galaxy brain: playing pokemon X/Y without using mega evolution proves Lysandre right, because you are presented with a scarcity scenario with the mega ring and you use your strength to selfishly decide that nobody should have or use one

interesting lore with an elaborate creation mythos and the literal embodiment of hell (which you visit!!)

dawn was the most stylish player character and that’s indisputable

THE most bangin soundtrack of any pokémon game bar none. the low health theme, zekrom/reshiram theme, elite four theme, driftveil city theme and team plasma theme are the best songs in the entire franchise

first gen with a pokédex filled with entirely new pokémon

pokémon battle animations that made them feel more alive and changed depending on its hp and whether or not it was hit with a status effect (not just for your opponent’s pokémon but for yours as well!!)

most compelling story with well-developed rivals and sympathetic antagonists (except for ghetsis he can fuck off) that made you question the ethics of pokémon battles for the first time

You’re forgetting that Heart Gold and Soul Silver were part of the DS era too. Not only the best remakes GF have done (since it was faithful and added stuff like, oh, idk, the battle frontier *cough* ORAS take notes *cough* but also added new stuff like the Pokeathelon and also POKEMON FOLLOWED YOU.
