Yeah he’s officially gone full Elon
Matt what are you even doing anymore? Cmon man
And he’s been doing this shit for days now. He’s not owned, just so you know. He’s definitely not owned. Certified corncob moment
I believe Matt Mullenweg's abuses of his unilateral, unchecked powers prove that it is in the best interest of the entire WordPress communit
Linking this as context for prev and anyone else who’s curious, it’s a really thorough rundown of the public fit Matt has been throwing for the past month. Basically he’s burning down Wordpress’ open source ecosystem out of spite
back on here because staff is doing the thing again, and for some reason people still give them the benefit of the doubt, even though this kind of thing literally happens every few months, and has not stopped happening no matter how many times they've made big public apologies in the aftermath of it.
i'm gonna keep saying it but i do think this website is fundamentally transmisogynistic, from the well documented history of bigotry actions by both the staff and owners, down to the userbase being so passively hostile that the only places that are truly welcoming for transfeminine folks are also full of predators.
But the fact that transfeminine folks can't even really talk about that without the conversation being turned to those predators in either defense or condemnation, in one way or another, is in itself damning
they should invent a tech ceo that doesn't have the insecurity of a 12 year old boy

The thing about Cottagecore is that is a fetishized aesthetic of country life, divorced from labor and idealized by a primarily urban audience with a backward looking ethos of tradition. They are not prepared for the stresses of a rural life: farming; harvesting; tapping pumpkins to ensure none of them have been replaced with flesh; losing out on income by having to use one of your pigs in a blood sacrifice to paint protective sigils over your doors and windows; checking cracks and chimneys for the flesh-vines of the Pumpkin Lord; having to decide, before the Growth is complete, whether that's really your tradwife or an amassment of vines, leaves, and blood in the shape of your tradwife; ignoring their desperate pleas that "I'm me! No! No!" as you burn them alive, realizing too late you picked wrong; and the exploitative corporate nature of commercial farming in 2024. All seen through a deeply colonial lens, of course
When I made this post I did not expect it to be an effective test of which Tumblr users actually read a post fully before reblogging, and yet
To be fair that’s what all posts on tumblr are
when i came out as trans in 2014 it felt like things were coming around. sure there was still a lot of transphobia and cruelty and pain involved in the process but it seemed like maybe there were things to be optimistic about. it truly felt like we were maybe gonna be okay. and some people saw the trannies being happy and loved and unafraid to be seen or heard and they felt threatened. and now for several years its been a slow miserable process of the powers that be trying to push us back into the margins, return us to isolation and loneliness, expose to hatred and violence.
we were once a joke to them and now they just want us all dead. it is a seething and hideous hatred that boils over with increasing frequency. it shows in every corner of the world, from governments to employers and landlords and goddamn stupid social media websites all alike. but i have never known love or support like that ive received from the fellow trans women in my life. its so important. we have the numbers. we have the heart. we will not lose. we will fight back and win.
yesterday i was ringing up an old man at work and he asked if i wanted to see his pride and joy, pulled out his wallet, and in the place where you’d keep a picture of like your family he had this
Happy Valentine's day
its fascinating how very very surface level 1920s-ish jazz age inspired aesthetics are very popular (see: hazbin hotel and electroswing and the endless wave of bowtie pinstripe character designs from the 2010s) but the vast vast majority of people who are into that seem fundamentally disinterested in actually engaging with actual jazz age art and culture because that would require engaging with black art
hello hazbin hotel fan. before you is an image of cab calloway. if you cannot correctly name at least one song of his then you will be dropped into a pool of live hammerhead sharks
The Hazbin fans getting mad in the notes, but still not able to name a Calloway song is telling

Thesis: the reason we're having a nostalgic revival of the 1990s in 2024 even though nostalgic revivals usually trail twenty years behind the genuine article rather than thirty is because what everybody is picturing when they think of "the 1990s" is actually the early 2000s.
