In a lot of versions of fairy folklore, if you eat the food of the fae, every meal you have henceforth will taste of ash. If you're an American, be warned, for non-American chocolate is that fae food. It will open your eyes to a world in which you will scarcely see again. You will weep as Hershey's and KitKats turn to naught but chalk upon your tongue. Even the creamy Lindt truffles will pale once you have chocolate made the way the gods intended.

You will know the truth, and you will crave its sweet kiss with nothing but despair as company. And when you try to stave off the need, that desperate desire, with chocolates that promise you European quality, you will be rewarded with nothing but gilded lies and corn syrup.
