Brand new day thoughts !! spoilers!!
Brand new day is so interesting bc who is MJ without her first friend and first love...she is still intelligent, confident, and witty, but she's also guarded--"withholding". She and ned originally became friends through peter, but without him they might have had a slower friendship, deepened by attending the same college, but at the same time ned never forced her to confront her feelings the same way peter did. And she does the same for peter.
Its a very interesting concept, the people we become without the influence of others. Peter becomes reclusive, self-deprecating/destructive.
Ned is an interesting case, because at first glance he seems the same. More grown up, but essentially the same person, but he definitely gives the vibe of someone who has a lot of friends but not a lot of close friends. He didn't seem put off by peter being in his apartment as a total stranger to both him and MJ. I wonder if this has to do with his strong family with his grandma. I wonder what MJs family background is like.
Still i love how peter and ned become friends as adults, its possible!! That must also be so affirming for peter, that even if they met as adults they would probably still be friends, it can be hard to remain friends with ppl u met in hs, you just change so much in early adulthood, but awww they would still be friends like namxjsndnnd🥹☺️
And yeah its sad that adult mj and peter dont match romanticlly, but they were friends first anyways
