idk why but there is something unusually funny to me about Will Wood using social media extremely sparingly but making an exception to post this long ass rant about how much he hates the Netflix Wednesday show on his youtube community page
And he's right
genuinely believe that the best and funniest thing you can do in any story is send the characters to literal hell
extreme hardcore beach episode
why did sasha james go so hard. she hated horror movies she walked directly into danger at all times she committed murder she was marked by two entities within seconds of each other she had no concept of privacy she spoke with a slight lisp she almost died saving tim her name was enough to goad jon into murder 126 episodes after her death she knew gertrude's disappearance was fishy from day one she had no external friends she worked in the field for a decade she was so bad at archiving and she was in SIX episodes. she was even aro.
my deepest sympathies to everyone in the notes only now realizing she was in so few episodes
Made some pins from audio entertainment I enjoy!
carved my first stamp today oh yeah (with a lot help from my lovely friend who actually has previous stamp carving experience)
This is amazing!
nice pair of characters who trust each other more than anyone else in the whole entire world it would sure be a shame if one of them betrayed that trust for the sake of trying to keep the other alive. it would sure be a shame to love someone so much you destroy them
“i need you to live even if it means you never forgive me for this” is an emotion
It has come to my attention that people have been using my mspaint doodle as a reaction image- and I'm flattered however I realized I didn't sign it so I made a signed version. Use this one instead please and thank you!!
Drawn while listening to Malevolent, but can apply to a wide variety of horror podcasts or listening experiences. I'll tag a few for safe measure
I keep seeing posts that are like "season 1 Tim would be friends with this character" or "season 1 Tim would make archives team watch trashy movies with him" or "season 1 Tim would do this, or this, and season 1 Tim is so friendly and nice with everyone!". And like. There is nothing wrong with headcanons. But I feel like it's very demonstrative of the larger fandom problem of completely ignoring canon to favour a carefully crafted, wildly spread and completely incorrect fanon.
Because believe it or not, season 1 Tim is.... not like that. When I first listened to TMA, before I had any interactions with the fandom, I didn't perceive him like this. Then I started interacting with the fandom, and I, too, saw this interpretation and said, "Oh! I'll add that to my belief system!". But I recently relistened to season 1, and realised how wrong that was.
Tim is "the hot one." Sure. That's canon, Basira said it in season 2. However, Tim is also an incredibly closed off and secretive person. And actually, canonically, he doesn't have many friends at the Institute. Which makes even more sense than him being friendly with everyone. He arrived at the Institute traumatised by The Stranger of all things, making him very distrustful of everyone. Yes, he became friends with pre-season 1 Jonathan "don't talk to me I'm busy" Sims, but Jon was also a traumatised person who was desperately looking for answers.
Sasha (who, by the way, I find is way too often ignored by the fandom) is the friendly one. Sasha became friends with Tim and Jon, Sasha tried her best to make Martin feel accepted in the Archives, Sasha is the nosy one who gets into everyone's business. Not Tim.
This!!! Literally!!!!! That man is little more than a closed off wall of smoke and mirrors who uses comedy as a way to cope!!
In my opinion it’s also one of the things that makes Sasha getting taken by the not!them so impactful. Imagine finally opening up to ONE person, only for that person to then get replaced by the same awful thing that took your brother without you even knowing for months.
Him being “the friendly one” only lessens that impact, not to mention makes his decline and sacrifice a lot more jarring/out of character
If he was capable of building a proper support system he would NOT go downhill that fast
THIS THIS THIS! Timothy "I show the face I know you want to see" Stoker my beloved little fucker.
Tim is "the hot one", yes. But he is NOT the friendly guy who's friends with every other employee and person he meets on the street. He's charismatic, he's charming, he's physically attractive. And he USES that.
He puts on whatever facade/mask a situation or person calls for, and he lays it on thick. He gains a reputation through the grape-vine of being a flirt and a player? He plays that up to his audience, he's flirty and aloof. But none of it is genuine, none of it means anything, because Tim isn't friendly.
Tim has friends, sure. He's as close to friends with Jon as either of them can manage. He's proper friends with Sasha. But that's it. He's not even friends with Martin, he's just passively friendly to him because Sasha is and he sees him everyday in close quarters.
And the only person who ever actually sees through his act is Sasha. It's why she's so adamant they "established it’s very much won’t they." because she knows she's not getting the full picture. Even though Tim has clearly opened up about Danny and he's giving her more than most, Sasha knows Tim can't give anyone his all because he's giving it to hunting down the Circus. Their conversation on the tape in MAG 162 shows it perfectly, how she sees right through him and he still holds the mask up like his life depends on it.
T-"So what, actually I’m the one who doesn’t get to see the real you?"
S- "No such thing."
T-"As what?"
S-"A – A real you. I don’t think so, at least. It’s all just masks."
Yes, she's talking in general about everyone, but she's also saying it directly to Tim. Because the real Tim died with his brother. No one, at the institute especially, will ever know the real Timothy Stoker. Because he doesn't exist. Maybe he never did.
Not a popular opinion on tumblr I know but I would argue character death is good for stories, actually, and often a death with long narrative consequences is much better use of a character than having them linger with no more important plot beats to hit.
Character death isn’t writers being mean to viewers or something characters don’t “deserve,” it’s an important part of narrative and plotting to give stories stakes and emotional beats. The work making you have an emotion is in fact the point, not something to avoid.

you ever think about the dissonance between how Tim's perceived vs how he sees himself. he's the hot one but the girl he's actually interested in doesn't like him that way. he's supposed to be cool and confident but he sees himself as less than his little brother in every respect. he acts chill and laid back but he's so close to snapping -- he's quick to anger, after the prentiss attack, he breaks. he has this persona he's trying to embody, that doesn't really match up with his actual self.
thinking about how melanie said john was welcome "as a friend". thinking about how she wasn't mad at him when they met again even after everything he did to her. thinking about how she just wanted a friend and how john never could have been that for her. thinking about how even if john had accepted her offer she's found happiness he won't allow himself to. thinking about how melanie is a john who knows when to seek help and how georgie is a martin who knows when to draw boundaries. thinking about melanie's hatred and fear of john but still trying to communicate with him. thinking about how when the anger and fear is gone there's only peace left. thinking about how the way john and melanie clash could have been lighthearted arguments and injokes in any other situation. thinking about the john and melanie friendship that could have been.
