I quite like, perhaps love Not Suitable For Work! And the straw that broke the back on that was when the nice guy who believes in true love at first sight™ was little misogynistic. It was like a breath of fresh air like okay these are realistic characters now, these are people. I love the balance on their work and love lives and still the ridiculous premises that exist in tv comedy.

The girls are go getters but they still get distracted by feelings, the guys want love but aren't sure how to do that so they focus on work + friends. They're good inverses of eachother in a way, although it doesnt quite make sense so far how they can afford to live in the same apartment. (But im only on the 3rd ep)

Very new girl i hate to say bc i hate comparisons but i do love new girl!!

I love this example of male friendship/female friendship/male female friendship, its good to bring that back especially as something a bit aspirational for gen zers who are saving money at home or in college or in similar situations oh forget it its fun and cute its good for anyone shit situation or not

Just finished watching call me by your name for the first time and wow...what a haunting last scene. The movie as a whole is a fantastical pinned down reality, but that last scene is really something hauntingly beautiful.

The reflection of the fire on his face and in his teary eyes as he mourns a summer that is clearly dead, the snow outside is heavily pouring in the unfocused window. But the love is still there, and its cold and warm at the same time, and the music talking of visions of gideon and was it a video. Gideon to me is a very futurisitic name, i'm not sure where the association comes for me but its like one of those undercurrent names that feels like it would last into a distant future. And videos, certainly for the timeperiod the movie is set is a futurisitic thing. I think that makes everything perhaps a bit more haunting is that he doesnt even have videos of the love, the summer, of oliver. I dont even remember them ever taking a picture. So the music constantly asking, is it a video, and we so clearly know its not, and its not even a video. Its always going to be something in his mind.

I think theres even something with playing the credits during this scene thats emotive in two parts. one is that its a really effective way to give those people recognicition for their part in the movie. But also it gives this illusion of the movie being done, but its not. We're in the middle of a scene, a particularly impactful one, and the credits are rolling. But we're not done yet! very creative way to make the audience feel like were in the middle of it with elio, the world is trying to tell us its done but it doesnt feel done. it feels like there should be more, there certainly could be more, but the story is done.

Also love the colors in this movie like how uniform everything was, it felt so intentional and grabbed my attention each time.

Okay after a nights rest i have more things to say i like about off campus so far:

I like that hes not a dumb dumb!!! He's willing to work hard to understand something! That is a very attractive quality in a person.

Also relatable with the topic area too, i remember being able to memorize shit about Sophocles and plato but not really understanding it fundamentally. Someone on the writing staff did their homework! Funnily tho, i cannot check it because i dont remember the stuff i memorized so hopefully it actually makes sense lol

Even though he clearly likes her, hes still actually helping her try to get the guy. I like that hes gonna have to consciously like her at some point hehehhe. But also, hes not being selfish! Another good quality.

The best friend and her bf seem to be on different, but equally valid pages. Im intrigued to see how that plays out. I hope no ones viewpoint is villianized in the narrative sense

I find music as plot in non-musicals distracting or annoying for the most part but im watching off campus and there is a moment where this guy is stressed tf out and randomly runs across his love interest(?) doing an impromptu musical number bc she was stressed tf out and i do find that hilarious.

Mostly bc like yeah if i was angry about something and stumbled across someone doing a whole musical act i would also be so caught off guard that id be put into a good mood.

Also love that she didnt know he saw her and wasnt made to feel embarrassed of her singing/dancing, i hate when that happens.

This is a corny show but i am committed to watching college set shows 🫡
