women in the games, my only suggestion is to dig deeper. they’re there, and i’ve 100%’d games with them.

as a last note, and please don’t take this as an insult, but what idea do you think your tumblr name gives? you’re complaining that women are portrayed as nothing more than sex objects and yet you wear the moniker of “cybrslut”? i personally don’t care but it’s just some food for thought, for all i know you could be a dude, and that’d be perfectly fine too.

So what is GamerGate “really” about? I think this is the kinda question a philosopher of language would tear apart and scatter the remnants of to the wind, because it lacks any real referent. You guys refuse to appoint a leader or write up a platform or really do any of the things real-life, adult “movements” do. I’d argue that there isn’t really any such thing as GamerGate, because any given manifestation of it can be torn down as, again, No True GamerGate by anyone who disagrees with it. And who gets to decide what is and isn’t True GamerGate? You can’t say you want a decentralized, anonymous movement and then disown the ugly parts that inevitably pop up. Either everything is in, or everything is out.

and on that same vein, if the movement is founded, based, and it’s essence is journalistic ethics, and then some neo-nazi misogynistic asshole comes into the tag to deface, well, anyone on either side, he’s not  what the group is about, no matter what he says.

in the same way that “feminists” who declare death on all men, death to father’s day, and a myriad of other radical things, or SJW’s doxxing, harrassing, and sending death threats and needles to people, shouldn’t be counted as part of what a SJW should or aims to be. or should i hold every feminist and SJW accountable for these actions? because that’s what that paragraph is trying to imply.

gamergate polices “their” troublemakers, i expect the other side to do the same. gamergate is about ethical journalism regardless of color or gender, anything else is off-topic.
