Häkkinen arrived in Malaysia quite early. Since his whereabouts had been unknown for four days, he was asked what he had been doing, prompting Schumacher, who was sitting next to him, to chime in: "You were just having sex every day, weren't you?" Häkkinen grinned and replied, "I got tired of it. The weather was bad, you see." The room erupted in laughter. Furthermore, when asked for his thoughts on Schumacher's return, Häkkinen said, "Michael should have just stayed at home." Michael could only offer a wry smile. At the end, Häkkinen added a serious comment: "Isn't it great that it makes things more exciting? Personally, I'm looking forward to it." Frentzen gave a similar response: "He should have stayed home a bit longer. It feels like the ultimate rival has returned." Finally, Häkkinen was hit with two questions in a row. When asked if he was under a lot of pressure this year, a slightly annoyed Häkkinen replied, "That's a pretty long story. Do you want me to talk about it at every race?" As for the other question regarding Schumacher finishing ahead of him, his reaction was very cool: "I don't really mind. As long as it's not Eddie."
