WHO IN MY MUSEUM??!??!??
“I sincerely hope that I don’t have to actually do the sassing and you can be responsible on your own, but…if I have to, I’ll do it, I mean it!” He was very focused on this subject, and rightly so - what with all the trouble his boss seemed to get into and all? Ken was honestly worried that as strong of a ally of justice as he was, one day he might get into some really bad trouble if he wasn’t cautious. Granted, he was a person that knew what he was doing, but he was so irresponsible sometimes (okay a lot of the time) that he couldn’t help worry.
“Ken-kun…? Okay, that’s fine, I guess.” It’s a bit strange that someone not Minato-san or Minako-san wishes to call him that, to be honest. “Okay, then I’ll keep calling you Shinichi-san, then. You can rely on me!”
Of course, calling Ken ‘Ken kun’ might be a bit stranger after a certain event, but seeing as that is in the future in comparison to this thread, I can’t say much laughs.
“Yes, yes, I will rely on you to sass me down then if that time ever comes.” He laughed it off. Kids, really. Such amazing creatures. Well, he can’t blame them, he has been a kid twice before as well.
“Fine by me, Ken-kun.” He stood straight again, his hands in his pockets. “Well, I’m going to go back to work; so catch you later, okay?” Shinichi snickered and turned to walk to his office, giving a small wave in the process.
“If you come by my office later, we can have a drink together. Coffee, hot choco, you name it.”
“Oui, of course” sorry if he’s a little pushy, it is his job though. He doesn’t mean to be rude.
Letting out a little laugh and keeping a smile Raphael nodded “We actually have two, lemon meringue, and key lime pie for this month, can I interest you in one of them, monsieur?” no need to write it down, he put his note book into his apron, adjusting his glasses.
That’s alright. Raphael’s cuteness made up for that.
“Ah, yeah! I’d like the lemon meringue pie then.” Although the key lime pie sounded absolutely delicious at the moment as well. Jesus, stop doing your work well. Raphael. Shinichi laughed at the ginger until he blinked, almost enchanted by the rhythmic way the waiter adjusted his glasses.
“Uh...” Shinichi’s mouth fell agape until he noticed the dumb nature of his own display and closed it again. “Say, what are you doing, working here?” He quickly recovered. “Aren’t you a student too?”
Shinichi was the one to talk, really.
“Hey, I don’t question your constant coffee consummate. Don’t question when I eat cereal.”
“I am going to if you steal my milk for it.” Twitch. “Ever considered asking?”
He takes the milk from his mouth and walks back to the balcony.
“I need milk for my Frosties. See ya, Kudo!”
“It’s four PM. Really?”
“Wuht.”
“I could ask you why you didn’t use the front door but... why are you even here and raiding my fridge?”
“We ran out of milk…”
Time to climb down the balcony into Clover 2 and nick theirs for a while.
“Kuroba...?”
“Uh…” Was it really that weird to hide it? After all, C-ta had said so blatantly that this sort of agreement was under tentative reasoning, so announcing it to the public only to fall back on it… wouldn’t that be bad for both of them? Work would be awkward, and people would regard them strangely, therefore…
“I think… with these grounds, I want to make sure I really like you before we tell anyone… does that make sense?”
Somehow that made Shinichi’s heart pound with excitement. How.. cute. C-ta never ceased to be adorable. It took Shinichi a moment to recover from that, his gaze elsewhere as he took a breath and calmed down.
“Yeah, it does.” He answered, although it didn’t. Pretty much the whole force figured something romantic was going on between them. Heck, Haibara even put condoms in his office’s drawer. Not... that he was aware of that for future purposes or anything. “That is fine by me. Whatever makes you feel comfortable.”
“Bonjour, my name is Raphael and I’ll be serving you today; what can I get for you?” Raphael walked up to the table with a bit of a flourish, smiling to the customer with notebook in hand “Today’s special is the turkey club if you’re looking for food, and I’ll be happy to help if you can’t decide what you want.”
“A-ah... just some coffee for now please. Black.” Shinichi answered, awkwardly looking up at Raphael with a sweatdrop.
“If possible though, could you tell me what this month’s specialty pie is? I’m not really hungry but crave a snack.” He was busy doing some work, after all, and just came here for a change of scenery, not a full blown meal.
Oh, god- um, C-ta just sort of froze in place and looked at Shinichi’s– head? He didn’t really know what to do by this point, although he did figure it was probably something the detective had wanted to do for a long time now. He bit his lip and told himself to bear with it, returning the hug and trying not to look awkward.
“We… probably shouldn’t tell anyone about this, though…”
“Huh?” Shinichi let go of C-ta and blinked at him. The puzzlement on his face was quite easy to read, although Shinichi hadn’t meant to sound so shocked over it. “You want to hide it?”
“I’m okay with that, but may I ask... why?”
“Yeah, of course I do! You and Naoto-san solving so many cases and catching bad guys on the tv - I really admired that, and that’s what made me brave enough to ask for a job at the defense force in the first place - so maybe I can do my part to help catch bad guys too one day.”
No, Shinichi has not entered an alternate universe - such is the general adoration of ‘members of justice’ that Ken has that he even looks up to him, as irresponsible as he can be. He still doesn’t know why Naoto-san doesn’t seem to get along with him now though, nor does he know a thing about a potential death of a white-haired person in another universe. That would be a really sombre mystery though.
As for everything vanishing in some kind of reset, Ken would probably see that as a very confusing and curious case indeed, but that is neither here nor there. Perhaps there is also a sense of the old ‘Detective Boys’ group that makes Ken happy to look up to Shinichi as well. Fourth wall breaking aside, Ken folded his arms at the apology. “Just make sure to try and be more careful, Shinichi-san. If you get in trouble like that again, I’ll just…I’ll just…I’ll have to sass you a lot so it sticks in your head next time.” He’ll do it, too.
Suddenly, pat on head. As much as Ken doesn’t usually like being treated like a kid, to have his hair ruffled reminds him of how his mom used to do that, so it’s nice…
“R-reliable? Gosh… that’s an honour you think that, but my name’s Ken, not ‘assistant kun’. Please try to remember my name…and keep that promise, too.” A small nod from the boy, there.
“I see.” As much as the sass threat was intimidating, Shinichi wasn’t actually that worried about it. Maybe his heart had gone cold after years of being scolded and sassed down by a certain Ai Haibara. She had a sharp tongue and was scary too. Brr.
Shinichi put his hand to his chin as he looked down at the younger boy, contemplating something before he started smirking.
“Then I’ll call you Ken-kun.” He announced, for once being fine with calling someone else by their first name. Shinichi didn’t need to go Ashita no Joe with his speech around children, really. “And you can continue calling me Shinichi if you like.” Though he briefly wondered why the boy glued ‘-san’ to the end and not ‘-niichan’. Kids these days.
“I’ll be relying on your support from here onwards as well.”
‘Shades of Pandora’ by ‘Sherry K. Clover’ Takes Japan by Storm
Boss of the most influential detective agency in town, Jennifer Hermes had a routine. Every day she woke up, drank coffee, solved homicide cases, drank coffee, flirted with her sexy secretary Christa, drank coffee, ate dinner with her childhood friend Hope Themis and her family and drank more coffee before going to sleep.
That is until she took a co-worker’s invitation to a Phantom Thief Pandora heist on a whim. It was supposed to be just business when she cornered the elusive magician in red. But under the light of moon, dashing criminal got away with stealing not only his target for the night, but also Jennifer’s lips.
Worst of all, young detective noticed Pandora had ‘borrowed’ Christa’s shiny new Harley Davidson as part of his initial escape plan… only after she shot it out from under the thief and sent it ablaze. Now, it seems all the progress she made wooing her buxom secretary also went up in flames. But is there actually more to Christa’s anger?
Join Jennifer in this steamy tale of secrets and passion as she strives to put the devilish thief behind the bars and reclaim her blonde darling’s heart. And in the progress, learn much more than she bargained for about the thief, the blonde and herself.
Shades of Pandora. Nothing will go according to the plan.
“My wife and I found ourselves completely immersed in the world the author paints. She expressed her wishes to portray Jennifer when it inevitably gets a movie adaptation. In the meanwhile, we will be looking forward to a sequel.”
Kudo Yusaku - Award-winning Mystery Author best known for Night Baron series.
“Every Kaitou KID fan should have it in their library! Clover-sensei is definitely a fan herself. Her research when creating Pandora’s character was stunningly accurate. Even with the twist, maybe because of it, I was giggling like a middle school girl till the very last page. I could totally put myself in Jennifer’s shoes. We had a real laugh when my best friend found herself empathizing with Hope.”
Suzuki Sonoko - President of Kaitou KID Fan Club and High School Detective.
“I read this book fully expecting to find a yet another fangirl pornography, a travesty. But Ms. Clover amazed me with her extensive knowledge of detective work in addition to vivid descriptions of crime scenes and deduction progress. Not to mention the respect she reserves to Sherlock Holmes. While there are a number of points I can not agree with -as I have ample reason to believe KID is a man- she managed to capture my heart with the way she brought her characters to life.”
Hakuba Saguru - Second most prominent Arch-Nemesis of Kaitou KID. Edogawa Conan was not available -or legal- to comment.
“Don’t say it like that… whose care have you been in this whole time?” Plus, that was so formal and strange that it flustered him a little, but maybe it was somewhat worth it. He hadn’t seen Shinichi look that happy in a long time, aside from when he heard news of coffee machines being fixed.
“I’ll be in your care too, then.”
And right at that moment, Shinichi did the most unbelievable thing possible. -- Which, considering who his mun was, wasn’t that strange, actually. -- He wrapped his arms around C-ta and pulled him into a hug, his nose pressed against the other’s neck as a result of that.
“Okay.”
“Don’t get me wrong, this is… really on whim, haha…” He rubbed the back of his neck, not looking at Shinichi despite facing him.
“I told you before that I wanted to give you a chance, and this is me saying I would be okay with trying. I don’t really know if it’s a thing that will work out, but… if that’s alright, then, yeah…”
“No... I’m fine with that.” He chuckled and then smiled again, one of the cutest blushes ever showing up on his cheeks.
“I’ll be in your care then, C-ta.” Ironically enough, he already was in C-ta’s care, but let’s dismiss those details.
“Thanks for giving me that chance.”
